PTI questions Imran Khan’s transfer to Pims

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leaders have raised serious questions over the decision to take former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) instead of Shifa International Hospital.

The issue has created a fresh political dispute between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaking in the National Assembly, senior politician and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai said a positive atmosphere had developed after reports emerged that Imran would be taken to hospital.

Achakzai said people across Pakistan were happy to hear that Imran was being taken to hospital for a medical examination.

He said his party had instructed its workers not to go to any hospital. The decision was aimed at avoiding any situation that could create security problems, he added.

Achakzai also claimed that Imran’s sisters were stopped at Shifa International Hospital. He said the development had caused concern among people across the country.

He questioned why the situation changed after an apparently positive atmosphere had developed.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan strongly criticised the decision to take Imran to Pims.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Gohar said the party had not expected Imran to be taken to another hospital.

He also expressed concern over the lack of clear information about the former prime minister’s medical examination.

Gohar claimed that the Supreme Court’s order had not been implemented. He said the court’s directive was clear and contained no ambiguity.

According to Gohar, failure to implement a clear judicial order was unfortunate.

He questioned how democracy could function if court orders could not be implemented.

“If implementing a court order is difficult, then how will democracy function?” he asked.

Gohar also said political negotiations could not take place under such circumstances. He maintained that democracy required institutions and political actors to respect the law and judicial decisions.

Despite his criticism, the PTI chairman said his party remained committed to negotiations.

He said the PTI wanted political disputes to be resolved through dialogue. He added that efforts in this regard would continue.

The controversy follows Information Minister Attaullah Tarar’s statement about Imran’s medical examination.

Tarar said Imran was examined at Pims rather than Shifa International Hospital. He said doctors from Shifa were also present during the medical examination.

The government has maintained that security concerns led authorities to take Imran to Pims.

The issue has now become a new point of confrontation between the government and PTI.

The PTI is questioning the decision to change the hospital and the implementation of the Supreme Court’s directive. The government, meanwhile, is defending the move on security and medical grounds.

Amy Winehouse’s father loses court battle over s…

Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, has suffered a major legal setback after losing a High Court battle over the sale of the late singer’s personal belongings. The ruling brings an end to a long-running dispute involving two of Amy’s closest friends and has resulted in Mitch being ordered to pay nearly £1 million in legal costs.  The case centered on dozens of items once owned by the Grammy-winning singer, who died in 2011 at the age of 27. Acting as the administrator of Amy Winehouse’s estate, Mitch Winehouse claimed that her longtime stylist, Naomi Parry, and close friend, Catriona Gourlay, had improperly sold the singer’s possessions at auctions in the United States in 2021 and 2023 without his consent. He argued that the items belonged to the estate and sought financial compensation.  However, the High Court rejected Mitch’s claims after hearing evidence from both sides. Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay maintained that the belongings had either been gifted to them by Amy herself or already belonged to them. The court accepted their explanation and ruled that there had been no deliberate attempt to conceal the auction sales.  Deputy High Court Judge Sarah Clarke was also critical of Mitch Winehouse’s handling of the case. According to the judgment, the court found that he had pursued weak claims without properly checking the facts before initiating legal proceedings. The judge further stated that he was an unreliable witness and awarded legal costs on an indemnity basis, a decision that reflected the court’s disapproval of the way the litigation had been conducted.  Following the ruling, Mitch was ordered to make interim payments totaling just under £1 million toward the legal costs incurred by Parry and Gourlay. In addition to those payments, reports indicate that Mitch also accumulated substantial legal expenses of his own during the lengthy court battle.  Naomi Parry welcomed the verdict, saying the judgment completely cleared her name after years of accusations that she described as deeply damaging to her reputation. She also expressed relief that the legal dispute had finally come to an end.  Amy Winehouse remains one of Britain’s most celebrated musical talents, remembered for iconic songs including Rehab and Back to Black. Although the legal dispute has concluded, the case has once again drawn public attention to the management of her legacy and the challenges surrounding the preservation of her personal belongings. With the court’s ruling now in place, the long-running dispute appears to have finally reached its conclusion.

Government cuts petrol and diesel prices after lat…

The federal government has announced a reduction in petroleum prices, providing some relief to consumers across Pakistan. According to the latest notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs2.20 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has become cheaper by Rs1.50 per litre. After the reduction, petrol will now be available at Rs327.62 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been revised to Rs380.86 per litre. The new prices will come into effect from August 8, 2026, according to the official notification. The government continues to impose taxes and duties on petroleum products, including Rs110 per litre on petrol and Rs96 per litre on high-speed diesel. These charges remain a significant component of fuel prices paid by consumers. The latest reduction follows changes in international oil market trends and fluctuations in global fuel prices. In recent months, petroleum rates in Pakistan witnessed major increases due to uncertainty in international markets, particularly after tensions and conflict-related developments in the Middle East affected oil supply concerns. High-speed diesel prices had reached a record level of Rs520.35 per litre on April 3, after rising from Rs281 per litre following the escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran. Similarly, petrol prices had climbed to Rs458.41 per litre during the same period after starting from around Rs266 per litre in early March. Earlier, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that fuel prices would be adjusted more frequently, including possible daily revisions, due to rapid changes in international oil markets. The government assigned the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) the responsibility of determining fuel prices based on global trends. The decision to introduce daily fuel price adjustments faced opposition from the All Pakistan Dealers Association, which raised concerns and indicated that it may consider a protest strategy. Petrol remains one of the most widely used fuels in Pakistan, mainly powering private vehicles, motorcycles, rickshaws, and small transport vehicles. Any change in petrol prices directly affects household budgets, particularly for middle- and lower-income groups. High-speed diesel also plays a critical role in the economy as it is widely used in heavy transport, agricultural machinery, power generation plants, and industrial operations. Changes in diesel prices often influence transportation costs and can impact the prices of essential goods. The latest reduction is expected to provide limited relief to consumers, while future fuel prices will continue to depend on international crude oil markets, exchange rates, and government taxation policies.

Bunnie Xo explores new career chapter after report…

Bunnie Xo is reportedly turning the page on a new chapter of her life by exploring opportunities in reality television following her high-profile divorce from country music star Jelly Roll. According to People, the podcast host, author and entrepreneur has been holding meetings with producers, agents and production companies in Los Angeles as she considers starring in her own reality TV series. The reported project would mark Bunnie’s biggest step yet into mainstream entertainment as she continues to expand her career beyond podcasting.  The 46-year-old, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, has spent recent weeks embracing what she calls a fresh start after finalizing her divorce from Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord. The former couple ended their nearly 10-year marriage earlier this summer in what has been described as an amicable split. Court records cited irreconcilable differences, and both agreed to keep details of the separation private while maintaining respect for one another.  Sources told People that Bunnie is eager to focus on new professional goals and has been seriously exploring television opportunities. One reported concept would follow her move into a shared compound with close friends, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at her personal life, business ventures and friendships. However, no official deal has been announced, and discussions are still in the early stages.  Bunnie first gained a loyal audience through her hit Dumb Blonde podcast, where she interviews celebrities, musicians and internet personalities while also speaking openly about her own life. Her candid personality and willingness to discuss difficult topics have helped her build a large following across social media platforms.  Since the divorce, Bunnie has continued sharing updates about her life with fans. She recently revealed that she is focusing on healing, personal growth and new experiences rather than jumping into another relationship. She has also documented several lifestyle changes, including moving into a new home, purchasing a luxury Rolls-Royce and planning to return to school by enrolling at Arizona State University for a double major.  Although public interest in her personal life remains high, Bunnie has emphasized that she wants to shape her own future through new creative projects. A reality series could give audiences a closer look at her life after divorce while showcasing the entrepreneurial side that has helped her build a successful media brand.  For now, Bunnie’s reported television ambitions remain in development, but the interest from Hollywood producers suggests she could soon become a familiar face on reality TV. As she navigates life after her marriage, she appears determined to transform a difficult personal chapter into an opportunity for professional growth, proving that sometimes the end of one journey can become the beginning of another.
