Islamabad Traffic Police has warned citizens to remain alert against fake e-challan messages being circulated through SMS, WhatsApp, and other online platforms. The police urged the public not to fall victim to online scams and to verify all traffic-related notices through official channels only.

In an official statement, the traffic police advised citizens to stay cautious of fake websites, suspicious links, and unverified messages claiming to be issued by government authorities. It said cybercriminals are using fraudulent messages to deceive people into sharing personal or financial information.

The police specifically warned citizens not to click on any link included in suspicious SMS or WhatsApp messages related to e-challans. Such links may lead to fake websites designed to steal sensitive information or install malicious software on users’ devices.

The statement further advised the public to immediately report any suspicious or fake e-challan message to the nearest police station or the FIA Cyber Crime Wing. Prompt reporting can help authorities trace those involved in online fraud and prevent others from becoming victims.

Islamabad Traffic Police also emphasized that citizens should check and verify their e-challans only through the official government website. It urged motorists to avoid relying on messages received from unknown numbers or unofficial sources.

The police reiterated that public awareness is essential in preventing cyber fraud. Citizens have been encouraged to remain vigilant, verify all online communications related to traffic fines, and avoid sharing personal information through suspicious websites or links.

    The Government of Pakistan has announced a fresh increase in petroleum prices, raising the price of petrol by Rs. 1.63 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs. 1.55 per litre. The revised prices will come into effect from July 29, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division. Following the latest revision, petrol will now cost Rs. 335.81 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be available at Rs. 388.38 per litre. Officials said the increase reflects fluctuations in international crude oil prices caused by renewed tensions in the Persian Gulf, which have affected global energy markets. The government continues to collect substantial taxes and duties on petroleum products. Consumers currently pay around Rs110 per litre in taxes and levies on petrol, while diesel carries approximately Rs96 per litre in taxes and duties. Fuel prices have remained volatile throughout the year. Diesel had previously reached a record Rs520.35 per litre in early April after rising sharply from Rs281 per litre during the escalation of the US-Iran conflict. Similarly, petrol climbed to a peak of Rs458.41 per litre after increasing from Rs266 per litre in early March. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik recently announced that fuel prices would now be reviewed daily instead of weekly. The decision aims to ensure domestic fuel prices better reflect international market trends, especially during periods of global uncertainty. Under the new policy, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) will determine daily fuel prices based on changes in international oil markets. However, the move has faced criticism from the All Pakistan Dealers Association, which has warned that it may launch protests against the daily pricing mechanism. Petrol is primarily used by private vehicle owners, motorcycles, rickshaws, and small transport operators. As a result, any increase directly impacts middle- and lower-income households. High-speed diesel is widely used in heavy transport, agriculture, power generation, and industrial sectors, meaning price hikes can also increase transportation and production costs, contributing to inflation. With monthly sales of 700,000 to 800,000 tonnes, petrol and diesel remain Pakistan’s largest petroleum products by consumption and are significant contributors to government revenue. As global oil prices continue to fluctuate, consumers should expect further adjustments in domestic fuel prices in the coming weeks.

The secretary visited Gujrat to review the Community Health Inspectors (CHI) programme and attended a training workshop for field staff. Addressing community health inspectors, she stressed the importance of improving primary healthcare services, community engagement and effective field monitoring. The workshop was attended by Deputy Director Khalid Sharif, Additional Secretary (Technical) Dr Zohaib Hassan, Project Director PFPP Captain Usman and Additional Director PIU Dr Farrukh Amin. During the visit, Nadia Saqib also inspected Civil Hospital Jalalpur Jattan to review administrative affairs and healthcare services. According to well-placed sources, the secretary expressed serious displeasure after learning that the recent appointment of Dr Shehzad Gul as Medical Superintendent (MS) of Civil Hospital Jalalpur Jattan had been made without the matter coming to her notice. Sources claimed she questioned the appointment during the inspection and sought an explanation from local health authorities. Soon after the visit, Chief Executive Officer (Health) Gujrat Dr Atta-ul-Munim was transferred and posted as Senior Medical Officer (SMO) in Bahawalnagar. Officials familiar with the matter said the transfer order was issued immediately following the inspection. In another significant development, Dr Shehzad Gul, who had only recently assumed charge as Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Jalalpur Jattan, was transferred and posted as Medical Officer in Attock. The inspection also resulted in action against the office of Anjuman-e-Behbood-e-Mareezan operating within Civil Hospital Jalalpur Jattan. According to sources, the office was sealed during or after the visit following concerns that it was functioning in a manner inconsistent with its intended welfare role. Sources alleged that the office had effectively been operating like a business despite the fact that medicines required for patients are supplied free of cost through the government hospital. They claimed the matter was brought to the secretary’s attention during the inspection, prompting immediate action. The Health Department has not officially stated the reasons behind sealing the office. Meanwhile, sources indicated that further administrative changes could be on the cards, with the transfer of the District Health Officer (DHO) Gujrat also being considered, although no notification had been issued until late Thursday. No official spokesperson for the Punjab Health Department issued a detailed statement linking the transfers or the sealing of the office to disciplinary proceedings. Efforts to obtain comments from the transferred officials were unsuccessful. The developments have generated considerable discussion within Gujrat’s health sector, where employees view the latest decisions as part of a wider push for administrative accountability and stricter oversight of public health institutions. The secretary’s visit is being seen as a clear message that governance, transparency and adherence to departmental procedures will remain central to the provincial government’s healthcare reform agenda.

It highlighted that both incidents involved the collapse of educational building roofs and caused the deaths and injuries of schoolchildren. The statement also noted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced relief for the Kahna victims but has yet to announce compensation for the Dera Ghazi Khan families or visit the city to offer condolences.
