“There is a really really good chance that I painted the door jams on that car! I worked at the St. Thomas assembly plant in St. Thomas Ontario Canada from 1980 to 2011. Every time I see one of these it brings back really good memories. And trust me these things were built Ford tough. all the door jams on the early cars like this one we’re all painted my hand. “As we all know, cars are a huge bridge in bringing people together. I first met this car in a garage at Sonoma Raceway attracted by its rad stance. Ventured into the garage with my 11yo and the owner says “go ahead, take a closer look, get in it!” A small conversation later and come to find out he is neighbors with a good friend of mine. We hve been good friends ever since.
The owner is an accomplished racer himself, past NASA endurance race champion. This car was built with a racers…”

“My father was in the Army from 1939 until 1969 when he retired as a Colonel. He was active duty thru WWII and then in the reserve until he retired. He drove a split window VW like this to his reserve meetings and drills. I once asked him why the VW? He said it was reliable and got great gas mileage. Having been raised during the depression he was very frugal. This auction brings many fond memories. GLWTA.”

“Fun memories of seeing this bike in Rob’s shop. We used to do a “garage tour” on British bikes in San Diego. Rob would bring us into his crazy workshop which included a land speed record “bike” built around a Delta jet turbine engine. He loved this Rudge. These have high quality engineering for their time and currently have decent parts availability through UK owner’s club. Thanks for bringing to BaT!”

“My grandfather bought one of these new back in the day and got a surprise when he picked it up after its first scheduled service at the dealership. The service writer put “Aspen” on the repair order, so my grandfather asked him to correct it. Confused, the service guy walked over to his car and pointed at the “Aspen” badge on the side of the car. They walked around to the drivers side and were greeted by a “Volare” badge! “Lovely car! Had a Crown 327/350 while in college in NJ in early 70’s; ran 12.22 at Raceway Park, much faster than most muscle cars. Had Greenbriar 3.89 gears. Yep, finally blew the rear end. Ran smallish rear tires to limit traction. would take a friend out for a drive w/o the back cover in – most not accustomed to red hot headers and the noise a solid lifter V-8 makes. LOL. 50+ years later now drive a R8 – sort of similar but with massaging leather seats!! GLWTA!!”

In fact there is an online forum dedicated specifically to the Honda Ridgeline (https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/).
My personal belief is that they are so robust and long lived because they utilize proven engines, transmissions (mostly), AWD design, and even body engineering.
They’re not mechanically high strung, cutting edge, uber fashionable vehicles.
You’re getting solid engineering and time-proven design.
Just the kind of vehicle you can picture…”
