Pakistani celebrities demand justice after toddler’s tragic death

A tragic incident in Karachi has sparked nationwide outrage after a 1.5-year-old girl died following an alleged sexual assault. According to police, the suspect is a 17-year-old boy who is reportedly the child’s cousin. Investigators said he took the toddler outside under the pretext of taking her for a walk before allegedly assaulting her. The child was later returned home in critical condition and was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. A medical examination reportedly indicated signs of sexual assault, while police arrested the suspect from his residence. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine all aspects of the case.

The heartbreaking incident has left people across Pakistan in shock and grief. Social media platforms have been flooded with messages demanding justice for the innocent victim, while public figures and celebrities have also spoken out against the horrific crime.

Actor Ahsan Khan shared his reaction on social media by posting about the incident and tagging the Sindh government, urging authorities to ensure justice is served. Actress Aiman Khan also expressed her anger through her Instagram Stories, writing that the country must begin imposing strict punishments on rapists to prevent such crimes from happening again.

Television personality Mishi Khan strongly condemned the incident and called for tougher action against those involved in sexual crimes against children. She questioned how such horrific acts continue to occur and argued that criminals feel emboldened because punishments are not severe enough. Mishi demanded exemplary public punishment for offenders and stressed that stricter measures should be introduced to discourage such crimes. She also urged the Sindh government to take immediate action and address factors that may contribute to such incidents.

Actress Mariyam Nafees also reacted to the tragedy, emphasizing the importance of child safety. She urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and avoid leaving young children unattended, stressing that constant supervision is essential to protect them from potential harm.

The incident has reignited conversations about child protection, public safety, and the need for stronger laws against sexual violence. Many people believe that stricter enforcement of existing laws, quicker trials, and harsher punishments are necessary to deter offenders and ensure justice for victims.

The case has also prompted widespread discussion among social media users, many of whom urged parents to be extra cautious regardless of whether children are with relatives, neighbors, or acquaintances. Several users stressed that children should never be left alone without trusted supervision and that parents should educate their children about personal safety from an early age.

Others highlighted the importance of teaching teenage boys and young men about respecting personal boundaries and treating younger children with care and responsibility. Some users also reflected on the challenges that can exist within extended family systems, saying that children are sometimes vulnerable to abuse even from people they know and trust. They argued that families should prioritize open communication, remain alert to warning signs, and create safe environments where children are protected and heard.

As the investigation continues, the tragic death of the toddler has become a painful reminder of the urgent need for stronger child protection measures, swift justice, and greater public awareness to prevent such devastating crimes from happening again.

Fake spiritual guru arrested in Pune over alleged …

A 23-year-old man posing as a motivational speaker, social media influencer and spiritual guide has been arrested in Pune, India, over allegations of obtaining private images of a 22-year-old woman and later using them to harass and threaten her. According to Indian media reports, police launched an investigation after the woman filed a complaint against the accused, identified as Divya Jitendra Parmar. Police subsequently arrested the suspect and seized a mobile phone and laptop believed to have been used in the alleged offence. Investigators said the accused had built an online persona portraying himself as a trusted motivational speaker and spiritual figure. He allegedly contacted the woman through social media and gradually gained her confidence. According to the complaint, the accused later told the woman that she needed to follow a particular method to remove what he described as negative energy from her body. Under this pretext, he allegedly persuaded her to share private images and follow certain physical exercises. Police allege that the accused subsequently used the images to harass the woman and threatened to circulate them if she refused to establish a sexual relationship with him. The woman then approached police and lodged a complaint. During the investigation, authorities reportedly seized the suspect’s mobile phone and laptop, along with photographs, videos, messages and other digital evidence. Police are examining the material to establish the full circumstances of the case. Investigators are also looking into whether the accused may have targeted other women using a similar method. This aspect of the investigation could determine whether the alleged incident was isolated or part of a wider pattern of online manipulation. The case has also highlighted the risks associated with individuals who use social media to build false identities and gain the trust of vulnerable people. Authorities have increasingly emphasized the importance of verifying online identities and reporting threats involving private images. Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations will be subject to the legal process. The case serves as another warning about the misuse of private digital content and the dangers of trusting unverified online personalities who claim to offer spiritual, motivational or personal guidance.

Maryam Nawaz’s electric bus gift to AJK sparks d…

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s decision to provide 10 electric buses to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has ignited a political and constitutional debate over the use of provincial resources outside Punjab. The controversy intensified after the buses arrived in Muzaffarabad just days before the first phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections. Maryam Nawaz shared a video on social media announcing that the green electric buses had reached Muzaffarabad. The buses carried banners featuring her photograph alongside the message, “A gift from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.” The announcement came only two days before polling in the Mirpur Division, where election campaigning was underway. At the time, Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif were in the region to campaign for their party’s candidates. The timing of the announcement prompted criticism from political opponents and legal observers, who questioned whether public resources should be used during an active election campaign. The issue has also sparked a broader debate over whether a provincial government can spend taxpayer-funded resources outside its constitutional jurisdiction. Critics argue that the Punjab government’s primary responsibility is to serve the residents of Punjab, while supporters maintain that intergovernmental cooperation and public welfare projects are permissible under certain circumstances. Senior PML-N leader and Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah defended the party’s participation in the election campaign. Speaking to local media, he stated that because Azad Jammu and Kashmir does not have a caretaker government during elections, federal and provincial ministers are legally allowed to campaign. However, Rana Sanaullah also acknowledged concerns about the electoral process. He suggested that the newly elected AJK Legislative Assembly should consider legal reforms to prevent governments in power from influencing elections through official positions or public resources. The controversy has renewed discussions about election ethics, transparency, and the appropriate use of taxpayer funds during political campaigns. Legal experts note that while development assistance between governments is not uncommon, the timing and political context of such announcements often determine whether they are viewed as administrative decisions or campaign-related activities. As political debate continues, the electric bus initiative has become a key issue in discussions about governance, constitutional authority, and the responsible use of provincial resources ahead of elections.

CBFC orders cuts in Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 b…

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited film Awarapan 2 has officially received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), but only after several significant edits were made. The film has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate, allowing viewers aged 16 and above to watch it under parental guidance. The CBFC approved the film on August 5, 2026, with a final runtime of 140 minutes and 20 seconds. However, before granting certification, the board instructed the filmmakers to implement changes at nine different points throughout the movie. According to reports, the CBFC asked the makers to tone down violent sequences, remove certain objectionable words from both the audio and subtitles, and include mandatory health warnings related to smoking and drug use. The board also directed the filmmakers to display the Hindi title prominently and ensure that anti-smoking messages remain visible during scenes featuring tobacco use. In addition, the certification body required a warning related to child trafficking to be included in the film. Some action scenes were shortened to reduce the intensity of violence, while one particular sequence was reportedly cut by nearly 50 percent. A scene involving drug inhalation was also modified to comply with certification guidelines. The end credits were adjusted to better align with the background music. Overall, approximately four minutes of footage were removed, while another 20 seconds of content were altered. Despite these edits, the film’s official runtime remains unchanged at 140 minutes and 20 seconds. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles. The film serves as the sequel to the 2007 hit Awarapan and continues the emotional storytelling of the original while introducing a darker, revenge-driven narrative. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the sequel also reunites composer Mithoon and lyricist Sayeed Quadri. Fans can look forward to refreshed versions of the iconic songs “To Phir Aao” and “Tera Mera Rishta,” along with several new tracks created specifically for the film. With the required CBFC changes now completed, Awarapan 2 is set for a theatrical release on August 14, 2026. The film is expected to attract both longtime fans of the original and new audiences eager to see Emraan Hashmi return to one of his most memorable franchises.
