Police Arrest Ugandan Woman for Allegedly Stealing Valuables Worth 40,000 Baht from American Tourist’s Hotel Safe in Pattaya

PATTAYA – Pattaya Police arrested a 36-year-old Ugandan woman on Friday morning after she allegedly stole cash in the amount of over 1,200 USD from an American tourist’s hotel safe by secretly memorizing the combination and then fled toward Walking Street.

At 11:00 a.m. on August 14tg, 2026, under the direction of Police Colonel Milin Pianchang, superintendent of Division 2, Tourist Police Bureau Region 1, along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Pitchaya Khieopleuang, deputy superintendent of the same division, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Prapda Suksunthree, inspector of Tourist Police Sub-division 4, officers from Tourist Police Sub-division 4, Division 2, Tourist Police Bureau Region 1, apprehended Miss Florence, a Ugandan national.

According to police, an American tourist had taken the woman to his hotel room to hang out in South Pattaya. While the victim opened the in-room safe, Florence allegedly observed and memorized the code. She later took advantage of a moment when the tourist was in the bathroom, opened the safe, and stole several items before fleeing toward the Walking Street area.

The victim reported the theft to tourist police, who tracked Florence down in front of a fast-food restaurant. They conducted a body search and recovered the stolen cash, which had been concealed in the woman’s wig, brassiere, and the front of her underwear. The recovered money consisted of twelve US$100 bills and six US$2 bills, with a total value of approximately 40,000 baht.

Police charged Florence with theft, informed her of her legal rights, and are proceeding with further legal action.
