Millie Bobby Brown slams unfair scrutiny faced by ‘Stranger Things’ girls

Millie Bobby Brown is speaking candidly about the intense pressure she faced growing up on “Stranger Things.” Despite the show’s massive success, she says the experience was not equal for everyone in the cast.

The actress shared her thoughts during an appearance on the “On Purpose” podcast with Jay Shetty. She opened up about a clear gender divide she noticed throughout her years on the series.

Brown explained that she grew up on a show alongside four boys, and she is not dismissing their experiences either. She acknowledged they faced their own share of challenges throughout the years.

However, she said the scrutiny placed on her and her female co-stars was on another level entirely. According to Brown, the pressure and judgment aimed at the girls felt genuinely intense compared to what the boys dealt with.

She pointed out a stark contrast in how media coverage treated each gender differently. Brown said she never once saw headlines scrutinising her male co-stars’ outfits, hairstyles or makeup choices on the red carpet.

Instead, she said those same headlines focused entirely on the boys’ talent and success. Brown made clear she is not against that kind of praise, noting the boys absolutely deserve recognition for their work.

Her frustration, she explained, comes from not receiving that same treatment herself. Brown said she deserves to be written about for her accomplishments too, not torn down over her appearance.

She admitted the double standard genuinely frustrates her, even now. Brown said she feels a strong sense of protectiveness toward younger girls entering the entertainment industry today.

She stressed that intense scrutiny over appearance should not automatically become part of a young actress’s story. According to Brown, that narrative is something the industry chooses to create, not something that has to exist.

Her comments add to a broader, ongoing conversation about the different expectations placed on young actresses compared to their male peers. Brown’s remarks reflect a growing awareness among former child stars about the lasting effects of early fame and public scrutiny.

Three suspects arrested in the murder case of young doctor Akash were killed during a police operation in Karachi after an alleged exchange of fire between law enforcement officials and criminal suspects. According to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), the incident took place in Umar Brohi Goth area of Gulshan-e-Maymar. Police officials said the arrested suspects had provided information about their escaped accomplices, following which a raid was carried out to arrest the remaining members of the group. During the operation, the alleged criminals opened fire on police teams. Officials said a police officer was also injured in the firing. The SIU claimed that the three suspects already arrested in connection with Dr Akash’s murder were killed after being hit by bullets fired by their own accomplices during the clash. The case relates to a robbery incident in Karachi’s Clifton area on July 13. Dr Akash was killed when armed suspects opened fire outside a bank during a cash-snatching attempt. Police said the suspects had targeted people carrying large amounts of cash. During the incident, the criminals allegedly took away Rs25 million from a total amount of Rs50 million withdrawn from the bank. Investigators later found that the suspects arrested in the case were allegedly involved in other criminal activities, including robberies outside banks and attacks on traders in Karachi. The police investigation also revealed the possible involvement of an unidentified woman in the robbery case. Officials said further investigation was being carried out to determine her role and identify other members of the criminal network. Authorities said efforts are continuing to trace the remaining suspects linked to the gang. A medical report submitted to the Supreme Court has revealed that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan is experiencing severe anxiety symptoms. The report was submitted by the superintendent of Adiala Jail. It contains details about Imran Khan’s physical and mental health. The report was submitted after PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja approached the Supreme Court. His petition raised concerns about Imran Khan’s health and restrictions on meetings with him. According to the report, Imran Khan’s anxiety was recorded at “Level 3+”. The condition has been described as severe. A medical board examined Imran Khan on August 10, 2026. The board included specialists in eye diseases, cardiology and general medicine. The report states that Imran Khan is around 73 years old. His blood pressure was recorded at 140/80. His pulse was 54 beats per minute. His ECG was found to be normal. His chest was also clear. Doctors found his heart valves and chambers to be normal. The report says Imran Khan complained of heaviness in his head. He also reported feeling that his heartbeat was faster than usual. However, he did not report chest pain. He also did not complain of chest heaviness or shortness of breath. The medical board recommended medicines to control his blood pressure and anxiety. Doctors also recommended regular physical activity. The board suggested that Imran Khan should walk for one hour every day. It also recommended activities that could provide mental relaxation. The report recommends that he should be provided with magazines, newspapers, television and books. These activities could help reduce mental stress during his imprisonment. The medical board also recommended increasing the duration of meetings with Imran Khan’s family and wife. According to the report, greater family interaction could help control his anxiety and blood pressure. The recommendations come amid repeated demands from PTI leaders for greater access to the former prime minister. Jail authorities said Imran Khan receives regular medical attention. Medical officers reportedly check his food intake and conduct medical examinations three times a day. The report also states that several government doctors have examined him during his imprisonment. Records of these medical examinations have reportedly been maintained. The former prime minister has also received treatment from an eye specialist. According to the jail authorities, one of his eyes has now recovered to an almost normal condition. The report includes a summary of medical examinations conducted by 39 different specialists between November 4, 2023, and August 10, 2026. The jail authorities have asked the Supreme Court to dispose of the petition. They maintain that Imran Khan is receiving regular medical care inside the prison. The report also discusses the issue of meetings with Imran Khan. Jail authorities claimed that some meetings had been used to generate public sentiment against the judiciary, foreign policy and law enforcement institutions. According to the report, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi meet every Tuesday under jail rules. A total of 84 meetings between them have reportedly taken place so far. The document also states that Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar met him on February 10 and April 4, 2026. The medical report comes amid renewed political pressure over Imran Khan’s health and access to his family and personal doctors. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi recently announced a protest programme if Imran Khan was not allowed access to his family and personal physicians. The issue of Imran Khan’s health has become a major point of political debate. PTI leaders have repeatedly demanded better medical facilities and greater access to his personal doctors. A psychiatrist cited in the report said that “Level 3+” anxiety indicates a severe state of anxiety and distress. The psychiatrist explained that prolonged isolation and limited social interaction can worsen anxiety. Such conditions may also contribute to hopelessness and depression. He said regular interaction with other people can help reduce anxiety. He also recommended walking and exercise as useful measures for managing symptoms of anxiety and panic. The three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed will hear the petition. Justice Naeem Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim are also part of the bench. The court will examine the medical report and the concerns raised over Imran Khan’s health, medical treatment and access to family members and doctors.

    Destructive earthquake hits Western Colombia

An omnipotent earthquake hit western Colombia in the early morning hours, leaving destruction, multiple fatalities and dozens of collapsed structures across several municipalities. Emergency responders and local residents are rushing  to pull survivors from beneath piles of heavy rubble. In the heart of the country’s coffee-growing region, Pereira Mayor Mauricio Salazar confirmed that 18 residents lost their lives due to the tragic event. Salazar stated, “The situation is critical.” He addressed Caracol Radio regarding the growing casualty toll and structural collapse. Reports from neighboring municipalities highlighted the widespread reach of the disaster. In nearby Manizales, Mayor Jorge Eduardo Rojas reported three fatalities resulting from the shaking. Along Colombia’s Pacific coastline, the key port city of Buenaventura also suffered casualties. Mayor Ligia del Carmen Cordoba confirmed one death after a building caved in, trapping several individuals inside. Cali, one of the nation’s largest urban centers, was among the hardest hit. The municipal authorities have yet to confirm official death tolls there, though. Mayor Alejandro Eder informed Caracol Radio that at least 30 buildings had completely collapsed. The collapse happened even with rescue crews actively operating at 10 high-priority sites across the city. Speaking earlier to Blu Radio, Mayor Eder detailed the urgency of the ongoing efforts: At this point, two people have already been rescued alive, one elderly woman and one young girl. There are more people trapped, he explained, emphasizing the scale of the emergency. He noted further, We have at least 12 critical points and 25 collapsed structures that we are responding to. In order to handle the overwhelming strain on local resources, the city requested emergency disaster support from authorities in Bogota and Medellin. Cali resident Juan Carlos Osorio described the immediate aftermath while sifting through wreckage: The building completely collapsed. It sounded like a bomb. It was horrible, Osorio told Caracol Television. He added, All of us neighbors are working together, forming human chains. We need heavy equipment. There are many people trapped. The immense intensity of the tremor shook neighboring nations including Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela. However, Colombian officials confirmed that there was no threat of a tsunami. In the capital city of Bogota, the morning quake caused widespread alarm. They’re prompting frightened residents to run into the streets in their pajamas as emergency sirens echoed. Bogota Mayor Carlos Galan reassured the public via Blu Radio that damage within the capital appeared relatively minor, consisting primarily of cracked building facades. Elsewhere, news footage revealed severe structural damage, including multi-story buildings with their outer walls completely sheared off. In Choco province, the governor posted on X that multiple injuries and severe structural damage occurred in the departmental capital of Quibdo. News outlets broadcast images of destruction across cities in the coffee-growing region, known locally as Eje Cafetero. 66-year-old Eje Cafetero resident Martha Estrada told reporters, “There is no electricity or cell phone coverage. It was strong, really strong. Things fell in my house,” recounting the blackout and sudden movement inside her home. Cali’s mayor, Alejandro Eder, re-emphasized that the city was managing major damage and noted that officials were deploying drones to assess structural integrity across neighborhoods. He reiterated that at least 20 buildings had collapsed with individuals trapped inside, driving the urgent appeal for specialized rescue reinforcement from Bogota and Medellin. Residents in Bogota also recalled the intensity of the event, with 29-year-old content creator Valeria Polo remarking, The quake was very, very strong. To safeguard air travel, Colombia’s civil aeronautics agency announced on X that six regional airports temporarily suspended operations. The affected terminals serve Pereira, Manizales, Quibdo, Armenia, Cartago, and Buenaventura, allowing inspection crews to verify runway and building safety. Geographically, Colombia experiences frequent seismic activity because it is situated across three ranges of the Andean mountains. Historically, however, landslides have proven to be the country’s most lethal natural hazards, such as the 1985 Armero disaster that claimed approximately 25,000 lives. Major earthquakes have also left dark marks on the region; in 1999, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the coffee region, resulting in over 1,000 fatalities in Armenia and Pereira. De La Espriella, a right-wing politician who has not previously held elected office, released a video filmed aboard a flight to Bogota following the disaster. He announced that he was suspending his scheduled activities to personally oversee emergency coordination efforts from the national capital.   This natural disaster follows severe regional seismic activity earlier in the summer, when twin earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela on June 24, leaving over 6,000 dead and causing catastrophic damage along the coast near Caracas.
