Forensic probe advances Momina Iqbal case

New developments have been reported in the ongoing case involving actor Momina Iqbal and PML-N lawmaker Saqib Chadhar.

Momina recently shared a post on social media suggesting that forensic evidence has strengthened her case. She described the latest progress as another step toward justice.

The case is being investigated by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). It involves allegations of cyber harassment, intimidation and threats. Momina had approached the authorities after accusing Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Samira Chadhar, of harassment and other alleged offences.

During the latest court proceedings, the investigation officer informed the Lahore sessions court that the investigation involving Saqib Chadhar had been completed.

The officer also told the court that Samira Chadhar had submitted her mobile phone to the NCCIA. The device is reportedly being examined as part of the forensic investigation.

Momina’s lawyer, Adnan Ahsan, asked the court to withdraw the interim bail granted to the accused. He argued that allowing them to remain free could pose a security concern for the actor.

The investigation has focused heavily on digital evidence. Mobile phones and other electronic material have been examined as authorities work to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.

The dispute became a legal matter after Momina accused the couple of harassment and threats. The allegations reportedly include cyber harassment, stalking, intimidation and blackmail.

The accused have denied the allegations and obtained interim pre-arrest bail while the legal proceedings continue.

Momina’s latest statement has drawn attention to the progress of the investigation. However, her reference to the accused being “proven guilty” reflects her position and does not constitute a final judicial verdict.

The court will ultimately determine the legal status of the allegations after considering the investigation and evidence presented before it.

The forensic examination of digital devices remains an important part of the case. Investigators are expected to assess the material recovered during the probe before the matter proceeds further.

Three reasons Haroon is winning hearts in Aik Mohabbat Aur

Haroon Malik has emerged as one of the most admired characters in Aik Mohabbat Aur because of his thoughtful personality and balanced approach to relationships. Rather than being portrayed as a flawless hero, Haroon is shown as an ordinary man who makes mistakes, learns from them, and grows through his experiences. His realistic nature has made him relatable to viewers, and several of his actions have highlighted positive values that are often missing in television dramas. A genuine bond with Pari One of Haroon’s most heartwarming qualities is the relationship he shares with Pari. Instead of trying to immediately take on the role of a father figure, he focuses on becoming someone she can trust and enjoy spending time with. He treats her with kindness, patience, and respect, allowing their connection to develop naturally. Haroon listens to Pari, joins in her playful moments, and makes her feel valued without expecting anything in return. Their relationship is built on friendship, understanding, and trust rather than obligation. This gentle approach allows Pari to accept him on her own terms, making their bond feel authentic and emotionally touching. Standing up for Maham Another defining moment for Haroon is the way he handles Maham’s difficult situation. While others choose to ignore her emotional struggles or dismiss them as private family matters, Haroon recognizes that she deserves to be heard. Instead of blindly supporting his brother, Faris, he acknowledges Maham’s pain and encourages the family to confront the real issues. Haroon also challenges his parents to understand that providing financial security alone does not excuse harmful behavior. He emphasizes that emotional well-being is equally important and that remaining silent in the face of abuse only allows the problem to continue. His willingness to hold both his brother and family accountable demonstrates maturity, fairness, and compassion. Respecting Khushbakht’s emotions Haroon’s relationship with Khushbakht Naaz is another reason audiences appreciate his character. Although he develops strong feelings for her, he never pressures her to return his affection immediately. Instead, he patiently gives her the time and space she needs to process her emotions. Even after their marriage, Haroon expresses his care through thoughtful actions rather than dramatic declarations. He values small moments of happiness and understands that love cannot be forced. His calm and respectful approach helps Khushbakht gradually become comfortable with him, especially after the emotional challenges she has experienced in the past. Rather than demanding love, Haroon chooses to earn trust through consistency, patience, and genuine kindness. This refreshing portrayal of romance has resonated with many viewers, setting him apart from more traditional television heroes. As Aik Mohabbat Aur continues, Haroon’s character proves that strength can be found in empathy, respect, and emotional intelligence. His relationships with Pari, Maham, and Khushbakht showcase a man who values understanding over control and compassion over pride. These qualities not only make him an engaging character but also reflect the evolving storytelling seen in modern Pakistani dramas. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Farooq Rind, Aik Mohabbat Aur features a talented cast including Ahad Raza Mir, Maya Ali, Samiya Mumtaz, Noorul Hasan, Munazza Arif, Saqib Sameer, Omair Rana, Hajra Yamin, Sachal Afzal, Fajar Sheikh, Qudsia Ali, Shamyl Khan, Abbas Ashraf, Rehan Sheikh, Dodi Khan, and several other notable actors.

Pakistan set to field seven batters in first West Indies Test

TRINIDAD: Pakistan is set to adopt a batting-heavy approach for the opening Test against the West Indies, with team management reportedly planning to field seven specialist batters as they finalize the playing XI ahead of the series opener. According to team sources, initial discussions have begun on the lineup, with the management aiming to strengthen the batting order while maintaining a balanced bowling attack for the first Test, which begins on Saturday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. The proposed lineup is expected to include Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha is also likely to feature, with the team expected to use him as the fifth bowling option while adding depth to the batting unit. Sources further indicated that Aamer Jamal and experienced pacer Mohammad Abbas are expected to retain their places in the side, providing balance with both bat and ball. There is also a strong possibility that left-arm spinner Ali Usman will make his Test debut. One of Khurram Shahzad or Mohammad Ali is expected to complete the pace attack, depending on the final assessment of conditions. Team management has reportedly advised the bowlers to focus on improving their batting contributions, reflecting Pakistan’s intention to maximize runs from the lower order. The final playing XI, however, will depend on players’ fitness and last-minute evaluations before the match. Meanwhile, preparations at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy suggest conditions could favor seam bowlers. According to sources, curators have prepared a pitch with brown grass rather than lush green coverage, a surface expected to provide pace and bounce while remaining suitable for batting as the match progresses. The first Test marks the beginning of Pakistan’s highly anticipated series against the West Indies, with both teams eager to make a strong start. Pakistan will be hoping that its strengthened batting lineup provides the platform for a winning performance in Caribbean conditions.

FBI questions Argentina FA president over $300m probe

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has begun investigating Argentine Football Association (AFA) President Claudio Tapia as part of a wider inquiry into the alleged laundering of more than $300 million in sponsorship funds linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to international media reports, the investigation gained attention after Argentina’s national football team completed its World Cup campaign and was preparing to return to Buenos Aires from the United States on a charter flight. Reports said US authorities stopped Claudio Tapia before departure and questioned him for approximately 30 minutes. During the questioning, investigators reportedly took possession of his mobile phone as part of the ongoing inquiry into financial transactions connected to the case. Following the incident, some media outlets reported that Tapia had been arrested. However, the Argentine Football Association strongly rejected those claims. The association said neither Tapia nor AFA Treasurer Pablo Toviggino had been arrested or summoned by any US court. The football body did confirm that a third individual had received a subpoena to appear before a US grand jury. According to the association, investigators may seek information from that individual regarding certain officials and financial matters linked to the organisation. US investigators are reportedly reviewing commercial and sponsorship agreements valued at more than $300 million. The inquiry is focused on determining whether any funds connected to those agreements were transferred through the US banking system in a way that could indicate money laundering or other financial crimes. Investigators are also examining banking records showing that millions of dollars moved through several US financial institutions. Reports suggest that some of the funds remained in certain accounts for only a short period before being transferred to other destinations, prompting further scrutiny of the transactions. Authorities are analysing financial documents, payment records, and banking activities to determine whether the movement of funds complied with US financial regulations or involved attempts to conceal the origin or destination of the money. The investigation forms part of a broader examination of financial activities connected to Argentine football. It follows law enforcement operations conducted in Argentina last year as part of separate investigations into suspected money laundering involving football-related finances.

Former Chinese premier Zhu Rongji dies at 97

BEIJING: Former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, a key figure in the country’s economic transformation during the 1990s, has died at the age of 97. Zhu was known for his direct speaking style and his strong support for economic reform. His tenure was marked by major changes aimed at restructuring China’s state-dominated economy and opening it further to global markets. He served as China’s vice premier from 1991 to 1998 before becoming premier, a position he held until early 2003. Zhu’s political career began decades earlier. He graduated from Tsinghua University and joined the Communist Party in 1949. During the Cultural Revolution, he was sent to work in the countryside and experienced a period of political hardship. He was later rehabilitated and gradually returned to senior government positions. In 1987, Zhu became mayor of Shanghai. During his tenure, he helped guide the city through early economic reforms and development that eventually contributed to its emergence as a major international financial centre. He moved to Beijing in 1991 after joining the central government. As vice premier and later premier, Zhu became closely associated with efforts to tackle economic overheating, inflation and financial instability. His government introduced wide-ranging reforms to state-owned enterprises. Many inefficient state companies were closed, restructured or privatised, while large numbers of workers were laid off. Zhu also strengthened the central government’s control over taxation and introduced reforms that encouraged private home ownership. Those changes played a major role in reshaping China’s housing market. One of his most significant achievements was helping China secure membership of the World Trade Organization in 2001, following years of difficult negotiations. China formally joined the organisation in December that year. The WTO accession accelerated China’s integration into the global economy and helped expand international trade and investment. However, Zhu’s reform programme also had critics. Some observers argued that changes to agricultural policy, tax arrangements and state-owned enterprises created difficulties that later governments had to address. Despite those criticisms, Zhu remained widely regarded as one of the most influential economic reformers in modern Chinese history. His reputation for blunt remarks became particularly prominent after a collection of his speeches was published in 2011. The books contained unusually candid assessments of corruption, government debt, banking problems and weaknesses in public administration. The speeches attracted significant public attention because they addressed many of the economic and social challenges facing China at the time. Zhu warned about corruption, inequality and problems created by local officials. His comments continued to attract interest among reform-minded officials, academics and members of the public long after he left office. His death marks the passing of a leader who played a central role in one of the most consequential periods of China’s economic development. Zhu’s legacy is closely linked to the difficult reforms of the 1990s, when China moved towards a more market-oriented economy while maintaining the political control of the Communist Party.
