A warning to every insubordinate leader of any country.

Already on January 3, 2026, during a press conference he gave regarding the military operation and arrest of Maduro, US President Donald Trump issued threats against Colombian President Gustavo Petro, stating the following: “He would do well to be careful.”

At the same time, the US president hinted that Cuba could be a topic of discussion within the context of broader US policy in the region, highlighting Washington’s ability to expand its focus beyond Venezuela.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio even said that the Cuban government should be worried after Maduro’s arrest. Specifically, he said: “If I lived in Havana and was member of the government, at least I would be worried,” adding that “Cuba is a disaster” and that the country is “run by incompetent and depraved men.”

The history of the United States, moreover, is characterized by extensive imperialist interventions, both territorial and interventionist in other countries. Specifically, there have been approximately 400 interventions since 1776, when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, declaring the independence of the 13 American Colonies from the British Empire, an event that marked the official founding of the United States of America.

Who can forget that from April 15 to 19, 1961, 1,400 anti-Fidel Castro fighters, trained and financed by the CIA, attempted to land at the Bay of Pigs, 250 kilometers from Havana, but failed to overthrow the Cuban communist regime. These battles resulted in the deaths of about a hundred people on each side.
“With Salvador Allende winning the elections of September 4, 1970 in Chile and already Fidel Castro in Cuba, we will have a Red sandwich in Latin America that will inevitably become all Red,” Richard Nixon feared, and his fear was soon confirmed by the election results.

So, in the face of this unpleasant reality for the United States, a solution had to be found. And the solution was found on that morning of September 11, 1973, when a military coup took place under the head of the army, General Augusto Pinochet, with the support of the United States, but also of Brazil, whose military regime was completely friendly and cooperative with the United States. The coup plotters, after first surrounding and bombing the Presidential Palace, then stormed it. Salvador Allende and his close associates were killed, after fierce resistance.

The United States also invaded Panama in mid-December 1989 during the presidency of George W. Bush. The purpose of the military invasion was to oust Panama’s de facto leader, General Manuel Noriega, who was accused by American authorities of extortion and drug trafficking.

So, if one is looking for a historical parallel where the US arrested a de facto leader of a country and transferred him to the US for trial, the Noriega case is the most characteristic. And this happened after a regular military invasion, that is, in the context of a coordinated armed intervention, and certainly not a “normal” peace.

Noriega managed to escape and took refuge in the Vatican embassy in Panama City, the country’s capital, where he remained for 11 days. There, he was subjected to relentless psychological warfare in order to surrender. The US military set up a horrible , deafening wall of sound outside the embassy. A fleet of Humvees with loudspeakers constantly played hard rock and occasionally heavy metal music. For example, “Panama” by the heavy metal singers Van Halen was played.

The Holy See rightly complained to President Bush, and the musical war ended after three days. By January 3, 1990, the general had agreed to surrender.
But what are the deeper reasons for the US military invasion of Venezuela and the pursuit of overthrowing the insubordinate existing regime?

Venezuela, therefore, has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, amounting to approximately 303.8 billion barrels as of 2021. For comparison, leading oil producing countries have smaller reserves. Specifically, Saudi Arabia has approximately 267 billion barrels and Kuwait has 101.5 billion barrels.

At the same time, the country’s proven natural gas reserves exceeded 5.6 trillion cubic meters in 2021. It should be noted, at the same time, that in the Western Hemisphere, only the United States had more reserves.

Also, Venezuela’s total iron ore reserves are estimated at 4.5 billion tons. And here it should be emphasized regarding iron reserves that the country is second in the region after Brazil. Venezuela finally has some of the largest reserves of bauxite in the world, a mineral used to produce aluminum. The country’s total bauxite reserves amount to 950 million tons.

It is, therefore, clear to any objective observer that the US covets Venezuela’s wealth-producing resources. Resources that they cannot get their hands on with the existing regime, which is a political and military partner and ally of Moscow, Beijing and Tehran, but also the main supplier of oil to China, whose control is drying up the flow.

The solution therefore for them, for the US, in order to secure primacy in the relentless international competition is the overthrow of the existing Venezuelan regime and the emergence of a president and a government that is absolutely friendly and serviceable. The rest, that is, whether such a thing is legal and democratic, does not concern them at all.

In closing, I would like to emphasize that the leaders of any country are overthrown only by their people, that is, by popular uprisings and revolutions, as has happened in various countries in the past. They are not overthrown by the military intervention of another country, a foreign power. Therefore, the US military invasion of Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president, Nicolas Maduro, are absolutely condemnable for any democratic and free-thinking citizen of the world.

In her application, she highlighted what she described as a lack of professional respect in the emergency department, political interference and inappropriate conduct by some junior doctors. She said these issues had caused her severe mental stress and made it difficult to continue working under the prevailing conditions. The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh has backed Dr Sanobar and urged the JPMC administration to address the dispute immediately. YDA Sindh Chairman Dr Mehboob Noonari said Dr Sanobar is the hospital’s only FCPS assistant professor in emergency medicine. He noted that she also serves as faculty for the FCPS programme and supervises trainee doctors. Dr Noonari warned that her departure could seriously disrupt emergency medicine training at JPMC and may even put the FCPS programme at risk of closure. He also alleged that the administration was pressuring Dr Sanobar to protect the doctor who was in charge of the night shift when the incident occurred. He questioned why the night-shift in-charge was being shielded and demanded that hospital authorities clarify the matter. The YDA chairman further claimed that senior doctors had questioned Dr Sanobar over her decision to issue an explanation regarding the patient’s death, raising concerns about the handling of the case within the hospital.

The company said the new model performs close to Fable 5 across many tasks despite the lower cost. Cost has become a major issue after Anthropic and its rival OpenAI both filed for stock market listings in June. Wall Street is scrutinising their business performance more closely than ever ahead of their market debuts. The release of Opus 5 is a strategic move by Anthropic to address the growing demand for affordable AI solutions while maintaining high performance. On cybersecurity, Anthropic said it deliberately avoided training Opus 5 on cyber tasks, and that the model remains behind Mythos 5  its most capable and most tightly restricted system, available only to select partners  on both offensive cyber work and biological research capabilities that could be misused. Mythos is Anthropic’s most advanced series of AI models, and its strength at finding weaknesses in computer systems has caused controversy, pushing the company to build tight guardrails around them. The company said Opus 5 finds software flaws about as well as Mythos 5 but lags far behind in turning those flaws into something that could be weaponised into an attack. Citing the reduced risk, Anthropic said its automated safety filters will intervene roughly 85% less often on Opus 5 than on Fable 5, the Mythos-class model it released last month. Fable 5 and Mythos 5 were briefly pulled from public access in June after the US Commerce Department imposed export controls, which were lifted at the end of that month. The release of Claude Opus 5 marks a significant milestone for Anthropic as it seeks to compete in the rapidly evolving AI market. By offering a high-performance model at a lower cost, the company aims to attract a broader range of customers, including businesses and developers who may have been priced out of the market.     Madaris back Army, reject Fazlur remarks

    The Muttahida Madaris Council Pakistan has publicly distanced itself from recent remarks made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the Pakistan Army and the country’s martyrs. In an official statement, the council said religious seminaries across Pakistan have always stood with the country’s armed forces and fully respect the sacrifices made by military personnel in defending the nation. It stressed that no seminary or religious educational institution supports any narrative that could be interpreted as being against the armed forces. The council reaffirmed its commitment to national unity and expressed solidarity with Pakistan’s security institutions. It also paid tribute to the country’s martyrs, saying their sacrifices for national security and peace deserve the highest respect. The controversy began after Fazlur Rehman addressed a public gathering in Kasur, where he spoke about the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. During his speech, his comments about soldiers and martyrdom sparked widespread criticism from political leaders and members of the public. Several politicians described the remarks as inappropriate and called on the JUI-F chief to publicly clarify or withdraw his statement. They maintained that the sacrifices of soldiers should not become part of political debate and should always be treated with respect. Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan strongly criticised the remarks and urged Fazlur Rehman to issue a public apology. He also proposed the formation of a Senate committee to examine the issue and determine whether the veteran politician should be formally called to explain his comments. A sessions court has issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding the registration of a cybercrime case linked to the controversial remarks. The controversy has continued to dominate political discussions, with leaders from different parties expressing contrasting views over the issue.     DERA ISMAIL KHAN, July 26: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has revealed that more than 1,300 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the recent attack on a security checkpost in Tank. The governor made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Regional Police Office in Dera Ismail Khan. He had attended a security briefing on the law and order situation in the region. Kundi described the attack on the Manji Khel checkpoint as a major and tragic security incident. He said 15 people, including 14 security personnel, lost their lives in the attack. Personnel from the Pakistan Army, police and Forest Department were among those who were martyred, he said. The governor said the huge quantity of explosives used in the attack reflected the seriousness and scale of the militant threat facing the province. He called for a united national strategy to counter terrorism. He said the federal and provincial governments, security forces and the public must work together to defeat militant groups. Kundi said Pakistan was facing security challenges from both internal and external sources. He praised the sacrifices made by security forces to protect the country and its people. The governor also alleged that terrorist groups were using Afghan territory to carry out attacks against Pakistan. He further claimed that weapons left behind in Afghanistan by international forces were being used in attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Kundi said neither the people nor the security forces would be intimidated by such attacks. He praised the courage of injured personnel whom he met during his visit. He said the recommendations presented by regional police officials would be conveyed to the federal government. He also said he would raise the issue of improving compensation and support packages for injured security personnel with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the provincial government. The governor stressed that supporting the families of martyred and injured personnel was a collective responsibility. He assured them that the government would continue to support them. Kundi also called for stronger coordination between the federal and provincial governments. He said Islamabad and Peshawar must work closely to tackle the growing security threat. He urged authorities to expand intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said he would discuss the matter with the provincial chief minister. According to the military’s media wing, militants had attempted to breach the perimeter of the joint police checkpost in Tank. Security forces responded quickly and killed 12 attackers. The attackers also drove an explosives-filled vehicle into the checkpoint’s perimeter wall. The resulting blast caused extensive damage to the infrastructure. The Tank attack comes as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to face a persistent threat from militant violence. In another recent operation in South Waziristan, security forces foiled a suicide attack and killed four terrorists, including the would-be suicide bomber. Kundi said restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding areas remained a national priority. He praised police personnel for continuing to perform their duties despite difficult security conditions.
