Isla Fisher is embracing her single era with a healthy dose of humor. The Australian actress recently revealed some of her biggest dating “icks,” and her brutally honest rules are already giving fans plenty to laugh about.

Fisher, 50, has been in the spotlight following the end of her marriage to comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. The former couple, who were together for more than two decades, announced in 2024 that they had filed for divorce. Their divorce was finalized in June 2025. Now, Fisher appears to be having fun with the idea of dating again.

During a recent appearance on KIIS FM’s The Smallzy Show, the actress was asked about the little things that can instantly turn her off. Her answer was anything but serious.

One of Fisher’s biggest complaints? Backpacks.

“Backpack, period,” she joked, explaining that she would immediately lose interest if a man showed up wearing one in a particular way. She admitted that simply carrying a backpack is not necessarily a problem. However, things change when a man clips the straps together across his chest.

According to Fisher, that small detail is enough to make her say goodbye.

But backpacks are not her only dating deal-breaker. Deck shoes also made the list.

Fisher described the shoes as already being “a bit of an ick” before revealing the specific habit that really bothers her. She said she recently saw someone wearing deck shoes with the heel folded down, turning them into something resembling casual plimsolls.

Her reaction was immediate and hilarious.

“Repulsive,” she declared.

The comments offer a glimpse into Fisher’s playful personality as she enters a different chapter of her life. Earlier, she had been candid about how difficult her separation was, describing it as one of the hardest experiences she had faced.     Shifa specialists join Imran’s eye assessment

    The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has confirmed that two specialists from Shifa International Hospital were involved in the eye examination of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan. According to a statement issued by PIMS on Saturday, Imran Khan was brought to the Islamabad hospital during the night between August 20 and 21 for a medical examination and treatment. The institute said the ophthalmological assessment was carried out with the participation of two Shifa International specialists. Other required examinations were conducted by doctors at PIMS. PIMS said the findings from the eye assessment were reviewed alongside the results of investigations conducted by its own medical specialists. A medical board consisting of PIMS doctors subsequently compiled the overall medical fitness report. However, the institute said it would not make the contents of the medical report public. PIMS cited patient confidentiality as well as directions issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan for withholding the details of the report. The clarification comes amid controversy over the treatment and medical care being provided to Imran Khan, who is currently detained at Adiala Jail. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court had directed that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for treatment for several days. The court also ordered the government to facilitate weekly meetings between him and his family. The Supreme Court further directed authorities to provide access to Imran’s personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan. It ordered the formation of a medical board that would include an ophthalmologist, general physician and cardiologist, along with Dr Sultan. The government subsequently filed a review petition against the court’s order, describing the decision as discriminatory. Confusion arose later when reports suggested that Imran Khan was being moved from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar later said that the former prime minister had instead been taken to PIMS because of security concerns surrounding Shifa Hospital and the route leading to it. Tarar said doctors from Shifa International were also present during the medical examination at PIMS. After the examination, Imran Khan was declared medically fit and taken back to Adiala Jail. The development has drawn further attention from PTI and Imran Khan’s family, who have repeatedly raised concerns about his health and medical treatment. Imran Khan’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan, also spoke publicly after meeting him and alleged that he was facing severe injustice and mistreatment.

Originally, the company built AI tools to identify and test materials for water purification and carbon capture projects. Since then, its mission has grown considerably. By expanding into AI infrastructure and chip materials, the startup now positions itself as a possible fix during a period of serious supply chain strain. One of CuspAI’s key advantages lies in finding substitutes. The company’s AI can search for alternative materials that mimic the properties of scarce elements like tantalum, gallium, and iridium. These elements are becoming harder to source as demand climbs, particularly with the explosion of AI infrastructure worldwide. The International Energy Agency has already flagged concerns that data centre demand for gallium could outpace supply within the next few years. Adding to the pressure, rising geopolitical tension between the US and China over rare earth minerals continues to complicate global supply chains. Analysts have pointed to this rift as a growing risk factor for tech manufacturers everywhere. Beyond securing fresh funding, CuspAI has also launched something bigger: the AI Materials Foundry. This initiative brings together more than 45 major industry players under one coalition, including tech giants like Nvidia, Samsung, Meta, and Hyundai Motor Group. The goal is to pool resources and expertise as the industry races to solve its materials bottleneck. With Bezos now backing the effort directly, CuspAI’s profile in the AI and semiconductor space is only expected to grow. As chip shortages continue to challenge manufacturers worldwide, the company’s approach of using AI to hunt for alternative materials could prove critical in keeping production on track.

    Court sets August 18 for Rajab Butt indictment

    LAHORE: A sessions court in Lahore has fixed August 18 for the indictment of TikToker Rajab Butt and four other suspects in a case involving allegations of sexual assault against a social media influencer. Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafaryab heard the private complaint filed by the woman against Butt and the other suspects. The court directed all five accused to appear on the next hearing date for formal framing of charges. The complaint was filed in 2025. The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted and later subjected to blackmail by the suspects. She told the court that she had evidence to support her allegations. The material reportedly includes WhatsApp conversations, a medical report and a statement recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The accused have denied the allegations. They had previously obtained pre-arrest bail from a sessions court while the proceedings continued. The case is separate from another criminal complaint recently registered against Butt and some of his associates. Last month, police registered a case after an alleged confrontation at a café involving several women. The same woman who filed the earlier sexual assault complaint also approached police over the café incident. She alleged that Butt attacked her and other women during the altercation. The latest court proceedings add to the growing number of legal cases involving the social media personality. Butt has faced proceedings over several allegations in recent years. These include accusations related to hurting religious sentiments, promoting online gambling and physical assault. He has denied the allegations in the relevant cases. The court will now hear the matter on August 18. The appearance of Butt and the other suspects will mark the next stage of proceedings, when the court is scheduled to formally frame charges.

    7 dead, 8 children missing in Muzaffargarh canal accident

    The death toll from the tragic Muzaffargarh Canal rickshaw accident has risen to seven after rescue teams recovered another body from the canal, while eight people remain missing. The incident occurred when a rickshaw carrying members of a wedding party fell into the canal in Muzaffargarh. A large number of people, including women and children, were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. According to the updated list issued by rescue officials, the deceased have been identified as Dilawar, son of Abdul Rasheed, aged 14; Muneeb, son of Rashid, aged seven; Sakina Bibi, wife of Allah Ditta, aged 58; Sameera Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Shafiq, aged 15; Muhammad Saim, son of Muhammad Iqbal; Muhammad Sabtain, son of Musharraf, aged seven; and Raju, son of Muhammad Iqbal, aged nine. Rescue teams are continuing their search for eight people who are still unaccounted for following the accident. The missing persons have been identified as Muhammad Bilal, son of Muhammad Iqbal; Muhammad Yasir, son of Fida Hussain; Muhammad Ali, son of Muhammad Shafiq; Usman, son of Ghulam Fareed; Shakir, son of Ashiq Hussain; Hassnain, son of Musharraf Ali; Iqbal Bibi, daughter of Fida Hussain; Kaleem Ullah, son of Basheer Ahmad; and Zareef, son of Wazeer Ahmad. Rescue officials have intensified the search operation in the canal to locate the missing passengers. Divers and other rescue personnel are taking part in the operation, while efforts are also being made to determine whether any victims remain trapped in or around the submerged vehicle. Earlier, rescue teams managed to save 11 passengers from the accident. The injured and rescued individuals were shifted to medical facilities for necessary treatment.
