KATSEYE’s Sophia takes break ahead of global tour

KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza has announced a temporary break from the group, leaving fans surprised just weeks before the girl group is scheduled to begin its upcoming global tour.

The 23-year-old singer, who serves as one of the prominent members of KATSEYE, revealed that she will step away from upcoming promotional activities to focus on her health and overall well-being.

The announcement was shared with fans on Friday, August 7, through a statement posted on Weverse. The group explained that Sophia’s mental health and wellness need to be prioritised and that she has been advised to take an extended period of rest following consultations with medical professionals.

According to the statement, Sophia is receiving support while she takes time away from the group. The members and management also said they will continue to monitor her condition and stand by her during her recovery.

The group said Sophia herself remains eager to return to performing alongside her bandmates. However, her health and long-term well-being have been placed ahead of her professional commitments.

KATSEYE is expected to reassess Sophia’s condition in September, with another update promised for fans at that time. Until then, she will not participate in the group’s upcoming promotional activities.

The announcement has triggered an emotional response from KATSEYE fans, with many expressing disappointment over the prospect of seeing the group perform without Sophia. Some fans described the situation as particularly difficult because of the group’s upcoming tour.

Sophia’s temporary hiatus comes shortly before KATSEYE is scheduled to launch its first global headline arena tour, titled The Wildworld Tour.

The tour is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026, and will feature 30 shows across different locations. It is being organised in support of the group’s third EP, Wild, and is currently scheduled to conclude on November 27.

The timing of Sophia’s announcement has therefore added uncertainty for fans preparing to see the group on its major international tour.

Four fatalities were reported in Gujranwala, while a child drowned in an underpass in Kamalia after being swept away by accumulated rainwater. Three more people lost their lives in separate roof collapse incidents in Pakpattan and Sahiwal. Torrential rains inundated streets, residential neighbourhoods and commercial areas in Sialkot, while low-lying areas of Faisalabad were submerged, major roads were flooded and traffic was severely disrupted. Meghan Markle ready to fight back after cheating rumours over Prince Harry surface

Royal insiders have pushed back against cheating rumours surrounding Prince Harry, while revealing that Meghan Markle is ready to fight back against the claims. According to a report by New Idea, Lady Colin Campbell made unproven allegations about an alleged affair involving Harry. The claims first surfaced on The Nerve podcast on July 23rd and quickly spread online. The outlet’s source claimed Meghan had discovered messages between Harry and a woman who also lives in Montecito. According to the report, Meghan allegedly saw the woman’s texts on Harry’s phone. Insiders close to the couple were quick to shut down the rumours. They insisted there is no truth to the claims, adding that Meghan and Harry remain firmly united despite the noise. Still, the source noted a difference in how each of them wants to handle it. Meghan reportedly wants to address the rumours head-on, while Harry would rather stay silent and let it pass. One insider pointed out that this is not the first time Lady Colin Campbell has made outlandish claims about the couple. Over the past five years, she has also alleged that Meghan didn’t give birth to either Archie or Lilibet. That history, the source suggested, may explain why her latest claims about a mistress and leaked texts spread so fast online. However, the insider found it strange that anyone would claim Harry and the woman were seen together publicly in an age where everyone carries a smartphone. As for how the couple plans to respond, insiders say Harry prefers to stay above this kind of gossip, given his royal background. Meghan, though, is said to feel the sting more personally. The source described the situation as distressing for her, since she reportedly wanted to shut down this narrative years ago, long before it resurfaced now. The rumours arrive at a time when Harry and Meghan continue to face intense scrutiny in the media. Whether this latest claim fades quietly or continues to build remains to be seen.

Fernandez defends Argentina after World Cup Final controversies

BUENOS AIRES: Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez has defended his team’s FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, saying the players represented their country “in the best possible way” despite a series of controversial incidents that overshadowed their run to the final. The Chelsea star shared an emotional message on social media after Argentina’s 1-0 extra-time defeat to Spain in Sunday’s World Cup final, insisting the team had given everything for the national jersey throughout the tournament. Fernandez’s own campaign ended on a disappointing note after he was sent off late in normal time for a second yellow card following a challenge on Spanish defender Pau Cubarsi. Reduced to 10 men, Argentina struggled to contain Spain before Ferran Torres scored the decisive winner in the 106th minute to hand La Roja the world title. The final was also marred by post-match controversy. Reports alleged that midfielder Leandro Paredes attempted to confront members of the Spanish squad during their celebrations, prompting FIFA to open an investigation into possible disciplinary breaches. Argentina’s players also drew criticism after turning their backs while Spain collected their medals and lifted the World Cup trophy. Earlier in the tournament, the team sparked political controversy by displaying a banner reading “Las Malvinas son Argentinas” following their semi-final victory over England. The slogan refers to Argentina’s long-standing claim over the Falkland Islands, a dispute that remains highly sensitive between Argentina and the United Kingdom. Despite the criticism, Fernandez chose to focus on the team’s commitment and unity rather than the controversies. “As time goes by, you realise there is something much bigger than just a result,” he wrote. “For years, this group has represented Argentina in the best possible way. Competing is not only about winning, but about giving everything for the shirt and never giving up.” The 25-year-old also thanked Argentina’s supporters for standing by the team throughout the tournament, describing wearing the national jersey as the greatest honour of his career. Fernandez, who lifted the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in Qatar in 2022, admitted that missing out on a second consecutive title was painful but vowed to continue giving his all whenever he represents his country. Although Argentina fell short in the final, Fernandez’s message sought to shift the focus from controversy to the dedication and determination shown by the squad throughout their journey to another World Cup final.

Laila Zuberi shares advice on handling marital disagreements

Senior Pakistani actress Laila Zuberi has shared thoughtful advice on how married couples can handle disagreements, anger, and tense situations in a relationship. During a conversation with host Nida Yasir, the veteran actress discussed the importance of remaining calm when emotions run high between husband and wife. She advised women that when their husbands are angry, it may be better to avoid immediately arguing or responding in anger. According to her, reacting in the heat of the moment can sometimes make a disagreement worse rather than helping resolve it. Laila explained that when either a husband or wife becomes angry, the other person should give them some time and space to calm down. Once emotions have settled, the couple can discuss the actual reason behind the disagreement and try to find a solution through a calm conversation. The actress also shared a personal rule that she and her husband established at the beginning of their marriage. She revealed that they decided they would never go to sleep while being angry or upset with each other. According to Laila, the couple makes an effort to resolve their differences before going to bed. This includes talking through their problems, apologising when necessary, and making an effort to understand each other. She believes that addressing disagreements instead of allowing resentment to continue can help maintain a healthier relationship. However, Laila Zuberi’s comments sparked a discussion among social media users, particularly regarding her suggestion that women should remain silent when their husbands are angry. Several users questioned why the advice appeared to be directed mainly at women. They argued that maintaining peace during an argument should be a shared responsibility between both partners rather than something expected from only one person. Some social media users pointed out that if a wife is expected to remain quiet when her husband is angry, the same principle should apply when the wife is the one who loses her temper. In their view, both partners should give each other time to cool down before continuing a difficult conversation. One user offered a humorous take on the situation, suggesting that couples should simply follow a “turn-by-turn” rule. Whenever one partner becomes angry, the other should remain silent until the situation becomes calmer. Despite the debate surrounding her comments, the central message from Laila focused on communication, patience, and resolving disagreements rather than allowing anger to damage a relationship. Laila Zuberi is regarded as one of Pakistan’s veteran television actresses. Her career is linked to the early days of Pakistan Television, and she initially worked as a radio artist before moving into television during the 1980s. She gained recognition through memorable performances in several popular television productions, including Guest House. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous acclaimed dramas and established herself as a respected figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

    Monsoon rains continue across Pakistan

Monsoon rains continue to affect different parts of Pakistan, bringing relief from the intense summer heat but also causing deadly accidents, flooding, and damage to infrastructure. At least six people, including children, have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across the country, while rescue teams remain on high alert as heavy downpours continue. In Gujranwala, a tragic incident occurred when a child drowned in rainwater that had accumulated in an underpass. The flooding turned the underpass into a dangerous pool, highlighting the risks posed by poor drainage systems during the monsoon season. In another heartbreaking incident in Bahawalnagar, a child drowned while bathing in a canal. Rescue officials have launched a search operation to recover the child’s body, which was still ongoing at the time of reporting. The monsoon showers have significantly reduced temperatures across Punjab, providing welcome relief from the scorching heat. However, the heavy rainfall has also created serious urban flooding in several cities. Torrential rain in Gujranwala and Gujrat submerged low-lying areas, leaving roads inundated and disrupting traffic flow. Water entered several homes, causing inconvenience and property damage to residents. Authorities are working to drain the accumulated rainwater and restore normal conditions. In Sialkot, Toba Tek Singh, and Jhang, rainfall brought cooler weather and pleasant conditions after days of extreme heat. Meanwhile, in Mandi Bahauddin, heavy rain caused roofs and walls of several buildings to collapse, leaving multiple people injured. Emergency services responded promptly, providing medical assistance to the injured and assessing the damage. In Shakargarh, rising water levels in the Ravi River left 42 farmers stranded. Rescue teams successfully carried out an operation to evacuate all of them safely, preventing what could have become a major tragedy. Rescue authorities continue to monitor river levels closely as rainfall persists in nearby regions. Heavy rainfall also wreaked havoc near Dadocha Dam on the outskirts of Rawalpindi. A seasonal stream overflowed and entered nearby residential areas, flooding the villages of Barwala and Khanpur. Residents faced significant challenges as floodwaters inundated homes, streets, and agricultural land, forcing many families to move to safer locations. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, flash floods in the Siran Valley of Mansehra swept away a bridge, cutting off road access to 12 villages. Local authorities are assessing the situation and exploring temporary arrangements to restore connectivity. Elsewhere in the province, including Abbottabad, Nowshera, Swabi, Mingora, and Bajaur, intermittent light and heavy rainfall continued, bringing cooler temperatures but raising concerns about possible flooding and landslides. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rainfall triggered surging water levels in streams and rivers in Samahni, Bagh, and the Neelum Valley. A landslide at the Dwariyan area blocked the main highway, disrupting transportation and delaying travel between affected regions. Officials have begun efforts to clear the road and restore traffic. Meanwhile, rainfall also reached Khuzdar in Balochistan and Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, where cool winds and lower temperatures created pleasant weather conditions. However, authorities have urged citizens across the country to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas, and follow official weather advisories as the monsoon spell continues.
