Kelly Clarkson reveals why she is happy staying single

Kelly Clarkson has shared a candid update about her personal life, revealing that she is happy being single and has no plans to rush into a new relationship.

During her residency show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Friday, July 24, the Grammy-winning singer spoke honestly with the audience about life after heartbreak, explaining why she appreciates the peace that comes with being on her own.

Addressing questions she often receives about her relationship status, Clarkson said many people assume she should be dating again. However, she explained that watching the challenges some couples face has only reinforced her decision to enjoy single life.

“People are like, ‘Why are you single?’” Clarkson told the crowd, adding that there are plenty of examples that make being single seem like the better option. She joked that she is grateful she can return home without dealing with unnecessary relationship drama.

The singer also reflected on the realities of maintaining a long-term romance. According to Clarkson, one of the biggest challenges for couples is preventing a relationship from becoming repetitive over time.

She explained that keeping the excitement alive requires continuous effort, saying partners need to keep dating each other and find ways to preserve the sense of magic that often exists at the beginning of a relationship. Without that effort, she suggested, relationships can become routine and lose their spark.

Clarkson’s remarks offered fans a rare glimpse into her personal life, as she has largely kept her romantic life private in recent years.

The 44-year-old singer was previously married to talent manager Brandon Blackstock. The pair began dating in 2012 and married the following year in an intimate ceremony at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee.

During their marriage, they welcomed two children together—a daughter born in 2014 and a son born in 2016.

After nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce became one of the most closely followed celebrity separations, involving legal disputes over finances and custody before it was finalized.

In August 2025, Blackstock died following a battle with cancer, marking another emotional chapter in Clarkson’s life. Since then, the singer has remained focused on her family, music career and television work while keeping her personal relationships out of the spotlight.

Clarkson first rose to fame after winning the inaugural season of

Qatar restores maritime traffic after two-week suspension

Qatar has fully resumed maritime navigation for all types of vessels after a two-week suspension imposed amid heightened security tensions in the Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar’s Transport Ministry announced that maritime activities would resume from Sunday. It urged shipping companies, vessel operators and other concerned parties to follow safety regulations and official instructions to ensure safe voyages. The ministry did not provide further details about the reasons behind the decision. Qatar had suspended maritime navigation on July 12 as regional tensions intensified. It had earlier halted maritime traffic on June 29 before partially restoring operations on July 5. The conflict also prompted several shipping companies to advise vessels to remain outside the Strait of Hormuz because of security concerns. Meanwhile, Iran said it had made progress in talks with Oman on arrangements for safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said officials from the two countries held discussions in Tehran on Friday and Saturday. The talks focused on common principles and practical mechanisms for ensuring the safe movement of ships through the strategic waterway. Baqaei described the discussions as productive and said progress had been achieved. He added that technical and political consultations between the two countries would continue. Iran also said there had been no change in the existing maritime traffic situation in the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway remains a key route for international energy and commercial shipments, making any prolonged disruption a major concern for global trade. At the same time, Iranian military officials claimed that Tehran had targeted US military facilities in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain during retaliatory operations. Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Akraminia said Iran had taken action after accusing Washington of violating previous commitments related to the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian army spokesman General Abolfazl Shekarchi also claimed that the United States had failed to achieve its objectives against Iran. He described the situation as difficult for Washington and said the US was looking for a new strategy. Iranian officials further claimed that US military infrastructure in Iraq’s Erbil suffered extensive damage during the conflict. Tehran has warned that its military operations could resume if hostilities escalate again. The United States, meanwhile, says its naval blockade against Iran remains in effect. US Central Command said American forces had redirected several commercial vessels accused of attempting to breach the blockade. It also reported disabling two vessels and boarding others to verify compliance. One oil tanker was inspected in the Arabian Sea before continuing its journey, while another vessel was reportedly disabled in the Gulf of Oman after allegedly ignoring repeated warnings. The US actions have added to concerns over the safety of commercial shipping in the region. Kuwait has rejected reports that it participated in military operations against Iran. Kuwait’s ambassador to the United States said her country had not taken part in attacks against Tehran and had not allowed its territory, airspace or territorial waters to be used for offensive operations. Kuwait has also condemned attacks against shipping in the Red Sea. Its Foreign Ministry described such attacks as a threat to maritime security, international trade and freedom of navigation. Kuwait expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and backed measures taken by Riyadh to protect its security and interests. The latest Red Sea tensions followed the Houthis’ announcement of a naval blockade targeting Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia subsequently launched strikes against Houthi-held areas, while the Houthis later claimed attacks on Saudi oil facilities. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has meanwhile warned countries supporting US military operations against Tehran. An IRGC spokesperson said countries cooperating with Washington could become targets and specifically referred to Britain and Gulf states. US President Donald Trump has also reportedly paused plans for further strikes against Iran after nearly two weeks of military action. Reports suggested concerns over the availability of US air defence supplies in the region were among the factors behind the decision. The reported pause could provide additional space for diplomatic efforts, although it remains unclear whether it represents a temporary break or a broader halt to US strikes. US forces are reportedly maintaining contingency plans should major military operations resume.

Erica Robin urges Pakistan to protect children

Pakistan’s first Miss Universe, Erica Robin, used Independence Day to highlight an urgent issue facing children across the country, urging parents to take stronger measures to protect them from sexual abuse. In a message shared on social media, Robin said that while Independence Day is a time to celebrate Pakistan, the occasion should also be used to speak about serious social problems. She said recent reports of violence and abuse involving children were deeply disturbing and required greater awareness among families. Robin offered parents three key suggestions for protecting their children. First, she urged parents not to assume that children are automatically safe with relatives or other people they know. She said families should remain aware of who has regular access to their children, regardless of whether the child is a boy or a girl. Her second recommendation was to teach children about personal boundaries. Robin said children should understand that their bodies belong to them and that they have the right to refuse unwanted physical contact. Parents, she stressed, should never force children to hug, kiss or show affection to another person if they are uncomfortable. Robin identified open communication as the most important step. She encouraged parents to create an environment where children can speak freely about anything that makes them uncomfortable or frightened. She also advised parents to pay attention to sudden changes in a child’s behaviour, particularly when the child appears uneasy around a particular person. The model urged parents to share these lessons with others and work collectively to create an environment where children feel safe, respected and heard. Her message comes amid continuing concerns over child abuse in Pakistan. More than 1,900 cases of child abuse were reported across the country during the first half of the year, according to data cited in the report. Several recent cases have intensified public concern. In Karachi, police arrested a 17-year-old relative after the father of a young girl reported that she had gone out with him to buy something and later returned unconscious after being sexually assaulted. Earlier, the deaths of two young girls in Karachi and Sargodha also sparked outrage. Police investigations into both cases involved allegations of sexual violence, while several suspects were detained in connection with the incidents.

Millie Bobby Brown slams unfair scrutiny faced by ‘Stranger Things’ girls

Millie Bobby Brown is speaking candidly about the intense pressure she faced growing up on “Stranger Things.” Despite the show’s massive success, she says the experience was not equal for everyone in the cast. The actress shared her thoughts during an appearance on the “On Purpose” podcast with Jay Shetty. She opened up about a clear gender divide she noticed throughout her years on the series. Brown explained that she grew up on a show alongside four boys, and she is not dismissing their experiences either. She acknowledged they faced their own share of challenges throughout the years. However, she said the scrutiny placed on her and her female co-stars was on another level entirely. According to Brown, the pressure and judgment aimed at the girls felt genuinely intense compared to what the boys dealt with. She pointed out a stark contrast in how media coverage treated each gender differently. Brown said she never once saw headlines scrutinising her male co-stars’ outfits, hairstyles or makeup choices on the red carpet. Instead, she said those same headlines focused entirely on the boys’ talent and success. Brown made clear she is not against that kind of praise, noting the boys absolutely deserve recognition for their work. Her frustration, she explained, comes from not receiving that same treatment herself. Brown said she deserves to be written about for her accomplishments too, not torn down over her appearance. She admitted the double standard genuinely frustrates her, even now. Brown said she feels a strong sense of protectiveness toward younger girls entering the entertainment industry today. She stressed that intense scrutiny over appearance should not automatically become part of a young actress’s story. According to Brown, that narrative is something the industry chooses to create, not something that has to exist. Her comments add to a broader, ongoing conversation about the different expectations placed on young actresses compared to their male peers. Brown’s remarks reflect a growing awareness among former child stars about the lasting effects of early fame and public scrutiny.
