Wheat, flour prices surge in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The prices of wheat and flour have witnessed a fresh increase in Hyderabad, putting additional pressure on household budgets and raising concerns among consumers already struggling with rising food costs.

According to market sources, flour is currently being sold at prices ranging between Rs135 and Rs145 per kilogram in different parts of the city. The increase has triggered concern among citizens, particularly low- and middle-income families, who rely on flour as a staple food item.

Flour mill owners said the price of a 10-kilogram flour bag has risen from Rs1,350 to Rs1,450, marking an increase of Rs100. They attributed the latest rise primarily to higher wheat prices in the open market.

The price of wheat has also recorded a significant increase. According to grain market traders, the price of a 100-kilogram wheat sack has climbed from Rs10,800 to Rs11,800, reflecting an increase of around Rs1,000.

Traders said fluctuations in wheat prices in the open market were directly affecting flour prices, leaving millers with little option but to revise their rates.

Citizens have expressed frustration over the continued increase in the prices of essential food items. They urged the authorities to monitor wheat and flour markets and take effective measures to prevent unnecessary price hikes.

Consumers also called for stronger market oversight and action against profiteering so that essential food commodities remain available at affordable prices.

Insider reveals where Ethan Slater stands with ex-…

Actor Ethan Slater is not rekindling his relationship with ex-wife Lilly Jay following his recent split from singer Ariana Grande, despite growing speculation online. New reports have dismissed rumors suggesting the former couple could reunite, with a source close to Jay insisting there is no romantic reconciliation taking place.  Speculation began after news broke that Grande and Slater had quietly ended their relationship after nearly three years together. According to sources, the breakup was mutual and amicable, with both stars choosing to remain friends while focusing on their personal and professional lives.  Following the split, social media users questioned whether Slater might reconnect with Lilly Jay, his former wife and the mother of his child. However, a source close to Jay has firmly denied those claims. TMZ reported that the former spouses are “absolutely not” getting back together, adding that reports suggesting Slater is trying to win her back are simply untrue.  The insider also noted that while Ethan and Lilly continue to co-parent their son, their relationship remains focused on parenting rather than romance. They are said to be committed to raising their child in a healthy environment, but there are no plans to revive their marriage.  Slater and Jay’s relationship attracted significant public attention in 2023 after news of his romance with Grande surfaced during the production of Wicked. At the time, both Slater and Grande faced intense media scrutiny. Slater and Jay later finalized their divorce, and both have since moved forward with their separate lives.  Meanwhile, Grande has also reportedly begun a new chapter following the breakup. Recent reports suggest she has reconnected with former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, although neither has publicly commented in detail on the status of their relationship.  Despite the online rumors, those close to Lilly Jay say she has no interest in revisiting the past. Instead, her priority remains her family and maintaining stability for her son. Likewise, Slater is reportedly focused on his career and fatherhood rather than attempting to rebuild his previous marriage.  For now, the latest reports make one thing clear: while Ethan Slater and Lilly Jay continue to share the responsibility of co-parenting, there is no romantic reunion on the horizon. As public interest in their personal lives continues, sources close to the family hope to put the speculation to rest by emphasizing that both have moved on and are concentrating on the next chapter of their lives.

Greek police fast-track toxicology tests in probe …

Greek investigators say they are prioritizing toxicology testing in hopes of determining within days how a Scottish woman died after her body was discovered inside a suitcase in Athens. Elisabeth-Jane Ross, 38, was found in an abandoned building in the Kypseli district of the Greek capital on July 18, reportedly by a homeless man who came across the body. Known to family as Lisa, she is believed to have traveled to Greece from Edinburgh in late June and was reported missing on July 15. Greek authorities are also working to locate American friends of Lisa’s who they say were staying in the same Kypseli area at the time she disappeared. Police have not yet determined whether her death is being treated as a homicide. A post mortem examination is currently underway, and investigators say toxicology results could help establish whether foul play was involved in her death. Such tests typically take anywhere from several weeks to a few months to complete, depending on case complexity and the workload of forensic laboratories. However, police spokesperson Konstantina Dimoglidou told a Scottish broadcaster on Saturday that authorities have made the case a priority and expect results within days, saying investigators need answers on how she died without further delay. According to police accounts, Lisa initially stayed in the Keratsini area, located roughly six miles west of central Athens, with Greek friends. She told them that on July 15 she planned to travel to Kypseli to meet American friends or acquaintances. Investigators are now trying to identify those individuals. Officials also noted that her mobile phone continued transmitting a signal and sending messages for several days after her death is believed to have occurred. The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed Wednesday that it is providing consular support to Lisa’s family and remains in contact with Greek authorities. Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney described the case as absolutely appalling and said the Scottish government and the FCDO would continue supporting her family. Police Scotland said it is also providing assistance to the family as the investigation continues.
