Father seeks fresh post-mortem in Mir Raza case

The father of deceased businessman Mir Raza Ali has decided to seek a second post-mortem examination, saying he is not satisfied with the initial medical report or the progress of the investigation into his son’s death. Mir Hussain said he will move the court to request a fresh medical examination. He believes the first post-mortem did not fully explain the circumstances of his son’s death and has called for a transparent and impartial investigation. Mir Raza Ali, an IBA graduate and businessman, went missing on the night of July 28 after leaving his home. According to his family, he told them he would return within a few minutes. However, he did not come back. His body was found the following day in bushes in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. The victim’s father has rejected the theory that his son died by suicide. He insists that Mir Raza was murdered and claims attempts are being made to present the incident as a suicide. He alleged that his son’s body showed signs of violence, including burns to the face, body and fingerprints. He also claimed that Mir Raza was shot from behind and questioned why the initial medical report focused only on the gunshot injury without mentioning other visible injuries. Mir Hussain further questioned what happened to his son during the nearly 24 hours between his disappearance and the recovery of his body. He said Mir Raza had spoken to his sister before leaving home and appeared to be in a normal mood. According to the family, the taxi driver who dropped him off also told investigators that the businessman seemed cheerful and was singing during the journey. Preliminary medical findings indicated that the victim died from a gunshot wound. The report estimated that the body was between 24 and 36 hours old when examined. Medical officials also noted facial injuries and marks on one of his hands. The bullet’s path suggested it entered from the back and exited through the front. To ensure a thorough inquiry, Karachi police have constituted a three-member special investigation team. The team has been directed to examine every aspect of the case, identify those responsible and submit daily progress reports to senior police officials. Investigators have also reviewed the victim’s mobile phone records and forensic evidence. According to officials, the data indicates that Mir Raza had been facing financial difficulties. Authorities said he had reportedly sent a message to a friend shortly before his death requesting a loan of Rs30 million. Police have recorded statements from 15 individuals, including the taxi driver who last transported the victim and the person who first informed authorities about the body.

Justice Babar Sattar has been directed to vacate his official residence in Islamabad after the cancellation of its government allotment following his transfer to the Peshawar High Court. According to an official notice issued by the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Sattar has been given 30 days to hand over the residence. The notice states that the Estate Office cancelled the allotment of the government house on July 3 after his transfer from the Islamabad High Court to the Peshawar High Court. The document explains that the one-month notice period began on July 3, the same day the official accommodation was withdrawn. Justice Sattar has been instructed to vacate the residence within that period in accordance with government rules governing official housing for judges transferred to another high court. The move follows Justice Sattar’s transfer to the Peshawar High Court, where he is expected to perform his judicial duties after leaving the Islamabad High Court. Sources familiar with the matter said that after the transfer, Justice Sattar did not apply for or obtain an official residence in Peshawar. Instead, he reportedly decided to continue staying in the government house allotted to him in Islamabad. The notice highlights that the cancellation of the residence allotment was carried out by the Estate Office, making the continued occupation of the house subject to the expiry of the notice period. The registrar’s office formally communicated the decision to ensure compliance with the applicable administrative procedures. The development comes as part of the routine administrative process that follows the transfer of judges between high courts. Pakistan links JAAC protests to India-funded forei…

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has alleged that violent protests by the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are being driven by militant elements pursuing a foreign agenda with Indian funding, as the government moves to restore order following the first phase of regional elections. Speaking on Tuesday, Tarar maintained that while the recent elections in the Mirpur division were peaceful and transparent, the banned outfit could not accept the democratic process and resorted to violence. He noted that the people of Kashmir had given a “spectacular response” to the elections, with 600,000 votes cast in Rawalakot alone. Tarar claimed that investigators have uncovered irrefutable evidence linking the JAAC’s social media campaign to India. Security agencies recently arrested a digital marketing services provider whose payment trails were traced to Indian gateways. According to the minister, an entire misinformation network was operating through bot farms to spread anti-state content targeting Pakistan’s sovereignty, government institutions, and armed forces. The investigation also recovered WhatsApp conversations between the arrested suspect and an Indian operator discussing payments and content amplification. “The investigation found that the entire misinformation network was operating through bot farms,” Tarar stated, adding that forensic analysis identified India-based accounts even when VPNs were used. State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry emphasized that the government had accepted 37 out of 38 JAAC demands, with only the issue of refugee seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly remaining unresolved due to constitutional complexities. “Thirty-seven out of 38 JAAC demands were accepted, and the government of Pakistan fully cooperated with them,” Chaudhry said. He noted that the movement was not about securing rights but about “snatching” the rights of AJK people. The minister questioned the timing of the protests, noting that JAAC initially tried to stop the election schedule in AJK. “When they failed, JAAC members started long marches, sit-ins, strikes, blocked roads and disrupted activities across the region,” he added. The AJK government has declared JAAC a proscribed organization under the Anti-Terrorism Act, and authorities have announced a Rs10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of four wanted JAAC leaders. Officials allege that armed members of the group have engaged in violence, resulting in injuries to police personnel. The federal government has assured full support to AJK authorities in maintaining law and order.
