The new season of Pakkay Dost is set to premiere on YouTube on August 22. Maqsood shared the announcement on Instagram, expressing excitement about bringing the programme back with more engaging content for children and families.

Maqsood explained that the main idea behind Pakkay Dost is to create healthy and wholesome entertainment in Urdu while making the language feel fun, modern and relevant to children.

The upcoming season will continue using music as a way to teach children about different subjects. The programme will explore topics including Urdu, physical fitness, kindness towards animals, vegetables and the human body.

One of the performances features actor Syra Yousuf, who can be seen dancing to a song about the history of the Urdu language. The performance introduces children to vocabulary influenced by languages such as Arabic and Turkish while making language learning entertaining.

The new educational songs will also teach children about exercise and healthy habits. Other songs will introduce the names of vegetables as well as bones and joints in the human body.

According to Maqsood, Pakkay Dost now has more than 50 songs covering a wide variety of subjects and facts. He has encouraged parents to watch the programme with their children, emphasizing that the show has been created to entertain adults as well as young viewers.

The singer also said that enjoying the music himself is an important part of his creative process. His approach combines catchy songs with educational themes, allowing children to learn without making lessons feel like traditional classroom activities.

With Pakkay Dost Season 4 arriving on YouTube on August 22, Bilal Maqsood is continuing his effort to introduce children to Urdu through music, humour and wholesome entertainment.

The new season is expected to appeal to families looking for educational content that can keep children entertained while helping them learn about language, health, nature and their own bodies.

Since disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia has redirected much of its crude oil exports to its Red Sea port of Yanbu. From there, shipments bound for Europe pass through the Suez Canal, while cargo heading to Asian markets travels south through the Bab el Mandeb Strait. Industry data shows that oil exports from Yanbu have increased sharply over the past year, making the Red Sea an increasingly vital route for global energy markets. Millions of barrels of petroleum now pass through the Bab el Mandeb every day, helping to stabilise international oil supplies despite ongoing tensions elsewhere in the region. Analysts warn that any serious disruption in the Red Sea could significantly affect global energy prices by restricting another major export route from the Gulf. Saudi Arabia is reportedly considering expanding its pipeline network to the Red Sea coast to reduce dependence on vulnerable sea lanes. The Houthis have been involved in conflict with Yemen’s internationally recognised government for more than a decade and have previously launched missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia. Although a truce reached in 2022 reduced fighting, tensions have risen again following recent military strikes around Sanaa. The latest escalation began after Yemen’s recognised government said it had targeted Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing. The Houthis blamed Saudi Arabia for the attack and responded by firing missiles towards Abha airport in southern Saudi Arabia. A senior Houthi official later warned that continued escalation could lead to the closure of the Bab el Mandeb Strait. Although the Houthis maintain that they make their own military decisions, the United States has long accused Iran of supplying the group with weapons, funding and training. The Houthis reject claims that they act as an Iranian proxy. The movement previously disrupted international shipping after the outbreak of the Gaza war in late 2023. It launched attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, saying the operations were intended to support Palestinians. Those attacks forced many major shipping companies to reroute vessels around southern Africa, increasing transport costs and delaying deliveries worldwide. Although Red Sea traffic had begun recovering after attacks eased, shipping through the Suez Canal remains well below previous levels. The latest Houthi threat has renewed fears that instability could once again disrupt one of the world’s busiest trade routes. During the recent conflict involving Iran, the Houthis played a more limited military role than other armed groups aligned with Tehran. However, their latest announcement suggests they may now be prepared to increase pressure on regional rivals, raising fresh concerns over the security of global energy supplies and international trade.

    Justin Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, has suffered another legal setback after a New York court ordered it to pay more than $171,000 in legal fees to The New York Times. The ruling comes after the studio’s defamation lawsuit against the newspaper was dismissed, marking the latest chapter in the long-running legal battle connected to the It Ends With Us controversy.  According to court documents, Justice Gerald Lebovits ordered Wayfarer Studios to pay $171,616.20 to cover a large portion of the newspaper’s attorney fees. The award stems from New York’s anti-SLAPP law, which is designed to protect journalists and media organizations from lawsuits that attempt to silence reporting on matters of public interest.  The dispute began after The New York Times published a December 2024 investigative report examining allegations made by actress Blake Lively regarding the production of It Ends With Us. The article detailed claims of sexual harassment and workplace retaliation and included allegations that a public relations campaign had been used to damage Lively’s reputation after she raised concerns.  In response, Wayfarer Studios filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against the newspaper, arguing that the report relied on misleading information and unfairly portrayed Baldoni and the company. However, the case was dismissed in 2025 after a judge concluded that The New York Times had acted within the protections afforded to journalists reporting on issues of public concern. The court also found that Wayfarer had failed to provide sufficient evidence to support its defamation claims.  After winning the case, The New York Times sought reimbursement for the legal costs it incurred while defending itself. Although the newspaper initially requested more than $181,000 in attorney fees, the judge approved a slightly lower amount of $171,616.20. The court also rejected Wayfarer Studios’ request to delay the payment while pursuing an appeal, noting that a previous settlement had effectively waived that option.  The latest ruling adds to a difficult period for Baldoni and his production company, which have been involved in several high-profile legal disputes connected to It Ends With Us. While many of those matters have now been resolved or settled, the financial consequences continue to unfold.  Neither Justin Baldoni nor Wayfarer Studios had publicly commented on the latest order at the time of publication. Meanwhile, The New York Times welcomed the outcome, maintaining that its reporting was accurate, responsibly sourced and protected under the law.

    US and Iran agree to extend 60-day ceasefire

    ISLAMABAD: The United States and Iran have agreed in principle to extend their 60-day ceasefire, according to a Turkish news agency report citing Pakistani government sources. The report said both Washington and Tehran had informed mediators of their willingness to prolong the truce. The two sides are also exchanging messages to determine the length of the proposed extension, according to the report. The current ceasefire is due to expire on August 17. Mediators have been informed that both countries are prepared to continue the pause in hostilities. According to international media reports, the United States and Iran signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding on June 17. The agreement established a 60-day period for maintaining the ceasefire and completing negotiations aimed at bringing a permanent end to the conflict. The memorandum also included arrangements for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to commercial shipping during the ceasefire. However, disagreements over the interpretation of several provisions have continued to create tensions between Washington and Tehran. Both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the terms or spirit of the understanding. The proposed extension could provide additional time for diplomatic efforts and negotiations aimed at addressing the outstanding issues between the two countries. Mediators are expected to remain engaged as Washington and Tehran work to settle the duration and other details of the extended ceasefire.

    TikToker Ayesha Shamsu’s murder case solved

    Police have claimed to have solved the murder case of TikToker Ayesha Shamsu in Taxila, saying she was allegedly killed by her father, brother and cousin in the name of so-called honour. Rawalpindi SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob said during a press conference that Ayesha Gulamna, also identified as Ayesha Shamsu, was allegedly targeted by her family members because they objected to her activities on TikTok. According to the police official, the suspects were identified with the help of surveillance cameras and other technological tools. Ayesha was shot dead in Taxila on the evening of August 14. Her sister and brother were also wounded when the suspects allegedly opened fire. Police said they have arrested the alleged main suspect and two shooters in connection with the killing. A total of five suspects, including Ayesha’s father, have been taken into custody. The initial investigation suggested that Ayesha’s family disapproved of her presence and activities on social media. Police said the family had previously attempted to stop her from using TikTok, but she continued her online activities. The suspects allegedly decided to kill her after their attempts to prevent her from using the platform failed. SSP Tariq Mehboob said further legal proceedings would be initiated against the suspects and a formal challan would be submitted before the court. Police have vowed to pursue the case and ensure that those responsible for the killing face legal consequences.
