PML-N vows to deliver on Kashmir promises

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said the time has come to fulfill the commitments made to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), following the party’s strong performance in the region’s elections.

Addressing an election rally in Haveli, Rana Sanaullah said the people of AJK had already expressed their confidence in PML-N through their vote. He stated that the party had secured 24 seats in the elections, surpassing the 23-seat threshold required to form the government in the Legislative Assembly.

He described the electoral process as one of the fairest and most transparent in AJK’s history, saying voters had placed their trust in former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the party’s development agenda. According to him, PML-N now carries the responsibility of honoring every promise made during the election campaign.

Rana Sanaullah said AJK witnessed significant progress whenever PML-N governed both Pakistan and the region. He pledged that the party would launch a new phase of development if it formed the next government, adding that projects similar to those introduced in Punjab would also be implemented across AJK to improve infrastructure, public services, and economic opportunities.

He said the party remains committed to accelerating development, strengthening institutions, and improving the quality of life for the people of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam also addressed the gathering and praised the resilience of residents living along the Line of Control (LoC). He said the people of the border areas have made extraordinary sacrifices in defending the country and deserve continued recognition and support.

Amir Muqam said the PML-N leadership has consistently stood with the people of Kashmir and remains committed to safeguarding their interests while pursuing policies aimed at development, stability, and prosperity in the region.

    The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) shared victories in the delayed second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, with each party securing one constituency in Muzaffarabad, according to unofficial and provisional results. The polling in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I and LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II was held after voting in several polling stations was postponed on August 2 due to heavy rainfall and landslides that disrupted transportation and created safety concerns for voters and election staff. In LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I, PML-N candidate Noreen Arif was declared the winner after receiving 18,919 votes. She defeated Sardar Tabarak Ali of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), who secured 18,621 votes, giving the PML-N candidate a narrow lead of 298 votes. Meanwhile, PPP candidate Bazil Ali Naqvi emerged victorious in LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II. He received 28,170 votes, defeating PML-N candidate Chaudhry Shehzad, who polled 26,864 votes. The unofficial results gave Naqvi a winning margin of 1,306 votes. Election authorities had postponed polling at 57 polling stations across the two constituencies after severe weather and landslides affected access to several areas. Once conditions improved and logistical arrangements were completed, voting was conducted peacefully under the supervision of election officials. With the completion of vote counting, the unofficial results confirmed PML-N’s continued dominance in the Muzaffarabad Division. The party has secured 15 of the division’s 21 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party has won six seats, making it the second-largest political force in the region.

    PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march planned for September 27 will focus on reaching party founder Imran Khan rather than demanding his immediate release. Speaking in an interview with private media, Afridi said he would personally lead the march and stressed that it would not be a one-day activity. He indicated that the participants would remain engaged in the movement rather than simply travelling to Islamabad and returning. Afridi said the decision to launch the march was taken after consultations with PTI leadership and representatives of the Tehreek Tahafuz Aain-e-Pakistan. He added that Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, would also participate in the campaign.     Balochistan rail operations fully restored

    Train services between Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan have resumed after a one-day suspension caused by railway track repair work. Railway officials confirmed that operations were restored after maintenance teams completed the necessary repairs. The restoration of rail services is expected to provide relief to passengers who were affected by the temporary suspension. Travellers can now continue their journeys through the regular train schedule, while railway authorities have assured passengers that they will continue monitoring the track to ensure safe and uninterrupted operations. Pakistan Railways periodically carries out maintenance work on its network to improve safety and operational efficiency. Officials urged passengers to stay updated on train schedules through official railway channels, particularly when maintenance work or weather conditions affect rail operations.
