“Jimmy Don Ventura had owned enough unusual automobiles over the years to believe he understood the public. He’d driven a lime-green AMC Gremlin, a Triumph Spitfire that leaked oil with the determination of an East Texas mosquito, and a Plymouth Barracuda that had once stranded him in front of the Dairy Twin during the lunch rush. Every one of them had attracted comments, questions, and unsolicited mechanical advice from complete strangers.
    Then he bought Fred.
    Officially, it was a 1949…”

“This is the real deal; with a fabulous history. This Ace-Bristol would be an amazing vehicle to take to vintage sports car races, rallies, and/or classic sports car shows. It will attract attention and be a lot of fun.
I am familiar with this seller; you can trust you are getting something very special.

I stumbled upon the VHS in a bargain bin in the mid-’90s, but it’s all over YouTube now.

“@RTCH having worked at David Hobbs Honda in 2000, when they debuted in the US. Apparently, at least for the initial wave or first year, dealerships had the option having all their S2000s fully equipped with aero accessories or non of them equipped. Not sure how long that lasted, but Hobbs had all the initial S2000s equipped. When the first ones arrived at the dealership everything came to a halt, all employees came outside to gawk while David and Greg inspected and tested them for about 30…”

Dad made me take the 1st in a 2wd, straight six, three on the tree suburban with no power steering. 2nd in a 2wd , 302 v8 IH Scout with the stiff lurchy clutch that gave you the Jimmy leg. Neither one worked well for a skinny 16 year old. 3rd didn’t leave the DMV because I “didn’t adjust the mirrors” , after…”

“I ordered one of these, a British Racing Green unit in NYC and put $25 down on it. It was priced at $6641.00. I didn’t inherit any money when I turned 21 like I told the dealer I might and had to release it to sell to someone else. It did show up on the showroom floor and that was the last time I saw it. I later converted the front of my MGA to look like a cobra… and then changed it back when I made it my first race car… This was in 1965.”

The E model has smaller numbers, but probably is the best driving street machine out of all the early cars. 1972 model to boot! For a little background, this car was purchased brand new by an airline 747 captain living in Tiburon, CA. Years later I find myself working for that same airline. “I must commend the team at Revology on an absolute triumph of packaging. It is one thing to shoehorn a Gen 3 Coyote into an early-model engine bay, but the way this has been engineered is incredibly clean. You actually left plenty of room to work on the car, and the plumbing is pure art. It takes a truly discerning eye to differentiate this from a factory-spec 1968 Fastback until you pop the hood.
The juxtaposition of eras is beautifully executed. Catching the modern Ford door-ajar chime in…”

“I am the previous of this car and I knew the engineer that built the car. The builder was a very talented engineer and sadly he passed away. I knew the car and I bought it from his estate. The car is a blast to drive and I will miss it. The only reason I have for selling it is that I am getting old and I still have a bucket list of cars that I would like to own before it is too late. I am sure that the new owner of this car will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.”

These were produced from 3/62 through 2/8/63. The factory built an initial run of 229 numbered alloy block engines, all in 1962, 19 of which were “spares” I owned a number of this variety of 300SL RO’s including this one from ’89-’98. Took us 24 hours! After a few years the drivers floor pan rusted through. A sheet of 3/8 plywood cut to size fixed that. It was no longer the Fred Flintstone mobile! Also had a problem with the horn button. Every time we would turn the wheel to take a corner the horn would honk. NO PROBLEM! We would wave at…”
