Anti-US protest greets Rubio at ASEAN Summit

Protesters demonstrated against US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the Philippines, calling for an end to what they described as America’s war against Iran.

According to reports from Manila, the protest took place while Rubio was attending the regional diplomatic gathering. Demonstrators gathered near the venue carrying banners and chanting slogans criticizing US foreign policy and military actions.

The protesters urged the United States to stop its military campaign against Iran and called for peace in the region. They also appealed to the Philippine government not to become involved in any US-led military conflict.

Police set up barricades around the meeting venue and prevented demonstrators from approaching the site where ASEAN foreign ministers were holding discussions. Security remained tight throughout the event, and no major clashes were reported.

The protest coincided with high-level regional meetings attended by foreign ministers from ASEAN member states and dialogue partners, where regional security and international issues were among the key topics of discussion.

Ariana Grande chooses love over fame

Pop star Ariana Grande is reportedly looking forward to taking a break from the spotlight after completing her Eternal Sunshine Tour, with plans to spend more time with family, close friends and her reported partner Ricky Alvarez. According to media reports, Grande’s demanding schedule of concerts, rehearsals and other professional commitments has left little room for her personal life over the past several months. Sources close to the singer say she is eager to enjoy uninterrupted time with the people closest to her once the tour concludes. Grande and Ricky Alvarez previously dated between 2015 and 2016 after he joined her as a backup dancer. Reports suggest the pair have rekindled their relationship following the singer’s split from actor Ethan Slater. The two have recently been seen together on several occasions during breaks in the tour, fuelling speculation that their romance has resumed. Representatives for the singer have also confirmed that Grande intends to step back from public appearances after the tour ends. The decision comes amid growing public discussion about her health and well-being. According to her spokesperson, the singer hopes to finish the tour on a positive note before taking a well-earned break from public-facing work. The statement added that the pause will allow her to focus on her health and enjoy time away from constant public attention. As part of her planned hiatus, Grande has also withdrawn from the upcoming West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George, a production that would have reunited her with Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. The announcement follows the release of her eighth studio album, Petal, which sparked widespread discussion online after some fans expressed concern about her appearance in the music video’s lead single. Grande launched the Eternal Sunshine Tour in June 2026 in Oakland, California, and is scheduled to wrap up the 41-show tour at London’s O2 Arena on September 1 before beginning her extended break.

Kangana Ranaut renews attack on Hrithik Roshan

Kangana Ranaut has once again addressed her long-running feud with Hrithik Roshan after a viral social media trend reignited public discussion about their 2016 controversy. The actress and BJP MP shared a strongly worded message on Instagram, accusing Roshan of encouraging online criticism directed at her and urging him to stop “adding fuel to the fire.” The renewed controversy began after Kangana faced backlash for comments she made about a recent Gen-Z protest in India over alleged corruption in the education system and examination paper leaks. During her remarks, she criticised the protesters, described them as part of a problematic generation and referred to young women as “Generation Gutter,” prompting widespread criticism on social media. As criticism of Kangana intensified, many users revisited her highly publicised dispute with Hrithik Roshan. The discussion quickly evolved into a viral online trend under the slogan: “The World owes Hrithik Roshan an apology.” The trend referred to the actors’ long-running legal and public battle that began in 2016. The dispute originated when Kangana, during an interview, referred to Hrithik as her “silly ex.” Roshan denied that the two had ever been in a relationship, after which both stars exchanged legal notices and accused each other of harassment and defamation. The case ultimately concluded without a definitive legal finding because of insufficient evidence, although public opinion remained sharply divided. As the latest trend gathered momentum, Hrithik responded by commenting on an Instagram post shared by influencer Freddy Birdy. Rather than embracing the online campaign, the actor urged people to avoid taking sides without considering the full context. He wrote: “My friend, siding with ‘A’ just cause you don’t like ‘B’ anymore is a small part of the larger systemic issue plaguing our society. I’ll wait, for when the context to it is the right one, and motivated by facts. That would be fair. But then again, who cares anymore right?” Kangana later responded through her Instagram Stories, directly addressing Roshan and urging him not to encourage those attacking her online. She wrote: “Dear Hrithik, I am happy that you have found your perfect match, Saba Azad and you both look great together, you are in a committed relationship and it doesn’t suit you to tease a woman like this. Instead, you should condemn all those who are harassing and bullying me using your name.” The actress then added another pointed remark, saying: “Stop adding fuel to fire and embarrassing your partner. Hope better sense prevails and you stop making unreasonable comments.” Her latest statements quickly went viral, generating another wave of reactions across social media. While some users supported her right to respond, many others criticised the actress, arguing that reopening the years-old dispute was unnecessary. The exchange has once again brought one of Bollywood’s most talked-about celebrity feuds back into the spotlight. Although nearly a decade has passed since the original controversy, the latest online trend and subsequent responses from both actors demonstrate that the dispute continues to attract widespread public attention whenever it resurfaces.

‘Stop crying’: Maryam takes aim at Bilawal

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has urged the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to accept its defeat in the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections instead of making allegations of rigging. In a video statement, Maryam responded to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s criticism of the election results. She said the PPP should accept the outcome “with an open heart” and focus on its political responsibilities. Maryam said complaints and accusations would not change the election results. She also advised the PPP to concentrate on governance rather than questioning the electoral process. Her statement came after Bilawal strongly criticised the PML-N and raised questions about the conduct of the AJK elections. Speaking at a workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal questioned whether the situation in AJK could be described as genuine democracy. Bilawal claimed that PPP candidates had received strong public support and suggested that the party’s performance did not reflect the votes and expectations of the people. He also questioned whether political interests were being prioritised over the wider interests of AJK. The remarks triggered a political exchange between the two parties following the completion of polling in the first phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections. According to unofficial and provisional results, the PML-N emerged as the leading party by winning nine of the 13 constituencies contested in the first phase. The PPP secured the remaining four seats across the Mirpur division. The results prompted celebrations among PML-N workers and supporters, while the PPP raised concerns over the electoral process. The first phase covered constituencies in Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber. Voting was held on July 27, with polling time extended by one hour after the scheduled closing time. The electoral contest has intensified political competition between the PML-N and PPP in AJK.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Château Miraval …

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s former French estate, Château Miraval, has reportedly escaped damage despite dangerous wildfires burning in parts of southern France. According to TMZ, smoke was seen rising near the famous winery on Friday as firefighters continued battling fast-moving blazes across the region. While the sight of thick smoke sparked concern among fans, aerial images reportedly showed no visible damage to the historic property. Authorities have continued to monitor the situation as changing weather conditions keep the fire risk high. (tmz.com) Château Miraval, located in the Provence region of southern France, has remained in the spotlight for years because of both its award-winning rosé wine and the ongoing legal dispute between Jolie and Pitt over ownership of the estate. The former couple purchased the property together in 2011 and married there in 2014 before separating two years later. Since then, Miraval has become a central issue in their lengthy legal battle. (apnews.com) The latest concern comes as southern France faces another challenging wildfire season. High temperatures, dry vegetation and strong winds have fueled several fires across the region, prompting emergency responses and temporary evacuations in affected communities. Firefighters have been working around the clock to contain the flames and protect homes, forests and historic landmarks. (reuters.com) Although smoke was visible near Château Miraval, reports indicate that the estate itself has not suffered any confirmed structural damage. Emergency crews have continued monitoring the area to ensure the fire does not spread closer to the property. Officials have also urged residents and visitors to follow safety instructions as weather conditions remain unpredictable. (tmz.com) Beyond the immediate wildfire threat, Miraval continues to attract attention because of the legal fight between Jolie and Pitt. In recent years, the former spouses have exchanged lawsuits over Jolie’s sale of her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group’s wine division, with Pitt arguing that the sale violated an earlier agreement. The dispute remains unresolved and has become one of Hollywood’s most closely watched legal battles. (apnews.com) For now, the focus has shifted from the courtroom to the safety of the estate and surrounding communities. The apparent lack of damage to Château Miraval has come as welcome news, but officials warn that wildfire conditions can change rapidly. As firefighters continue their efforts across southern France, the situation remains fluid. While Miraval appears to have avoided harm, authorities say continued vigilance is essential until the fires are fully contained. The incident serves as another reminder of the growing impact of extreme wildfire seasons across Europe and the importance of protecting both communities and cultural landmarks.

Trump approves landmark US-Saudi nuclear pact

US President Donald Trump has approved a landmark civilian nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia, marking a major step in expanding strategic cooperation between the two countries. The proposed deal is expected to remain in effect for 30 years and is valued at tens of billions of dollars. The agreement is designed to support the development of Saudi Arabia’s civilian nuclear energy program while giving American companies a leading role in building the kingdom’s nuclear infrastructure. It is expected to create significant investment opportunities for US firms and strengthen long-term energy cooperation between Washington and Riyadh. Under the proposed framework, American companies could participate in constructing nuclear facilities across Saudi Arabia. The agreement also allows for the possibility of building a uranium enrichment plant in the kingdom if future joint studies by both governments determine that such a project is necessary. US officials say the deal will enable Washington to remain closely involved in the development of Saudi Arabia’s nuclear program. They believe this cooperation will help ensure that the kingdom’s nuclear activities remain focused on peaceful civilian purposes. The Trump administration is expected to submit the agreement to the US Congress in the coming days. The pact is being introduced under Section 123 of the US Atomic Energy Act of 1954, which provides the legal framework for civilian nuclear cooperation between the United States and foreign countries. Once submitted, Congress will have about 90 days to review the agreement. If lawmakers do not reject it during the review period, the agreement will automatically enter into force. Blocking the deal would require Congress to pass a joint resolution with enough votes to override a possible presidential veto. According to officials familiar with the proposal, the agreement does not include the “Gold Standard,” a condition that permanently bars partner countries from enriching uranium or reprocessing spent nuclear fuel. These activities can potentially be used in the production of nuclear weapons. The proposed agreement also reportedly does not include the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Additional Protocol. This protocol allows international inspectors to conduct broader inspections and monitor undeclared nuclear facilities. Its absence has raised concerns among some non-proliferation experts and lawmakers. US officials, however, insist that the agreement contains strong safeguards required under American law. They stress that the deal does not obligate the United States to transfer sensitive uranium enrichment technology or nuclear fuel cycle capabilities to Saudi Arabia. Instead, it establishes a legal pathway for future civilian cooperation while requiring separate approvals for any advanced technology transfers. The agreement follows earlier discussions between senior US and Saudi officials, who signed a preliminary framework last year to expand cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The proposal has generated debate in Washington. Several Democratic lawmakers, along with some Republicans, have argued that stronger safeguards should be included before the agreement is approved. They believe stricter restrictions are necessary to reduce the risk of nuclear weapons proliferation in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is intended to meet growing energy demands and diversify the country’s energy resources. However, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has previously said that if Iran were to acquire a nuclear weapon, Saudi Arabia would also seek similar capabilities. His remarks have fueled international concerns about a possible regional nuclear arms race.
