The announcement was made during a public gathering near the motorway in Peshawar, where PTI leaders said the planned demonstration would go ahead unless progress is made on several issues, including regular meetings with Imran Khan, access to his personal physician, and timely hearings of court cases involving the former prime minister.

Addressing supporters, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said the party had pursued every available constitutional and legal avenue but had failed to achieve the desired outcomes. He argued that the party had little confidence in the judicial process and claimed that recent constitutional amendments had affected the functioning of the courts.

Gandapur also alleged that PTI supporters had faced excessive force during previous demonstrations. He questioned the continued detention of Imran Khan and reiterated the party’s position that the former premier’s removal from office was the result of external interference. He further claimed that Pakistan’s economy had performed better during Imran Khan’s tenure and criticized the current government’s handling of economic and security challenges.

The chief minister also expressed concern over inflation, unemployment, law and order, and the country’s overall economic situation. He accused the federal government of mismanagement and urged supporters to remain united ahead of the planned protest.

Speaking at the same event, PTI leader Sohail Afridi said the party had exhausted all legal and constitutional options before deciding to launch another protest movement. He maintained that the planned march was intended to demand justice rather than political concessions.

Afridi announced that PTI would proceed towards Islamabad on September 27 if its demands remained unaddressed. He told supporters that the party was seeking what it described as judicial justice and the restoration of legal rights for its leader.

The planned demonstration is expected to become one of PTI’s major political mobilization efforts in the coming months. Party leaders have called on supporters from across the country to participate peacefully in the protest.

The federal government has not yet issued a detailed response to PTI’s latest announcement. Political observers say the coming weeks will be important as both sides weigh their next steps amid Pakistan’s evolving political landscape.

Some journalists and even members of the White House staff were also reportedly unaware of the change. Trump had travelled to Ankara for a NATO summit held on July 7 and 8. The reported security threat emerged during his visit. The operation reportedly took place shortly after US forces resumed strikes against Iran. The strikes followed the collapse of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung defended the security arrangements. He said the aircraft being used as Air Force One had been equipped with advanced security measures. Cheung said the president faced threats from several enemies of the United States. He added that the administration was using all available measures to protect him. The reported security operation comes as tensions between the United States and Iran remain high. Oil prices rise amid escalation fears Global oil prices also climbed sharply as markets reacted to Trump’s latest comments on Iran. Brent crude rose around 5% on Monday. It reached about $87.70 per barrel, its highest level in nearly two weeks. US West Texas Intermediate crude also gained around 5.1%. It reached approximately $82.20 per barrel. The rise came after Trump said the United States still had the option of taking stronger action against Iran.     LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said the province was setting benchmarks in good governance, development and progress, adding that Punjab had emerged as a leader in every field. Addressing the passing-out parade of Lady Recruit Course-18 at the Police Training College, Chung, the chief minister said Punjab was the only province where women were serving as chief minister, in the police force, and as commissioners and district police officers (DPOs). She said no force in the world could stop the progress and prosperity of a country where 51 per cent of the population actively contributed to national development. CM Punjab said she felt immense pride in the courage and determination displayed by Punjab’s daughters, describing each visit to the training college as an emotional experience. She praised the recruits for successfully completing rigorous training, including handling heavy weapons. Congratulating the families of the recruits, she said the parents deserved equal recognition for encouraging their daughters to serve the nation despite outdated social norms. “As capable as these daughters are, equally remarkable are the parents who sent them to serve the country without caring about obsolete traditions,” she said. She said the graduating batch of 1,156 women was the largest in Punjab’s history, while more than 6,000 women were already serving in the Punjab Police. The chief minister said wearing the police uniform marked the beginning of a great responsibility, which had to be fulfilled with honesty, hardwork and justice. Although she did not wear the uniform herself, she said she remained fully conscious of its dignity and sanctity. She said the government was committed to making Punjab’s cities, roads and streets completely safe for women. Expressing satisfaction over the increasing confidence of women travelling independently on scooters, she said girls going to schools, colleges and workplaces no longer needed anyone’s assistance. “Take out your bike and go, because Punjab is now safe,” she remarked. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz claimed that the crime rate in Punjab had reached its lowest level in history. Recalling criticism when she assumed office, she said many believed governance and maintaining law and order were not the responsibility of women. “I was also told that this was not women’s work, but today the way Punjab is progressing is being cited as an example around the world,” she said. She urged the recruits not to pay attention to those who questioned their abilities and instead focus on physical fitness, professional competence and career development. She encouraged them to exercise regularly, maintain a balanced diet, and strive for higher positions in the police service. Addressing the Inspector General of Police, she called for paving the way for Punjab’s first female inspector general. “If a woman can become the chief minister, then no position is beyond reach,” she said. The chief minister said the presence of 1,156 newly-trained women officers in the field would help ensure that no woman in Punjab felt unsafe. She directed the recruits to inspire confidence among the public so that citizens felt protected whenever they saw a police officer. Referring to women entering different professions, she said many women now drove taxis independently to earn a respectable livelihood, reflecting improved security conditions in the province. CM Punjab said the Punjab Police had received record and historic investment under her government. She added that unnecessary layers of protocol had been removed and she remained in direct contact with the police force. She said she had worn the police uniform symbolically to restore the dignity and respect of the force. Whenever questions were raised about the police, she added, she had also accepted responsibility for the institution’s shortcomings. “We are one team, and it is because of this unity that Punjab is achieving remarkable progress,” she said. The chief minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had established Lahore as a Safe City through a CCTV surveillance system, while the facility was now being expanded to 40 districts across Punjab. She claimed that suspects were now being arrested within two hours and that crime-sensitive districts often went days or even weeks without any major crime being reported. She advised the recruits never to consider themselves inferior to anyone and urged them to continue improving both personally and professionally. Stressing the importance of continuous learning, she said she herself learned something new every day while managing the affairs of the state and encouraged the recruits to adopt modern methods of smart and proactive policing. Concluding her address, CM Punjab once again congratulated the parents and said the ceremony had proved that daughters were a source of pride and honour.     Hawaii is grappling with widespread flash flooding after Hurricane Lala skirted the Big Island as a category one storm, bringing powerful winds and heavy rain that officials say may have swept some homes off their foundations. Tens of thousands of properties across the islands have lost power, and officials have urged residents to brace for life threatening conditions, including mudslides, as the storm continues tracking westward south of Hawaii. Lala strengthened into a hurricane on Saturday, with wind speeds reaching a peak of 91 miles per hour, or 147 kilometers per hour, and forecasters say the storm could dump as much as 35 inches, or 89 centimeters, of rain in some areas. Hawaii Governor Josh Green said Saturday that one person died in a weather related car accident on Big Island, where numerous roads have been affected by the storm. Hawaii County officials said that as of 1:00 a.m. local time Sunday, two areas on Big Island had experienced flash flooding, warning that several occupied homes may have been swept off their foundations. Big Island Mayor Kimo Alameda said the county’s civil defense agency launched a search and rescue operation to locate residents whose homes may have been carried away by floodwaters. He described the rescue effort as especially difficult given the combination of rushing water, debris, boulders blocking roads and darkness. Footage released by Hawaii’s Department of Transportation shows roads submerged under fast moving water and blocked by fallen trees. Green urged residents to prepare for what he called an incredible amount of water and pleaded with people to stay off the roads during the storm, delivering the warning in a video posted to social media. The governor said 190 flights have been postponed as a result of the storm. At Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, Big Island’s largest airport, 40 percent of flights were grounded Saturday according to flight tracking service FlightAware, while roughly 80 percent of flights were canceled at Hilo International, the island’s other major airport. The National Weather Service issued its most severe warnings for areas in Big Island’s southeast, the region that came closest to the hurricane’s center, saying major rainfall flooding could prompt widespread evacuations and rescues as rivers and tributaries rapidly overflow their banks in multiple locations. Nearly 115,000 customers had lost power across Hawaii as of Sunday morning local time, according to the tracking service PowerOutage. Green said three hospitals also lost electricity but continued operating on backup generators. In Maui, some residents have been without water service since Saturday afternoon. A county statement said crews who responded to assess the situation were forced to turn back due to worsening weather and multiple downed trees, adding that repair work would resume once conditions allow safe access. Meteorologist Jennifer Myers, who lives in Hilo on Big Island’s eastern coast, said landslides have already cut off some roads while falling trees have torn down power lines in the area. Describing the view from her apartment overlooking the Wailuku River where it meets Hilo Bay, she said the water level had risen dramatically and that the bay, normally blue, had turned a deep red from sediment and runoff pouring into it. The hurricane ultimately did not make landfall on Big Island as some forecasts had suggested was possible, instead passing within 30 miles, or 48 kilometers, of the island’s South Point. Tropical storm warnings remain in effect across all eight of Hawaii’s major islands, including Big Island, Maui, Molokai, Kahoolawe, Oahu, Lanai, Kauai and Niihau. Big Island had previously been under a full hurricane warning. The National Hurricane Center said damaging winds and heavy rain will continue across Big Island overnight before spreading westward to the smaller islands on Sunday. Officials had repeatedly urged residents to prepare ahead of the storm’s arrival. Social media posts from local community groups showed residents filling sandbags to protect their homes and asking about store hours in the early hours of Saturday. Hawaii County’s Civil Defense Agency said public shelters remain open across every district on Big Island.
