‘Stop crying’: Maryam takes aim at Bilawal

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has urged the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to accept its defeat in the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections instead of making allegations of rigging.

In a video statement, Maryam responded to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s criticism of the election results. She said the PPP should accept the outcome “with an open heart” and focus on its political responsibilities.

Maryam said complaints and accusations would not change the election results. She also advised the PPP to concentrate on governance rather than questioning the electoral process.

Her statement came after Bilawal strongly criticised the PML-N and raised questions about the conduct of the AJK elections. Speaking at a workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal questioned whether the situation in AJK could be described as genuine democracy.

Bilawal claimed that PPP candidates had received strong public support and suggested that the party’s performance did not reflect the votes and expectations of the people. He also questioned whether political interests were being prioritised over the wider interests of AJK.

The remarks triggered a political exchange between the two parties following the completion of polling in the first phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections.

According to unofficial and provisional results, the PML-N emerged as the leading party by winning nine of the 13 constituencies contested in the first phase. The PPP secured the remaining four seats across the Mirpur division.

The results prompted celebrations among PML-N workers and supporters, while the PPP raised concerns over the electoral process.

The first phase covered constituencies in Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber. Voting was held on July 27, with polling time extended by one hour after the scheduled closing time.

The electoral contest has intensified political competition between the PML-N and PPP in AJK.

PTI rift deepens as Salman Akram Raja, Mashal Yous…

ISLAMABAD: Differences within the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) have intensified as senior party figures Salman Akram Raja and Mashal Yousafzai exchanged allegations over party affairs and accusations related to the alleged sale of tickets. Salman Akram Raja criticised those who, according to him, were unable to pursue the matter through legal channels and had instead resorted to what he described as baseless allegations against Mashal Yousafzai over ticket-selling claims. Raja also said he did not know who had nominated Yousafzai as a senator, maintaining that the decision had been made on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan. He added that he did not have the authority to remove her from the Senate. In response, Mashal Yousafzai alleged that Raja had made his recent statements after apologising to the PTI founder. She challenged the party leadership to take action against Raja if it had the authority to remove him from the party. The dispute has also drawn comments from PTI leader Shandana Gulzar, who questioned Raja’s remarks concerning money. She raised questions over the whereabouts of millions of rupees allegedly received from the United States and said that those responsible would face serious consequences if the matter was investigated. The exchange has added to growing tensions within the opposition party, with allegations and counter-allegations emerging as its leadership continues to grapple with internal disagreements.

Search operation resumes for seven missing Broad Peak climbers

GILGIT: Search and rescue teams resumed their operation on Saturday morning to locate seven climbers who remain missing after a deadly avalanche struck Broad Peak earlier this week. The mission restarted after weather conditions improved, allowing rescuers to return to one of the world’s most challenging mountain environments. The rescue operation had been suspended late Friday because of heavy snowfall, poor visibility and the continuing risk of avalanches. Officials said improving weather conditions enabled both ground and air teams to resume the search. The avalanche occurred on Thursday while a 10-member international expedition was climbing Broad Peak, an 8,047-metre mountain in Pakistan’s Karakoram range. According to regional authorities, the climbers were ascending at an altitude of around 6,600 metres when they were caught in the massive avalanche. Three climbers were confirmed dead after their bodies were recovered on Friday. The deceased were identified as Omani climber Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy, Nepali mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung and American climber Mallory Geis. Their bodies were later airlifted to Skardu. Seven climbers are still missing. They include internationally renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja, fellow Nepali climbers Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa and Gyalu Sherpa, Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi and Chinese climber Wang Zhong. According to the local administration, a three-member civilian rescue team led by renowned Pakistani mountaineer Sarbaz Khan resumed the ground search on Saturday morning. Experienced Nepali climbers already stationed at the Broad Peak base camp also joined the rescue effort to assist in locating the missing mountaineers. Pakistan Army helicopters have also been deployed to support the operation. Rescue officials said helicopters are assisting with aerial surveillance, transporting rescue personnel and assessing areas that remain inaccessible by foot. Officials from the Alpine Club of Pakistan said the search operation remains extremely difficult because of steep mountain slopes, unstable snow, harsh weather and the constant threat of further avalanches. These conditions continue to slow rescue efforts and increase risks for search teams. Rescuers have also been using drone technology to scan the mountain. During the operation, drone footage reportedly identified signs of additional climbers at an altitude of around 6,000 metres. Ground teams are attempting to reach the location despite dangerous terrain and difficult weather conditions. The international rescue effort has also received support from renowned Nepali climber Mingma David Sherpa, who travelled to Pakistan to assist in the search for Nirmal Purja and the other missing climbers. Authorities said the expedition team was last in contact on Thursday morning before communication was lost. Data from the climbers’ tracking devices later suggested that several members of the team had been swept hundreds of metres down the mountainside by the avalanche.

Pakistan stands with Nepal after broad peak avalan…

Pakistan has expressed solidarity with Nepal following the tragic avalanche on Broad Peak in the Karakoram mountain range, where members of an international mountaineering expedition were caught in a deadly snow slide. Prime Minister’s Adviser on Inter-Provincial Coordination, Senator Rana Sanaullah, said Pakistan shares the grief of the Nepalese people and remains committed to supporting rescue efforts. According to Rana Sanaullah, the avalanche struck a team of 10 international climbers attempting to scale Broad Peak. The expedition included six climbers from Nepal, along with mountaineers from Pakistan, the United States, China, and Oman. He said the Government of Pakistan immediately prioritized search and rescue operations after the incident. So far, the bodies of four climbers have been recovered, including Nepalese mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung. Rescue teams continue to search for the remaining missing climbers despite difficult terrain and severe weather conditions. Rana Sanaullah stated that the Pakistan Army and other relevant agencies are carrying out extensive rescue operations using helicopters, drones, and all available resources. He noted that challenging weather and the remote mountainous landscape have made rescue efforts extremely difficult, but authorities remain fully committed to locating the missing climbers. The adviser explained that search teams are utilizing GPS tracking, aerial surveillance, and ground search missions to maximize the chances of finding those still unaccounted for. He emphasized that rescue operations will continue without interruption until every possible effort has been exhausted. Expressing condolences to the families of the victims, Rana Sanaullah said Nepalese climbers, along with other international mountaineers, are highly respected in Pakistan for their contributions to global mountaineering. He added that Pakistan values its long-standing friendship with Nepal and stands with the families affected by the tragedy during this difficult time. He further reaffirmed that the government will continue to deploy all available resources until the search mission is completed. Pakistan, he said, remains committed to assisting the international climbing community and ensuring that every effort is made to locate the missing members of the expedition. The Broad Peak avalanche has once again highlighted the dangers of high-altitude mountaineering in the Karakoram, where unpredictable weather, avalanches, and challenging terrain continue to pose significant risks even to experienced climbers. Authorities have pledged to maintain rescue operations while closely monitoring weather conditions to ensure the safety of rescue personnel.

Three reasons Haroon is winning hearts in Aik Mohabbat Aur

Haroon Malik has emerged as one of the most admired characters in Aik Mohabbat Aur because of his thoughtful personality and balanced approach to relationships. Rather than being portrayed as a flawless hero, Haroon is shown as an ordinary man who makes mistakes, learns from them, and grows through his experiences. His realistic nature has made him relatable to viewers, and several of his actions have highlighted positive values that are often missing in television dramas. A genuine bond with Pari One of Haroon’s most heartwarming qualities is the relationship he shares with Pari. Instead of trying to immediately take on the role of a father figure, he focuses on becoming someone she can trust and enjoy spending time with. He treats her with kindness, patience, and respect, allowing their connection to develop naturally. Haroon listens to Pari, joins in her playful moments, and makes her feel valued without expecting anything in return. Their relationship is built on friendship, understanding, and trust rather than obligation. This gentle approach allows Pari to accept him on her own terms, making their bond feel authentic and emotionally touching. Standing up for Maham Another defining moment for Haroon is the way he handles Maham’s difficult situation. While others choose to ignore her emotional struggles or dismiss them as private family matters, Haroon recognizes that she deserves to be heard. Instead of blindly supporting his brother, Faris, he acknowledges Maham’s pain and encourages the family to confront the real issues. Haroon also challenges his parents to understand that providing financial security alone does not excuse harmful behavior. He emphasizes that emotional well-being is equally important and that remaining silent in the face of abuse only allows the problem to continue. His willingness to hold both his brother and family accountable demonstrates maturity, fairness, and compassion. Respecting Khushbakht’s emotions Haroon’s relationship with Khushbakht Naaz is another reason audiences appreciate his character. Although he develops strong feelings for her, he never pressures her to return his affection immediately. Instead, he patiently gives her the time and space she needs to process her emotions. Even after their marriage, Haroon expresses his care through thoughtful actions rather than dramatic declarations. He values small moments of happiness and understands that love cannot be forced. His calm and respectful approach helps Khushbakht gradually become comfortable with him, especially after the emotional challenges she has experienced in the past. Rather than demanding love, Haroon chooses to earn trust through consistency, patience, and genuine kindness. This refreshing portrayal of romance has resonated with many viewers, setting him apart from more traditional television heroes. As Aik Mohabbat Aur continues, Haroon’s character proves that strength can be found in empathy, respect, and emotional intelligence. His relationships with Pari, Maham, and Khushbakht showcase a man who values understanding over control and compassion over pride. These qualities not only make him an engaging character but also reflect the evolving storytelling seen in modern Pakistani dramas. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Farooq Rind, Aik Mohabbat Aur features a talented cast including Ahad Raza Mir, Maya Ali, Samiya Mumtaz, Noorul Hasan, Munazza Arif, Saqib Sameer, Omair Rana, Hajra Yamin, Sachal Afzal, Fajar Sheikh, Qudsia Ali, Shamyl Khan, Abbas Ashraf, Rehan Sheikh, Dodi Khan, and several other notable actors.
