SAMUT SAKHON – A construction crane collapsed onto the busy Rama II Road southwest of Bangkok on Thursday morning, killing two people and injuring two others. The accident marks the latest in a series of incidents that have raised serious safety concerns along this critical highway.

Train Collides with Collapsed Crane in Korat, Killing at Least 32

The collapse occurred around 9:15 a.m. on the outbound lanes near the Samut Sakhon Provincial Transport Office, just before the Tha Chin Bridge. The crane, part of an elevated highway construction project, toppled across the central median, crushing at least two vehicles.

Police and rescue teams swiftly cordoned off the area and partially closed the highway to manage the scene and assist victims. Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the structural failure and are reviewing safety measures at the construction site.

Rama II Road is a major artery connecting Bangkok with southern Thailand and has become notorious for repeated construction-related accidents, prompting growing public demand for stricter oversight and enhanced safety protocols.
