PTI to refile contempt petition today

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said the party will refile its contempt of court petition before the Supreme Court today and seek the formation of a bench at the earliest so that the matter can be heard within the next two days.

Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar said he met the court registrar at the Facilitation Centre regarding the petition. He said the registrar’s office had raised objections to the application, prompting the party to withdraw it and submit a revised petition.

According to Barrister Gohar, the petition concerns alleged violations of court orders, including issues related to meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan. He said the individuals allegedly responsible for contempt had not been provided with a list of the allegations, which was among the concerns raised during the filing process.

He said PTI had approached the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing and would now address the objections before submitting the petition again. “We will file the contempt petition again today,” he said, adding that the party wanted the bench constituted today so the case could be taken up the day after tomorrow.

Barrister Gohar also stressed the importance of Imran Khan’s health, saying that ensuring his family members can meet him is essential. He referred to the Supreme Court’s previous directions regarding meetings with the PTI founder and urged authorities to comply with the court’s orders.

He pointed out that today was scheduled as a meeting day and appealed to the authorities to allow the meetings to take place without disruption. He said the party had already fulfilled its commitment regarding the previous meeting and that no information or discussion from that meeting had subsequently emerged.

The PTI chairman reiterated that the party wanted the matter resolved through the legal process and expected the relevant authorities to follow the Supreme Court’s directions. He said the party would continue pursuing the issue before the court until its concerns regarding the implementation of the orders were addressed.

She remembered her brother as funny, witty and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. She also described him as someone with a huge heart and reflected on the unique bond between siblings. Melissa wrote about the pain of losing someone who had been part of her life from the beginning. Her tribute included photographs of Ryan and the siblings throughout the years.  Jessica Castro has also reacted to the news. She said she had not been in contact with Ryan for years and therefore did not know about his life in recent times. Despite their complicated history, she expressed her condolences to his family and wished him peace.  Ryan’s death has prompted viewers to remember his time on Married at First Sight and the dramatic relationship that made his season particularly memorable. While he largely stayed away from the spotlight after the show, his sudden passing has brought attention back to his reality television career. For now, Ryan’s family has chosen not to release additional details about his death. As they grieve his loss, fans and former MAFS viewers have been sharing condolences for his loved ones.

    Monsoon rains, floods disrupt life across Pakistan

    Monsoon rains and flooding have disrupted daily life in several parts of the country, with rising water levels and overflowing streams causing damage and cutting off road links. In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain in Chilas and surrounding areas has caused streams and waterways to swell, raising concerns about further disruption. The Astore Valley Road has remained closed for the past six days, creating shortages of essential food and other supplies in affected areas. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in parts of Sindh and southern Punjab today. Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as further rainfall could worsen the flooding situation.

    Authorities have removed Medico-Legal Officer Dr Osama from his post following an inquiry into serious shortcomings in the initial post-mortem examination of businessman Mir Raza Ali. Officials said the doctor has been directed to appear before the relevant authorities as part of an inquiry into the alleged procedural lapses. The action comes after questions were raised over the accuracy and completeness of the initial medico-legal examination. The case came under renewed scrutiny after a dispute emerged between police investigators and the Karachi police surgeon over shortcomings in the original medico-legal report. The family subsequently approached a Karachi court, seeking a fresh examination of the body. The court later permitted the exhumation of Mir Raza Ali. A second autopsy conducted after the exhumation reportedly found evidence indicating that the businessman had sustained a gunshot injury to the back. The new medical examination identified two gunshot holes in his clothing, along with several other injuries. Medical findings also reportedly included marks of violence, injuries to the feet, a fracture and a roughly 12-centimetre injury to the right thigh, as well as a deep injury and fracture around the jaw. A separate chemical examination has also added new dimensions to the investigation. According to the report, particles consistent with acid were detected on the victim’s shirt, while material associated with gunshot residue was also found. The report further indicated that efforts may have been made to conceal the victim’s identity and that fingerprints were not detected on his hands. Family lawyer Jibran Nasir has previously raised questions about the initial investigation, including the absence of an X-ray and the failure to establish the cause of death in the first examination. He has also alleged that acid burns may have damaged the victim’s face. The family has urged investigators to examine CCTV footage, digital records and other forensic evidence. Questions have also been raised over the handling of the victim’s mobile phone, smartwatch and surveillance recordings from locations linked to the case. Investigators are now examining additional evidence and locations connected to the death. Authorities have also moved to obtain the victim’s mobile data records and conduct geofencing around the relevant crime scene. The new probe team is also coordinating with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency to determine whether Mir Raza had received threats before his death. Mir Raza’s family has said it is cooperating with investigators and has provided information about several suspicious individuals and locations. His father, Mir Hussain, has expressed hope that the newly constituted investigation team will establish the facts and take the case to its logical conclusion.
