Pattaya Mayor Outlines Disease Surveillance Policy and Motivates Disease Response Team at Workshop
PATTAYA, Thailand – On July 24th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet chaired a policy briefing for motivating members of the city’s Surveillance and Rapid Response Team (SRRT) in their work on disease surveillance, prevention and control. The session formed part of a practical workshop for knowledge exchange on preventing and controlling communicable diseases.
The event was held in the Thappraya Meeting Room at Pattaya City Hall. Among those present were Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Roemkijakarn, members of the mayor’s secretariat, the president and members of the Pattaya City Council, assistant secretaries, heads of relevant government departments and officials, as well as SRRT team members from across the city.
Following the mayor’s policy address, SRRT members presented flowers to congratulate the city administration. The gathering also included birthday wishes for team members born in June and July 2026, along with the presentation of compensation payments to the SRRT members as a gesture of encouragement. The atmosphere was warm and lively.
Mayor Poramese stated that the Pattaya SRRT serves as a rapid-response disease surveillance network covering four zones and every community within the city. He described the team as a vital component in strengthening public health, particularly given Pattaya’s status as a major tourist destination. In the event of emerging diseases that could spread to the city or Thailand, the SRRT would play a key role in monitoring and response, working in coordination with the Disease Prevention and Control Division under the Public Health Office.
The mayor noted that Pattaya City organises ongoing practical workshops of this kind. Activities during the session included reports on the current situation of diseases under surveillance, demonstrations on the proper use of face masks, selection of mosquito-repellent lotions, basic first aid, CPR techniques, use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and joint discussion of operational plans for the 2027 fiscal year. Participants also reflected on challenges in local disease prevention and control efforts.
The goal, he said, is to strengthen the SRRT network so it can proactively address disease and health threats for the public, advancing Pattaya toward becoming a sustainably healthy city.
