Thai Cyber Police Dismantle Major Concert Ticket Scam Syndicate, Arresting Seven

BANGKOK, Thailand — Thai authorities have successfully dismantled a sophisticated online fraud network that defrauded nearly 1,000 concertgoers out of more than 3.7 million baht, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects across multiple provinces. The crackdown was executed through a coordinated effort between the Anti Cyber Scam Center (ACSC) and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).

Thailand Consumers Council Sues Meta, LINE, And Apple Over Online Investment Scams

The arrests took place on Wednesday following a series of targeted raids conducted in Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, and Phuket. Law enforcement officials apprehended the alleged mastermind of the operation, alongside several accomplices who served as mule account holders and cash withdrawers. The syndicate was specifically designed to exploit the high demand for live entertainment, preying on fans desperate to attend sold-out concerts and major music festivals.

Investigators revealed that the criminal network operated primarily through the social media platform X. The scammers utilized high-follower accounts to project an image of legitimacy, advertising altered and watermarked images of genuine electronic tickets. To further deceive potential victims and build a false sense of security, the syndicate employed doctored identification cards that matched the details of the mule bank accounts used to receive the fraudulent payments.

Once the victims transferred the funds for the non-existent tickets, the syndicate immediately initiated a rapid money-laundering process. The stolen money was quickly routed through a complex web of multiple bank accounts before being swiftly withdrawn as physical cash by the designated mules, making the financial trail difficult to trace.

During the execution of the search warrants, police seized significant physical and digital evidence, including 10 bank books, four mobile phones, and a vehicle. A comprehensive digital forensic review of the confiscated devices uncovered a massive operational footprint. Investigators linked over 350 X accounts to the syndicate, which were directly tied to at least 739 confirmed fraud cases. Given the scale of the digital infrastructure and the widespread nature of the advertisements, authorities believe the actual number of victims is significantly higher and are urging additional victims to come forward.

The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Thai law enforcement to combat the rising tide of cybercrime and online fraud, which has increasingly targeted consumers in the entertainment and ticketing sectors. The ACSC and CIB have reiterated their commitment to aggressively pursuing transnational and domestic cyber syndicates, emphasizing that digital platforms will not be allowed to serve as safe havens for criminal exploitation.

Six Nigerian Men Arrested In Nonthaburi For Alleged Ai-powered Romance Scams

The seven suspects have been taken into custody and will face formal charges related to public fraud, computer crime offenses, and money laundering. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to trace the remaining illicit funds and identify any additional networks or accomplices involved in the ticketing scam.

Trump vows heavy strikes on Iran’s Pickaxe M…

President Donald Trump said Monday that US forces will hit the Pickaxe Mountain area, located near Iran’s already heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, very heavily in the near future. Trump had threatened the site last week, saying the United States was going to take out Pickaxe Mountain, a heavily fortified location tied to Iran’s nuclear program that contains two deeply buried tunnel complexes. He also said Tuesday that Tehran wanted to meet desperately, adding that Washington has no interest until Iran shows readiness to engage in a meaningful way. Facing mounting political pressure at home over rising gasoline prices since the war began, and with Iran having effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, Trump defended the latest strikes as a response to the deaths of American service members killed in recent Iranian attacks. He wrote on social media Monday that Iran will pay many times over every time it kills an American soldier, saying he had passed the directive to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Daniel Caine and every military leader. The broader conflict has killed thousands of civilians, most of them in Iran and Lebanon, where Israeli forces have occupied part of the country following attacks by Hezbollah fighters who said they acted in solidarity with Tehran. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met Trump at the White House Tuesday, thanking him for what he called a historic achievement in signing a Lebanon Israel framework agreement. Aoun said he had looked forward to the visit for a long time and that the region is due for stability and security. Trump said he would speak with Hezbollah if Aoun wanted him to, noting he has already communicated with the group through intermediaries in June and secured a pledge that it would not attack Israel, a first for any US president given Hezbollah’s designation as a terrorist organization. Trump also addressed threats from Yemen’s Houthi movement to block Red Sea shipping, saying the United States would take care of business if the group follows through on a naval blockade. Two oil tankers carrying Saudi crude toward Asia reversed course in the Red Sea Tuesday after Houthi threats, diverting toward the Suez Canal, though Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea port of Yanbu continued operating normally. The Houthis said Monday they were imposing an immediate maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia, citing what they called an unjust and oppressive siege imposed on Yemen for nearly 12 years. The Saudi led coalition in Yemen said it would respond with force and began protective measures for ships transiting the Bab el Mandeb Strait, a critical route for Saudi oil exports following the effective closure of Hormuz. Yemen’s defence minister said separately that the government’s army stood ready to end what he called the Houthi coup, while clashes between government forces and Houthi fighters have resumed in parts of the country. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said two oil tankers exploded after attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz via an unsafe route, a claim that followed a similar Sunday statement describing an accident involving two vessels in the same area, though it remains unclear whether the incidents were connected. A separate vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile off Oman’s coast near the strait, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency. Inside Iran, explosions were reported in Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr and Bandar Imam Khomeini, with one person killed and several wounded southwest of Tabriz, state media reported. Iran’s Guards said they targeted US aircraft at Jordan’s Aqaba airport with ballistic missiles, along with military assets at Kuwait’s Al Adiri camp and Ali Al Salem Air Base, and additional positions in Syria. Air raid sirens sounded repeatedly in Bahrain throughout Monday, and Kuwait’s army said early Tuesday that its air defenses had again intercepted Iranian drones. Kuwait also said Iran struck its power and desalination infrastructure for a fourth consecutive day, sparking fires at several critical facilities that authorities have since extinguished while damage assessments and repairs continue. The United Arab Emirates condemned Iranian strikes on Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and pledged full solidarity with the three nations. A separate vessel was struck by an unknown projectile off the UAE coast near Dibba, damaging its steering gear, though all crew members remained safe. Iranian state media quoted a military source as saying the Strait of Hormuz will stay closed as long as US strikes continue, with the source describing the waterway as fully under Iranian military control. Iran’s Guards also claimed a strike on central data infrastructure belonging to Amazon in Bahrain, a claim that could not be independently verified. Amid the widening conflict, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations called Tuesday for maximum restraint and an immediate halt to hostilities between Washington and Tehran, warning that continued fighting undermines mediation efforts and diminishes prospects for a peaceful resolution. A senior Iranian official said Tehran had received a proposal from mediators for a ten day ceasefire aimed at salvaging the interim agreement reached in June, though no further details were provided. Pakistani officials said Iran’s interior minister had asked Islamabad to resume its mediation role, and he later traveled to Pakistan for additional talks, continuing a diplomatic effort that Pakistan and Qatar have led since the earlier memorandum of understanding was signed. Separately, Britain’s new government faces pressure from Washington to maintain American access to strategic military bases including RAF Fairford and the Diego Garcia base on Chagos Island, according to a British newspaper report, with Trump said to be pressing new Prime Minister Andy Burnham on the issue shortly after Burnham took office this week.

Andrew Garfield heaps praise on Tom Holland’s Sp…

Andrew Garfield has made it clear that there is nothing but admiration between the actors who have worn Spider-Man’s famous red-and-blue suit. The Amazing Spider-Man star recently opened up about Tom Holland’s portrayal of the beloved Marvel superhero, describing him as an “incredible actor” and expressing genuine excitement for Holland’s continued success as Peter Parker. Speaking during a promotional appearance for his latest film, Garfield was asked about Holland’s time as Spider-Man. Rather than comparing their performances, the Oscar-nominated actor focused on praising his successor, saying, “I love him,” while applauding Holland’s talent and dedication to the role. Garfield also said he is looking forward to seeing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest installment in Holland’s Marvel journey.  Garfield portrayed Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel before passing the torch to Holland, who officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016. Although each actor has brought a different interpretation to the web-slinging hero, Garfield believes the character is in safe hands. Calling Holland an “incredible actor,” Garfield praised the emotional depth and energy he brings to Spider-Man. His comments reflect the respect that has long existed between the two stars, both on and off screen.  The pair famously shared the screen alongside Tobey Maguire in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, a film that united three generations of Spider-Man for the first time. Garfield previously described the experience as one of the most joyful moments of his career, saying it felt like celebrating the character’s enduring legacy rather than competing over it. During his latest interview, he joked that while he was simply enjoying the ride, Holland had the difficult task of carrying the film’s emotional weight.  Garfield’s supportive remarks come as excitement builds around Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which marks Holland’s latest outing as the iconic superhero. Fans have also continued to speculate about whether Garfield could one day return to the Marvel universe, though the actor has remained playful and noncommittal whenever asked about future appearances.  For Spider-Man fans, Garfield’s latest comments are another reminder that there is no rivalry between the actors behind the mask. Instead, there is mutual respect and appreciation for the responsibility of portraying one of the world’s most beloved superheroes. As Holland continues to lead the franchise, Garfield says he will be cheering him on—proof that once you’re part of the Spider-Man family, the bond never really disappears.

He said lawyers were expected to cooperate with the court and maintain a respectful environment during proceedings. The judge observed that lawyers in Islamabad did not provide the level of assistance that he expected. He said the behaviour he had witnessed was painful and disappointing. Justice Soomro also referred to his background. He said he belonged to a village where people did not behave in such a manner. Cabinet clears Rs1.8bn bureaucrats’ allowanc…

The federal cabinet has approved a new Rs1.8 billion special allowance for senior bureaucrats despite continuing austerity measures and limiting the salary increase for government employees to 7% in the 2026-27 federal budget. The decision was taken during the cabinet meeting that approved the federal budget in June. The new benefit is the second special allowance granted to top civil servants in the past four years. It comes at a time when the government is urging public institutions to reduce spending and maintain fiscal discipline. The newly approved incentive has been named the All Pakistan Services Provincial Governments’ Cadre Posts’ Parity Allowance. It will be effective from July 1, 2026. The approved allocation of Rs1.8 billion indicates that the allowance could be close to 100% of an officer’s basic salary, although the government has yet to announce the final rate and eligibility criteria. Officials have not publicly explained why the allowance was introduced or whether any formal study was conducted before approving it. Government departments also did not clarify the exact structure of the benefit. According to officials familiar with the matter, the allowance is intended to reduce differences in salaries and benefits between officers serving in the federal government and those working in provincial governments. Authorities believe many senior officers prefer provincial postings because they receive better financial incentives and additional privileges. The government also wants to encourage members of the Pakistan Administrative Service and the Police Service of Pakistan to continue serving in federal institutions by offering competitive compensation. However, the decision has drawn criticism from observers who argue that the move increases inequality within the public sector. While senior bureaucrats continue to receive additional financial benefits, the majority of government employees have received only a modest salary increase despite rising inflation and increasing living costs. Analysts believe the decision could encourage other civil service groups to demand similar allowances, putting additional pressure on the government’s finances and complicating future pay reforms. The cabinet also approved a major revision to the 150% executive allowance introduced in 2022. Instead of calculating the allowance on the 2017 basic pay scale, it will now be based on officers’ current basic salary as of June 30, 2026. This change will substantially increase payments for officers serving in grades 17 to 22 across key federal institutions. At the same meeting, the government extended austerity measures for another fiscal year. The restrictions include a ban on purchasing new vehicles and non-essential equipment, creating new posts, unnecessary foreign visits, and other non-priority expenditures. Government meetings and official events will continue to follow a simple catering policy.
