Love in Slow Motion is a story about love and its realisation. Haya’s best friend Jawad gets engaged, and that’s when she realises that he is more than just a friend.

Is true love hiding behind the facade of friendship?

Jawad is a film actor. And as he says the dialogue to Haya for practice, Haya is unnerved by the truth of it. It seems love really is travelling in slow motion. It is bit by bit that Haya is realising that Jawad is the one meant for her.

Haya is living in denial. She encourages Jawad to go forward with his newfound relationship with the glamorous actress Zenia. But on the inside, she is broken. She records videos of herself confessing her emotions. That is the only outlet that she has.

And as Haya’s aunt and sister get access to her videos, they decide together with Jawad on a plan to get Haya to understand that Jawad is the one for her.

But what will happen when Haya learns the truth? Will she forgive Jawad? Watch the film to find out.

Love in Slow Motion is a 2026 Netflix film. With a runtime of 1 hour and 31 minutes, it falls into the genre of Arabic and romantic comedy.

Directed by Elie El Samaan, it has been rated at 4.4/10 on IMDB.

Despite the modest rating, it was a film worth watching.

The soundtrack is in Arabic, but it is catchy. Both the lead actors, Haya (Nour Al Ghandour) and Jawad (Ali Kakooli), deliver their roles beautifully. The onscreen chemistry between Haya and Jawad is striking. Both get along well with each other. The chemistry between the two leads shines in the lighter moments, even if some of the film’s more emotional scenes lack the intensity needed to leave a lasting impact.

Visually, the film is polished, featuring stylish costumes, attractive locations, and a vibrant colour palette.

Will Haya accept Jawad at the end, or will she be so heartbroken that she’d want nothing to do with him?

The film is a lighthearted Arabic romcom. It offers fulfilled entertainment that the audience wants in this world of evil and unrest. It helps the audience rewind and relax.

The end is predictable, but despite the audience knowing what will happen next, it still keeps the audience glued to the screen till the very last minute.

In conclusion, the film is a sweet watch that reminds us that love almost always begins with friendship. The film’s message about friendship, timing and the courage to express one’s feelings makes it an enjoyable watch.

Hats off to the entire cast and crew for executing a beautiful film. The film deserves appreciation. Kudos.

    BANGKOK: A 14-year-old boy killed at least eight people, including his grandparents, before taking his own life in a shooting rampage at a school outside Bangkok on Friday, police said, in Thailand’s deadliest mass killing since 2022. The teenager opened fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok, after allegedly shooting his grandparents at their home. Police said the suspect was among those killed at the school. The attack left 15 people injured, with both students and teachers reported among the casualties. Emergency teams rushed to the school as frightened students streamed out of the building, many without shoes, while ambulances transported the wounded. Police said the teenager fired at least 26 rounds and had another 34 rounds of ammunition. Authorities said the weapon belonged to his grandfather. An 18-year-old student told Reuters he initially believed the loud noises were firecrackers or someone striking an object. He said the sounds stopped briefly before gunfire erupted again. Emergency worker Kiatikhun Verapongpradith said his team arrived while the shooting was still underway and treated students suffering injuries. He said teachers were also among those found injured or dead inside the school. The suspect was later found after apparently shooting himself, according to the emergency worker. He was taken to hospital, but authorities confirmed that he died. Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong said both teachers and students were among the casualties, while police identified the teenager as a student.     Europe to witness rare total solar eclipse today

    A total solar eclipse is set to occur today, offering skywatchers across parts of Europe an opportunity to witness a rare astronomical phenomenon, according to Arab media reports. The eclipse is being described as the first total solar eclipse visible from Europe since 1999. The event will be particularly prominent in western Spain and Iceland, where observers will have the chance to see the Moon completely cover the Sun for a brief period. The total phase is expected to begin at around 6:27pm local time in the areas where the eclipse will be visible. Near Iceland, the period of totality is expected to last approximately two minutes and 18 seconds, making it one of the key locations for viewing the phenomenon. However, the eclipse will not be limited to areas experiencing totality. Several major European cities are expected to witness a significant partial eclipse. In Madrid and Barcelona, around 99% of the Sun’s disc will be obscured, while Paris is expected to experience approximately 92% coverage. London will see about 91% of the Sun covered, while Berlin is expected to experience an eclipse of around 85%. The exact appearance and timing of the eclipse will vary depending on the location of observers. Parts of Africa, Canada and the United States are also expected to witness the eclipse in its partial form, although the degree of visibility will differ from one region to another. Eclipse not visible in Pakistan Pakistanis will not be able to observe the solar eclipse, as the astronomical event will take place outside the country’s visible path. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that the eclipse will begin at approximately 8:34pm Pakistan Standard Time. It is expected to reach its maximum phase at around 10:46pm before ending at approximately 12:58am. Since the entire event will occur during nighttime in Pakistan, the eclipse will remain below the horizon and therefore cannot be seen from the country. The Meteorological Department has also indicated that another major astronomical event is expected later this month. A partial lunar eclipse is scheduled for August 28, but this event, too, will not be visible from Pakistan. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and temporarily blocks some or all of the Sun’s light from reaching certain parts of the Earth. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon completely covers the visible disc of the Sun for observers located within the narrow path of totality.

    Dera Ghazi Khan: PMD, World Bank and Ghazi University Join Hands to Strengthen Hill Torrent Monitoring and Disaster Preparedness in Dera Ghazi Khan by establishment of State-of-the-Art Automatic Weather Station. A Major Milestone Towards Strengthening Weather Forecasting, Hill Torrent Monitoring and Community Resilience in Dera Ghazi Khan Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, has taken a significant step towards strengthening weather monitoring, disaster preparedness and climate resilience in the region through the establishment of a state-of-the-art Automatic Weather Station (AWS) under the World Bank-supported Modernization of Hydromet Services of PMD in Pakistan Project (MHSP). The initiative, being implemented by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) with support from the World Bank, aims to modernize Pakistan’s hydrometeorological observation network, enhance forecasting capabilities and improve climate service delivery. The project is expected to play a vital role in strengthening early warning systems and disaster preparedness, particularly in areas vulnerable to extreme weather events and climate-related hazards. The proposed Automatic Weather Station at Ghazi University will provide real-time, high-resolution meteorological data, significantly contributing to weather forecasting and the monitoring of weather conditions associated with hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan. Given the region’s vulnerability to flash floods and hill torrents, the installation represents an important step towards improving early warning capabilities and protecting communities, livelihoods and infrastructure. Under Phase-I of the MHSP, a total of 110 Automatic Weather Stations are being installed across Pakistan, including 25 stations in Punjab. These stations will expand the country’s real-time weather observation network and provide reliable meteorological data to support forecasting, research, disaster risk reduction and climate-resilience planning. A project team recently visited Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, where it held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. During the visit, the team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the proposed site, finalized the location for installation of the Automatic Weather Station, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formally designating Ghazi University as an AWS installation site. The visiting delegation comprised Mr. Hassan Shafiq, Environment & Social Safeguards Consultant, World Bank; Dr. M. Yasir, Hydrology Consultant; Mr. Abdul Aziz, Director, Regional Meteorological Centre Lahore, Pakistan Meteorological Department; and Mr. Sajid Hussain, Meteorologist, PMD. The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Sagheer Atta, Director ORIC, Ghazi University. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad expressed the university’s strong commitment to supporting the initiative and emphasized the importance of establishing an Automatic Weather Station at Ghazi University. He stated that the facility would not only strengthen real-time weather monitoring and forecasting in Dera Ghazi Khan but would also significantly enhance the monitoring and early warning of hill torrents, helping improve disaster preparedness and protect local communities from potential hazards. He described this contribution as an important form of community service, particularly for vulnerable populations in the hill-torrent-prone areas of the region. The station will also create valuable opportunities for research, academic collaboration, student training and practical learning in meteorology, hydrology, climate science and related disciplines.
