Mark Consuelos shocks Kelly Ripa with bold divorce…

Mark Consuelos had Kelly Ripa laughing after making an unexpected confession about what could keep him from ending their marriage. The Riverdale star jokingly revealed that his love for their dog, Lena, would be enough to make him stay in a “loveless marriage.”

The playful moment happened during the August 11 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. Ripa was discussing a proposed Pennsylvania bill that would give pets greater consideration in legal matters, including divorce. The conversation quickly became personal when the couple considered what might happen to Lena if they ever separated.

Consuelos made his feelings very clear. He explained that he loved Lena so much that he would rather remain in an unhappy marriage than risk not being able to see her every day.

His dramatic confession immediately sent Ripa into a fit of laughter. She jokingly asked whether a loveless marriage was really all he wanted from their relationship. Without missing a beat, she responded, “Done!” (People.com⁠)

Consuelos continued the joke by admitting that a divorce would leave him constantly wondering what Lena was doing. Ripa then playfully imagined Lena potentially receiving attention from another man, adding another layer to their hilarious exchange.

Behind the jokes, however, the conversation showed just how important Lena is to the couple. Consuelos and Ripa adopted their Maltese and Shih Tzu mix in 2021 after seeing her featured during a “Happy Pets” segment. The dog has since become a cherished member of their family. (People.com⁠)

The prices of the remaining 22 commodities remained unchanged. Onion prices surge sharply Among the major price increases, onions recorded the most significant weekly jump, becoming 24.68% more expensive compared with the previous week. The increase is likely to add further pressure on household food budgets, particularly for low-income consumers who are more exposed to fluctuations in basic food prices. The price of gram pulse increased by 3.35%, while chicken became 2.45% more expensive during the week. LPG prices also edged up by 0.67%. Other commodities that recorded weekly price increases included tea, mustard oil, yoghurt and masoor pulse, adding to the overall upward movement in the weekly inflation indicator. Petroleum prices provide some relief The weekly inflation reading was partly offset by declines in the prices of petroleum and several food items. Petrol prices decreased by 2.35% during the week, providing some relief to consumers and transport users. Tomato prices fell by 1.26%, while potatoes became 0.73% cheaper. Diesel prices also declined, though marginally, by 0.29%. Prices of bananas, moong pulse, eggs and sugar also recorded weekly decreases. Despite these reductions, the increase in the prices of several essential food items, particularly onions, pulses and chicken, kept overall weekly inflation in positive territory. Food prices remain major source of annual pressure The year-on-year comparison presents a more pronounced picture of price pressures in several essential commodities. Tomatoes recorded the largest annual increase, with prices rising by 143.77% compared with the same period last year. Onion prices were 125.75% higher, while wheat flour became 77.41% more expensive. LPG prices increased by 55.41% on an annual basis, while diesel recorded a 34.05% increase. Petrol prices were also 23.02% higher than a year earlier. The sharp annual increases in basic food items indicate that consumers continue to face significant pressure in meeting everyday household expenses, even though some commodities have become cheaper compared with last year. Several commodities become cheaper annually The annual data also showed declines in the prices of a number of commodities. Potato prices dropped by 30% compared with a year earlier, marking the largest annual decline among the commodities listed in the report. Sugar prices fell by 17.93%, while chicken became 17.45% cheaper on an annual basis. Gram pulse, eggs and moong pulse also recorded year-on-year declines. The contrasting movements highlight the uneven nature of inflation, with some essential commodities witnessing substantial annual increases while others have recorded notable reductions. The latest PBS figures suggest that although overall inflation remains elevated, price movements continue to vary considerably across different categories.     Cnergyico, Pakistan’s largest oil refiner, has increased its purchases of US crude as the federal government works to diversify the country’s energy supply following disruptions tied to the war in Iran that exposed how heavily Pakistan depends on Gulf shipping routes. The government is also pushing to expand imports from the United States as part of a broader effort to narrow its trade surplus with Washington and secure relief from tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. Cnergyico, which made its first purchase of US crude last year, is now weighing spot purchases alongside longer term supply contracts with Vitol and other suppliers, basing those decisions on pricing, reliability and supply security, Vice Chairman Usama Qureshi said. The refiner imported roughly 8.1 million barrels of US crude over a nine month stretch, including 7.1 million barrels worth about $750 million during the fiscal year that ended in June, according to Qureshi. Central bank data showed Pakistan’s payments for US imports climbed by $914 million to reach $3.27 billion during that fiscal year, meaning Cnergyico’s crude purchases accounted for roughly 80 percent of that overall increase. Qureshi said the refiner could expand its US crude purchases further if Pakistan’s proposed EXIM Bank trade finance facility gets extended to Cnergyico. Islamabad pitched that facility last month as a mechanism allowing Pakistani buyers to delay payments to US exporters for as long as three years. Pakistan has traditionally sourced most of its oil from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with roughly 90 percent of its oil and liquefied natural gas imports passing through the Strait of Hormuz before the war disrupted that route. Rising fuel costs have added pressure on Islamabad to respond, particularly as fresh protests over inflation and fuel prices broke out this week. The government has also pursued alternative supply routes, including Saudi crude delivered via the Yanbu port on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. Qureshi said Cnergyico is evaluating construction of a second offshore mooring facility linked to its existing storage network, which would allow the company to import and export refined products using large tankers outside Karachi’s congested ports. That project forms part of a broader $1.2 billion upgrade aimed at meeting Euro V fuel standards, reducing furnace oil output and expanding refining capacity to around 200,000 barrels per day. Fawad Basir, head of research at KTrade Securities, said the disruptions in the Middle East have underscored the risks of relying on a single supply corridor. He said using Very Large Crude Carriers to import US oil could reduce freight costs by 25 to 30 percent, while adding a second Single Point Mooring facility would speed up vessel turnaround times. Cnergyico currently processes 156,000 barrels of crude per day and operates Pakistan’s only single point mooring terminal near Karachi, giving it the unique ability among the country’s refiners to handle large tankers directly. The company plans to build a second offshore terminal to accommodate larger or more frequent shipments and intends to upgrade its refinery over the next five to six years. The refiner, which has been running at an average utilization rate of just 30 to 35 percent amid weak domestic demand, is betting that demand for refined oil products will strengthen in the years ahead.

    AJK assembly to elect prime minister on August 27

    MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly will elect the new prime minister on August 27, with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in a strong position to secure the top office. The election schedule was issued on Wednesday, setting out the timeline for nomination papers, scrutiny, withdrawal and polling. Under the schedule, candidates will submit their nomination papers between 9:30am and 10:30am. The scrutiny process will take place from 10:30am to 10:45am. The list of candidates will be displayed at 11am. Candidates will have 30 minutes, from 11am to 11:30am, to withdraw their nominations. The final list of candidates will be issued at noon. Polling for the office of prime minister will begin at 12:30pm in the Legislative Assembly. The newly elected prime minister is scheduled to take the oath between 4pm and 5pm on the same day. The PML-N has nominated party president Shah Ghulam Qadir for the position. Based on the current strength of the assembly, he is considered the leading candidate for the office. The recent AJK elections were conducted in three phases between July 27 and August 10. Polling was held in 38 of the 45 directly contested constituencies. The PML-N emerged as the largest parliamentary group by winning 25 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured 12 seats. The PML-N’s position was further strengthened after the lone elected member of the Awami Dast-o-Bazu party joined the ruling alliance. The PML-N currently has the backing of 32 members, compared with 14 members supporting the PPP. The numbers give the PML-N a clear advantage ahead of the prime ministerial election.
