Khao Kheow Open Zoo Unveils “Nong Nueng” the Clouded Leopard Exhibit, Offers Free Entry for Children on July 28th
CHONBURI, Thailand – July 24th, 2026 – Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi Province has opened a new exhibit featuring “Nong Nueng,” an 8-year-old female clouded leopard, allowing the public, tourists, and wildlife enthusiasts to observe the rare animal up close and learn about its behavior.
The exhibit is located within the botanical garden section of the zoo. Clouded leopards are a protected species distinguished by their distinctive cloud-like coat patterns. Highly skilled climbers, these elusive predators play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of Asian forests.
Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, said the new display is to promote wildlife conservation education, raise awareness of biodiversity’s importance, and give visitors the chance to experience a rare wild animal in a suitable environment.
“Khao Kheow Open Zoo is committed to developing a learning center on wildlife and nature for people of all ages,” Mr. Narongwit stated. “This goes hand in hand with our work in conservation, research, and the breeding of rare species to develop understanding and instill a lasting sense of responsibility for natural resources.”
In addition, the zoo invites visitors to a special event on July 28th, 2026. On that day only, children aged 12 and under, or those measuring 135 centimeters or less in height, will be admitted free of charge. The program includes activities throughout the day such as meeting popular wildlife mascots, a Night Zoo experience for viewing animals after dark in a unique atmosphere, and close-up educational encounters with a wide variety of wildlife.
