Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor reveal what The En…

Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor are stepping into an unusual cinematic adventure with The End of Oak Street, a new film that combines family drama, mystery and prehistoric thrills. While the movie places its characters in an extraordinary situation, the story also explores themes of family, adaptability and finding strength when life suddenly changes.

The film, directed by David Robert Mitchell, stars Hathaway and McGregor as parents living with their family in a quiet 1980s suburban neighborhood. Their ordinary lives take an unexpected turn when a mysterious event transports their community into a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and other ancient creatures. (Variety)

Learning to adapt

One of the strongest ideas surrounding The End of Oak Street is the importance of adapting to circumstances that are completely outside anyone’s control.

Hathaway and McGregor’s characters are forced to leave behind the comfort and familiarity of their everyday lives. Suddenly, the skills they would normally rely on are no longer enough. They must work together, make difficult decisions and protect their family while trying to understand what has happened.

That unusual premise gives the film an emotional foundation beneath its large-scale adventure. The story is not simply about dinosaurs or survival. It also places a family under extraordinary pressure and asks how people respond when everything familiar disappears.

Family at the center

Although the film promises plenty of spectacle, the family relationship remains an important part of the story. Hathaway plays a mother who begins questioning her life before the mysterious transformation changes everything around her.

McGregor plays her husband, and their characters must navigate their complicated circumstances while attempting to keep their family together. Their journey gives the film a more personal dimension, allowing the adventure to explore questions about relationships, responsibility and change.

The film has been compared to a blend of Spielberg-style wonder and Jurassic Park-level thrills, while remaining an original story. (World of Reel)

A new kind of challenge

For Hathaway and McGregor, The End of Oak Street represents a departure from more conventional family dramas. The production required them to work within a world where the impossible becomes reality.

The movie is scheduled to arrive in UK cinemas on August 14, 2026. With its combination of mystery, family dynamics and prehistoric adventure, it could offer audiences more than a traditional creature-feature experience. (London Post)

Ultimately, The End of Oak Street suggests that even when life takes an unexpected turn, staying connected, thinking creatively and protecting the people who matter can make all the difference.

Panettiere died on Sunday, August 16, at the age of 36, according to her father, Skip Panettiere. She was just days away from celebrating her 37th birthday. Her family has not disclosed an official cause of death and has requested privacy as they cope with the loss. Shortly before her death, Panettiere discussed her experiences as a mother in an interview with parenting outlet Momé magazine. Panettiere shares Kaya, who is now 11, with her former fiancé, Ukrainian boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko. The actress previously spoke about experiencing a traumatic birth and struggling with postpartum depression after welcoming her daughter. Those challenges had a lasting impact on her life and contributed to a period when she was unable to be with Kaya as much as she wanted. NewJeans’ fourth anniversary comeback sparks fan concern

K-pop girl group NewJeans celebrated their fourth debut anniversary by releasing new promotional content, raising speculation about a possible four-member comeback after nearly two years away from the music scene. At midnight on July 22 (KST), the group unveiled a series of summer-themed videos and photos under the title “2026 Summer of NewJeans.” The newly released content featured Hanni, Haerin, Minji and Hyein, marking the group’s first official update together in a long time. The release also confirmed Minji’s return to group activities following months of uncertainty. However, Danielle was absent from the anniversary content after officially leaving the agency at the end of 2025. The cheerful summer concept has led many fans to believe that NewJeans may finally be preparing for a long-awaited musical comeback. Although no official announcement about a new album or single has been made, the timing of the promotional campaign has fuelled excitement across social media. Despite the anticipation surrounding the group’s return, the new photos and videos also sparked mixed reactions among fans. While many welcomed seeing the members together again, others expressed concern over their appearance and questioned whether the group was genuinely happy. Several fans claimed that the members looked unhappy in the promotional images, with some describing the content as rushed and lacking the group’s usual energy. Social media users shared comments suggesting the members appeared exhausted, while others said the videos did not reflect the bright and lively image NewJeans had been known for since their debut. The group’s activities have remained uncertain since the highly publicised legal dispute involving their agency, ADOR, and its former CEO Min Hee-jin. The conflict dominated headlines throughout 2025 and significantly affected NewJeans’ career, forcing the members to pause group promotions for an extended period. A major legal development came when a Seoul court ruled that the members’ exclusive contracts with ADOR remained legally valid. Following the ruling, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein gradually resumed activities with the agency, while discussions regarding Minji’s future also progressed positively before her eventual return. Danielle, however, officially ended her contract with the company and continues to face an ongoing legal dispute related to damages claimed by the agency. Soon after NewJeans released their anniversary content, Danielle shared a new post on Instagram that quickly attracted widespread attention. Alongside a selfie, she wrote an uplifting message about hope, resilience and staying grateful even during difficult times. Fans also noticed that Danielle was wearing a cap with the word “REVENGE” printed across it. The detail immediately sparked speculation online, with many wondering whether the choice of clothing carried a hidden message related to her former agency or the ongoing legal battle. However, Danielle has not commented on the meaning behind the cap, and there is no confirmation that it was intended as a reference to the dispute. As NewJeans celebrate four years since their debut, fans remain divided between excitement over the possibility of new music and concern about the challenges the members have faced. Until an official comeback announcement is made, speculation surrounding the group’s future is likely to continue.

PML-N secures AJK majority, says Sanaullah

Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured a simple majority in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly after winning 13 of the 20 seats contested in the first two phases of the elections. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, Sanaullah said the election process had so far been completed on 20 constituencies. He said polling was first held on 13 seats and later conducted on seven more seats during the second phase. According to Sanaullah, the PML-N won 13 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured seven seats. He added that the PML-N also emerged victorious on 10 of the 12 refugee seats, taking the party’s total strength in the 45-member AJK Legislative Assembly to 23 seats. He said the party now has the required numbers to form a simple majority government in Azad Kashmir. Sanaullah congratulated PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, party workers and all successful candidates on what he described as a major electoral success. The adviser said the victory reflected the confidence of the people of Azad Kashmir in the policies and leadership of the PML-N. He added that the new government would focus on fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign and would work for the development, prosperity and welfare of the region. Sanaullah rejected allegations of election rigging made by the Pakistan Peoples Party. He maintained that the elections were conducted in a peaceful, transparent and credible manner under the supervision of the Election Commission and relevant state institutions. He alleged that some opposition leaders started questioning the election results only after realising they were losing in several constituencies. He urged political parties to respect the democratic process and avoid making accusations without presenting evidence. Referring to incidents reported during polling, Sanaullah claimed that attempts were made in some areas to create unrest and discourage voter turnout. However, he said the administration, police and security agencies effectively handled the situation and ensured that polling continued smoothly. He also expressed confidence that the PML-N would perform strongly in the remaining phase of the elections. He said the party expects to win more seats when polling is held on the remaining constituencies, further strengthening its position in the legislative assembly. Meanwhile, Federal Minister Amir Muqam described the election outcome as a victory for democracy and the people of Azad Kashmir. He said voters actively participated in the electoral process despite concerns raised before polling and demonstrated their trust in the democratic system. Muqam praised the Election Commission, civil administration, police and security institutions for ensuring peaceful and orderly polling across the region. He said the successful completion of the first two phases reflected effective coordination among all institutions involved in the election process. The minister said the PML-N’s campaign was based on public service, development and good governance. He added that the party leadership remained fully engaged throughout the campaign, while workers reached out to voters across Azad Kashmir to present the party’s vision and manifesto.

Mitchell Starc six-for destroys Bangladesh for just 64

MACKAY: Bangladesh’s batting collapsed spectacularly against Australia on Saturday, folding for just 64 runs in the first innings of the second Test as Mitchell Starc produced a devastating spell of fast bowling. Playing at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision quickly paid off as Bangladesh’s batters struggled to cope with the pace and movement generated by the Australian attack. Starc was the chief destroyer, claiming six wickets for just 12 runs from 10 overs. His relentless spell left Bangladesh’s batting order in tatters and gave Australia complete control of the opening stages of the match. Captain Pat Cummins provided strong support, taking three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood claimed the remaining wicket as Australia’s pace trio ripped through the visitors. Bangladesh’s innings offered little resistance. No specialist batter managed to produce a substantial score, with No. 11 batter Shoriful Islam emerging as the team’s leading scorer with 14 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam each contributed 11, but the lower order could not prevent Bangladesh from being bowled out for one of their lowest Test totals. The collapse is a dramatic turnaround from the opening match of the series. Bangladesh stunned Australia in the first Test in Darwin, securing a historic nine-wicket victory — their first Test win over Australia on Australian soil. That result had given Bangladesh enormous confidence and put the hosts under early pressure in the series. However, Starc and Australia’s fast bowlers ensured that the second Test began on an entirely different note. For Bangladesh, the immediate challenge is to recover from the huge first-innings setback and find a way to contain Australia’s batting. For the hosts, meanwhile, the emphatic bowling performance offers a chance to level the series after their unexpected defeat in Darwin. Starc’s six-wicket haul has already become the defining moment of the match, with Australia firmly on top after Bangladesh’s dramatic batting collapse.
