    “Just a quick note from many years of experience with the various GTO continuation cars from Terry Hoyle and Rod Jolley.
    Absolutely no one executed better examples ever. They were freakishly correct even down to the most minor details.
    At various times, I had access to both original Series One, 250GTOs and 64 GTOs as well as having a Terry Hoyle copy in the showroom. They were indistinguishable from each other and would fool even the best experts if they did not see the chassis…”

    I parked the ‘B in the expansive and empty red-brick portico and got out. Walked in through the giant wooden front doors that looked like they weighed a ton each but opened easily with just a tug, shutting themselves behind me with a gentle thunk. The smell inside the place was more of a scent—faint whiffs of cinnamon mixed with pine and roses. Orchestral music wafted softly throughout the foyer, itself a grand affair with vaulted ceilings and ornately carved Gothic woodwork and thick indigo-blue carpet. No one was manning the receptionist’s station, but a silver bell was resting on the front counter, so I gave it a ding, and that’s when I met Penny.

    A Look at the Harlan Schoneweis Collection, from john2323

    BaT seller @john2323 brings us this collection of mostly pre-war American vehicles, with one post-war outlier, each of which features an engine with its cylinders in a single tidy row. These automobiles were acquired by the seller’s late father over the years, with some of the earliest cars purchased in the 2010s; the Buick sedan and Chevrolet pickup, however, boast family histories stretching back to the mid-20th century. Many will be offered with no reserve!

    “As the 3rd owner of this wonderful car I can tell you it was my pride and joy from roughly 2009-2014. All records and receipts from Esoteric and San Antonio Texas were mine. Car was a later production VIN so had a couple unique and relatively rare options … Rosso scuderia brake calipers … only available in the later production run as many cars had Rosso corsa calipers even though the exterior was spec’d in Rosso scuderia … one of those details that ‘if you know you notice’

    “For those who are about to restore one of these models some advice. One of the most frustrating part of the restoration was obtaining the right size rubber souround for the door opennings. Tried twice from a well known UK supplier and they both failed. Found a Cicogna made part at a German supplier which finally worked.”

    WINNER’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

    We’re back to announce the winner for our Question of the Week, where our victor will accept a $25 credit for a hat or T-shirt from the BaT Gear Store and the acclaim of their peers.

    Our question this week: What’s a great car that would’ve been better with AWD?

    We read through the 100-plus comment thread, where many of you made the case for some great cars. This week we’re choosing the comment that most stood out to us (Editorial Privilege!) and awarding the prize to BaT member @StudebakersandSaabs, who nominated the Volkswagen Corrado SLC:

    “The Volkswagen Corrado, especially the SLC, would have been improved with AWD.
    Virtually all the parts existed in VW parts bin to do it, it’d be a mashup of Rallye Golf and Syncro Passat to complete the driveline, but everything did exist to make that a reality.
    It’s not a COMMON swap, but a few Syncro Corrados have been made by enthusiasts over the years, and it’s a pretty OE-looking conversion.”

    “Great looking e28 that has been dialed in the way all e28s should be dialed in, starting with euro bumpers and properly lowered suspension. 👏
    You’d be hard pressed to find better wheels for an e28 than the 16″ BBS RX wheels.
    The crack free dash is also a bonus, as is the top end motor refresh just a few thousand miles ago.
    The Recaros alone are worth between two and five thousand dollars in case someone wanted to replace them with e28 sport seats.
    Refurbished A/C and the new heater core…”
