Pattaya Advances Eastern Region Artists Organization Towards Formal Association

PATTAYA, August 10th, 2026

Pattaya City officials and artists from the Eastern region convened Monday to strengthen the structure and operations of the Eastern Region Artists Organization, with the long-term goal of registering it as an official association.

Mr. Wutthisak Roemkitjakarn, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, chaired the meeting at 1:30 p.m. in Meeting Room 242 of Pattaya City Hall. Attendees included Mr. Siwat Boonkerd, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Pattaya City; Mr. Mana Yaparakam, Chairman of the Pattaya City Cultural Council and Chairman of the Pattaya Independent Artists Group; members of the Eastern Region Artists Organization; and representatives from related agencies.

The meeting focused on clarifying the administrative committee structure of the organization (or future association), the appointment of committee members, their roles and responsibilities, and the drafting of regulations. Participants also discussed plans for a launch event and art exhibition. On the question of a permanent office, the meeting proposed the Pattaya City Youth Center. Mr. Siwat noted that the city is developing the site as a “Happiness Creation Center” and “Creative Economy Center,” or Creative Center, making it suitable for artists’ workspaces, exhibitions, and activities.

Deputy Mayor Wutthisak discussed the value of arts and culture, stating that they elevate the human spirit, generate income, and promote tourism. He affirmed that Pattaya City stands ready to provide support within its authority to help drive concrete and sustainable progress in the arts and culture sector.

The Eastern Region Artists Organization was established to promote, support, and disseminate the artistic and cultural works of artists across the region. Its goal is to serve as a hub for knowledge exchange and to integrate cooperation among government, private sector, and community partners. The initiative seeks to advance the creative economy and develop the cultural capital of Chonburi and the broader Eastern region in a sustainable manner.

Organizers envision the group as a gathering place for artists of all disciplines in a region rich in ecological, cultural, and historical diversity. The effort is intended to elevate the arts sector, professionalize artistic practice, and expand commercial and social opportunities, ultimately leading to formal registration as the “Eastern Region Artists Association.”

Key objectives include:
– Promoting artists by creating opportunities to showcase their work to the public, increase income, and expand market channels
– Developing skills through workshops and knowledge-sharing forums among artists of different generations
– Building networks that connect artists with government agencies, the private sector, educational institutions, and art collectors
– Driving the creative economy by adding value to Eastern regional arts and culture and supporting cultural tourism
– Preparing for association status by establishing administrative structures, membership systems, and a revolving fund

Looking ahead, organizers plan to compile a directory of at least 100 Eastern region artists, hold at least one group exhibition of members’ works, and appoint an interim committee to draft regulations and prepare for official association registration.
