Khyber Pakhtunkhwa likely to get new police chief

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hamid is likely to be replaced, according to official sources.

The provincial government has reportedly initiated the process of appointing a new police chief. Three names have been forwarded to the federal government for consideration.

The federal government will review the proposed names before making a final decision.

Sources said the appointment of the new IG is expected within the next few days.

The change, if approved, would bring a new leadership at the top of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. The provincial police chief is responsible for overseeing law enforcement operations across the province.

The federal government has the authority to make the final appointment after considering the names forwarded by the provincial government.

Officials have not yet publicly announced the names of the three candidates. No formal notification regarding the replacement of Zulfiqar Hamid has been issued so far.

The development comes amid continued security and law-and-order challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The new police chief, once appointed, will be responsible for strengthening policing, improving security measures and coordinating operations across the province.

Karachi lawyers halt court proceedings over allege…

KARACHI: Lawyers in Karachi have announced a boycott of court proceedings and barred police personnel from entering the City Courts following an alleged assault on a former member of the Karachi Bar Association’s Managing Committee at Gulbahar Police Station. The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) lawyers shut the main entrances of the City Courts, preventing both police officials and members of the public from entering the court premises. The move came as lawyers protested what they described as the mistreatment of their colleague. The lawyers also stopped police personnel from entering the City Courts and called for a complete boycott of judicial proceedings. Their protest disrupted routine legal activities across the court complex. As a result of the strike, authorities did not bring prisoners from jails to the City Courts for scheduled hearings. The boycott also brought regular court operations to a standstill, leaving several cases and judicial proceedings suspended. The lawyers have taken the action in response to the alleged violence against their former Managing Committee member and are demanding action over the incident.

Benjamin Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump’s 15-point peace plan for Gaza amidst high-stakes diplomatic rift

A high-stakes rift has emerged between Washington and Jerusalem following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s explicit rejection of Donald Trump’s 15-point proposal for Gaza, with Israel insisting on maintaining a military presence until Hamas is fully disarmed. Under the framework put forward by Trump’s Board of Peace last month, terms were outlined for the reduction or withdrawal of military personnel and weapons across specified zones. Hamas responded by stating that relinquishing its arsenal remains conditional upon Israel ending all forms of aggression and withdrawing its forces from Gaza entirely. Despite an agreement reached last October to pause hostilities in the territory, Israeli strikes inside Gaza have continued. Addressing a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu stated that Israel rejects the 15-point document. He stressed that the Israeli military will not execute any troop withdrawals until Hamas undergoes genuine disarmament, adding that forces will continue to counter active threats to safeguard personnel and citizens. Although Trump previously hailed the initiative as a major milestone toward lasting regional stability after Hamas indicated acceptance of a demilitarisation strategy, Netanyahu emphasised that disarmament must precede any Israeli pullback, warning against what he described as a fictitious disarmament process. Netanyahu is engaged in crucial discussions with American officials regarding next steps, marking another hurdle for Trump’s Gaza peace initiative originally unveiled in September last year. The proposed plan centres on establishing a Board of Peace tasked with overseeing the demilitarisation of Hamas, supervising the exit of Israeli troops, and directing reconstruction efforts throughout Gaza.

He said that the drama mainly revolves around four central characters, including Beena, Tabish, the character played by Sania Saeed, and his own role. According to the actor, he immediately understood the significance of the character after reading the script and believed it was much more than what audiences would initially assume. Saif added that viewers will gradually discover the true impact of his character as the story unfolds. He expressed confidence that every appearance of his character serves a meaningful purpose and contributes directly to the development of the plot. The actor also discussed his on-screen chemistry with Urwa Hocane, whose character Beena shares an important connection with his role. While fans have been curious about the direction of their relationship in the drama, Saif chose not to reveal any major details. He said he wanted audiences to experience the story without spoilers, adding that revealing too much in advance would take away the excitement. According to Saif, the relationship between Beena and Behram has several unexpected twists, and viewers will have to continue watching the drama to see how their journey unfolds. Speaking about one of the drama’s visually striking moments, Saif shared behind-the-scenes details about the train sequence that has attracted viewers’ attention. He revealed that the sequence was filmed during January under extremely cold weather conditions, making it one of the more challenging shoots for the cast and crew. The actor explained that although a real train and an actual railway station were used for filming, the train itself was stationary during production. Some portions of the sequence were later enhanced using chroma technology to create the illusion of movement and make the scenes appear more realistic on screen. Saif also praised the production team for their professionalism and dedication throughout the filming process. He credited the crew for carefully executing the technically demanding sequence and ensuring that the final result looked convincing despite the challenges involved. Amitabh Bachchan sparks concern with hospitalization update

Legendary Indian film actor Amitabh Bachchan has sparked widespread concern and speculation among fans after sharing a deeply reflective blog post mentioning a hospital stay, surgery, and time spent in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The 83-year-old actor, who regularly communicates with his followers through personal blog entries, penned an emotional note reflecting on the physical and psychological toll of post-operative recovery: ”.. in Hospital in a surgery and in the ICU, under the care of proficient Doctors and medical Staff .. a discharge .. and a homecoming .. this homecoming period is the most difficult phase .. physically, psychologically and practically. You are a revered Champion and one day a defeat stares at you .. this is the most difficult phase of your life ..” He concluded his reflection with a philosophical message on resilience and personal choice, writing that while some brave difficult times and remain champions, others choose to reconcile with the past. The cryptic nature of the post immediately triggered anxiety across social media, with fans flooding comment sections to express concern and offer prayers for his well-being.
