Krabi Man with Severe Knife Wound Flees Hospital, Collapses in Pool of Blood Outside Pattaya Convenience Store, Says He Was Assaulted on Jomtien Beach
PATTAYA, Thailand – A 35-year-old man from Krabi Province was found seriously injured and lying in a pool of blood outside a convenience store in Pattaya late Sunday night after reportedly fleeing a hospital while still suffering from untreated wounds.
At around 10 p.m. on August 2nd, 2026, officers from Muang Pattaya Police Station received a report of a critically injured man seeking help in front of a convenience store at the entrance to Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 22. Officers coordinated with rescue volunteers from Sawang Boribun Thammasathan in Pattaya, who rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders and The Pattaya News found a large crowd of locals and tourists gathered around the injured man, identified as Mr. Sadayu Engchuan, 35, from Krabi. He was lying exhausted in a pool of blood with significant blood loss. Examination revealed a large, deep laceration on his back caused by a knife. The wound was still bleeding heavily and appeared to have received only preliminary first aid earlier.
Rescue workers quickly worked to stop the bleeding and arranged for his urgent transfer to a local hospital, as the extensive blood loss posed a life-threatening risk.
In a brief statement to the press as he was cognizant, Mr. Sadayu said he had been assaulted at Jomtien Beach and that Pattaya officials had taken him to a hospital for treatment but decided to leave He declined to provide further details about the attack or its circumstances or why he fled the hospital.
According to rescue officials, the assault occurred in the early evening at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya. Authorities had transported him to hospital for treatment of his injuries. However, he left the facility before his wounds were fully treated. He then made his way to the entrance of Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 22, where he collapsed in front of the convenience store. Passersby discovered him and promptly alerted authorities.
Police are currently investigating the assault that took place in the Jomtien Beach area. Officers plan to conduct a detailed interview with the victim once his condition stabilizes in order to identify and pursue the suspect, as well as determine the motive behind the attack. They are also looking into why he left a hospital earlier while still injured.
