Alongside the photos, Kim reflected on how the past week had revealed even more about the woman she admired so deeply.

“Happy Heavenly 92nd Birthday grandma! It’s only been a week, but wow, the amount of things I’ve learned about you this week from going through all of your stuff with mom has been beautiful,” Kim wrote. She added that discovering more about MJ’s life had only deepened her admiration and love for her grandmother. “I miss you like crazy and I love you endlessly, my sweet grandma MJ.” 

MJ, the mother of Kris Jenner, passed away at the age of 91 and was widely regarded as the heart of the Kardashian-Jenner family. She often appeared on the family’s reality shows, where her warm personality, humor, and close relationship with her grandchildren made her a fan favorite. Her influence extended far beyond television, as she inspired generations of her family through her work ethic, kindness, and unwavering support. 

Kim has previously described MJ as her “best friend,” “gossip buddy,” and “forever twin.” In an earlier tribute following her grandmother’s death, she recalled receiving her very first job at MJ’s children’s boutique in San Diego, where she learned valuable lessons about business, confidence, and determination.     The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started the delimitation process for holding local government elections in Islamabad. The commission said the formal process will begin on August 1, 2026, and will continue until October 13, 2026. The delimitation of constituencies is a major step before announcing the election schedule. An ECP spokesperson said that after the completion of the delimitation process and publication of the final constituencies, the commission will consult the federal government regarding the date for Islamabad’s local government elections. The spokesperson also shared updates about local government elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Punjab, delimitation authorities have been directed to submit their decisions to the relevant committees by August 7. The final delimitation list for the province will be published on August 17. The ECP said it is fully prepared to conduct local government elections in Punjab after completing all necessary legal requirements and consultations. Regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the commission said delimitation has been completed in 23 districts, while work is continuing in seven more districts. The spokesperson said the ECP held discussions with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary and local government secretary on July 14 about the election schedule. Provincial authorities were given additional time after requesting support for completing arrangements. The commission said recent amendments to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act created legal issues that affected the delimitation process. The ECP informed the provincial government about these concerns and sought cooperation to resolve the matter. The spokesperson said the commission has faced delays in local government elections because federal and provincial governments often change local government laws close to election dates. He said the ECP has repeatedly completed delimitation exercises and prepared election schedules, but changes in legal frameworks affect the process. The commission recommended that major changes to local government laws and boundaries should be completed at least one year before elections. It said this would help ensure a smooth and timely electoral process.

    Iraq demands proof over Saudi attack claims

    BAGHDAD: Iraq has rejected allegations that its territory was used to launch attacks against Saudi Arabia and has called for evidence to support the claims. A spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces said no country or organisation had presented proof that attacks on Saudi Arabia originated from Iraqi soil. The spokesperson said Iraq remained committed to protecting its sovereignty and preventing its territory from being used to threaten neighbouring countries. He added that the government was implementing measures to strengthen national security and maintain full control over the country’s borders and military activities. The statement came after reports linked Iraq to attacks on Saudi Arabia, increasing tensions in an already volatile region. Following recent US and Saudi military strikes inside Iraq, the Iraqi National Security Council convened an emergency meeting to assess the security situation. During the meeting, the council condemned the attacks and described them as a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. Officials stressed that all hostile actions carried out on Iraqi territory were unacceptable. The council said the Iraqi government alone has the authority to decide how to respond to any attacks launched from within the country. It warned against any unilateral military action that could further destabilise the region. The office of Iraqi Prime Minister also issued a statement reaffirming Baghdad’s policy of keeping Iraq out of regional conflicts. The statement said the government would continue to pursue diplomatic and legal measures to protect the country’s sovereignty, security and political stability. The latest developments follow joint US and Saudi air strikes targeting locations believed to be used by Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The strikes were reportedly carried out in response to drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities. According to the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), the attacks targeted its headquarters and facilities across seven Iraqi provinces. The group said at least 20 of its personnel were killed, while another 32 were injured in the air strikes. It added that the heaviest attack took place in Nineveh province, where 10 fighters lost their lives. The military action has further raised concerns about growing instability in the region and the possibility of wider confrontation involving regional and international powers.

    JAKARTA: At least 38 people have died after a powerful magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia on Saturday, sending residents fleeing from homes, damaging buildings and triggering a brief tsunami warning, officials said. The shallow offshore earthquake was followed by dozens of aftershocks, complicating rescue efforts across East Nusa Tenggara province. Authorities said tsunami waves measuring less than one metre were recorded in several areas before the warning was lifted about three hours after the main tremor. Suharyanto, head of Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), said 38 people had died, while two were seriously injured and 11 suffered minor injuries. About 2,000 residents were evacuated to safer areas as authorities assessed the damage. Maumere, the main town in Sikka Regency on Flores Island, was among the worst-hit locations. Rescue officials reported finding 20 bodies there, while several people were injured and others remained trapped beneath collapsed structures. The disaster also struck Nagekeo, the area closest to the earthquake’s epicentre. Rescue teams faced major difficulties reaching the region because landslides blocked roads and communication signals were disrupted. Authorities said around 2,000 residents in Nagekeo had moved to safer locations, while houses, warehouses and government facilities were damaged. Officials said power outages and traffic congestion were reported in parts of the affected region. In some locations, residents rushed outdoors as buildings shook violently. Hospitals also moved patients outside as a precaution against further tremors. A resident of Talibura described the shaking as extremely powerful, saying her family ran from their home after the earthquake struck. Her account reflected the panic felt across communities as the ground continued to shake. The Indonesian geophysics agency said the initial earthquake occurred at a depth of about 15 kilometres and was followed by multiple aftershocks. Rescue workers are continuing to search damaged buildings and isolated communities for survivors. Officials said emergency crews were using boats and other routes where roads remained blocked by landslides and debris. Indonesia is particularly vulnerable to earthquakes because it lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a highly active seismic zone where tectonic plates meet. The region has suffered devastating earthquakes before, including a magnitude-7.5 quake in 1992 that caused extensive destruction. Authorities warned that the situation remains fluid as rescue teams work to reach isolated areas, determine the full scale of damage and provide assistance to displaced residents. The death toll could rise as search operations continue.
