Rana Sanaullah calls AJK polls free and fair

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has defended the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections. He described the polling process as peaceful, free, fair and credible.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Sanaullah said voters had exercised their democratic right across 13 constituencies of Mirpur Division on July 27.

According to unofficial results, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won nine seats. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured four seats.

Sanaullah congratulated the winning candidates. He also praised the Election Commission, AJK administration and security agencies for managing the election process.

He said the polls were held despite a challenging security situation. He added that the authorities took steps to maintain law and order throughout polling.

The prime minister’s aide urged opposition parties to respect the voters’ decision. However, he said they were free to challenge any alleged irregularities through constitutional and legal channels.

Sanaullah said complaints regarding the election would be examined by the relevant authorities. He stressed that political parties should use legal forums instead of creating political tensions.

He also said polling hours were extended by one hour. The extension was given to facilitate voters and allow more people to cast their ballots. He estimated voter turnout at between 40 and 60 per cent.

Sanaullah said the election was largely peaceful. However, a serious incident occurred in LA-9 Nakyal. A dispute between members of the same family reportedly turned violent because of political differences.

One person was killed and another was injured in the incident. Police arrested several suspects in connection with the shooting.

Sanaullah also mentioned the killing of PML-N leader Malik Ashiq. He was shot during an election rally in Kotli on July 11.

The government official further claimed that a candidate from LA-6 and members of his campaign team attempted to take ballot boxes after polling. He said the suspects were arrested and a case was registered.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam also addressed the press conference. He said the PML-N’s performance showed strong public support for the party.

Muqam said the party would work to fulfil the promises made during its election campaign.

Sanaullah attributed the PML-N’s success to teamwork and its political leadership. He also said development initiatives in Punjab had contributed to the party’s electoral performance.

The election results have triggered political exchanges between the PML-N and PPP. The PPP has raised allegations of irregularities and accused the government of influencing the election process.

The PML-N has rejected the allegations. It has also accused political opponents of attempting to manipulate the electoral process.

The Election Commission has said that violations of electoral rules will be dealt with under the law.

The AJK elections are being conducted in three phases. The first phase covered 13 constituencies in Mirpur Division.

The second phase is scheduled for August 2. It will cover Muzaffarabad Division and refugee constituencies.

The final phase will be held in Poonch Division on August 10.

Sanaullah said the government was ready to address genuine complaints. He maintained that political parties should follow constitutional procedures while challenging election results.

Eman Fatima gets emotional discussing divorce controversy

Content creator Eman Fatima has emotionally opened up regarding her ongoing divorce controversy with her estranged husband, prominent Pakistani YouTuber and vlogger Rajab Butt, sharing the intense emotional toll, public scrutiny, and personal heartbreaks that have accompanied their high-profile split. The public breakdown of their marriage captured widespread attention after legal divorce notices were issued, transforming a once-private marital dispute into a heavily debated online saga. Addressing her followers in an emotional video statement, Eman broke down while expressing her pain over how the fallout has affected both her and their infant son, Kivan. Responding to criticism accusing her of leveraging public sympathy and playing the “woman’s card” to sway opinion, Eman firmly rejected the claims, emphasizing that her primary motivation in speaking out has been to defend her character and safeguard her child’s future. She shared the immense difficulty of navigating pregnancy, health struggles, and legal complications largely in isolation, expressing deep regret over how private vulnerabilities were broadcast to digital audiences for content and engagement. ”No woman marries expecting it to end in public humiliation or divorce, especially when a child is involved. To be accused of playing cards or seeking clout while simply trying to protect my dignity and my son is heartbreaking. I stayed silent through so much, but when false narratives threaten your integrity, you have no choice but to speak up. All I wanted was respect and a stable home for my child.” Eman also reflected on the breakdown of trust within the relationship, addressing allegations of infidelity and persistent domestic friction with in-laws that plagued their brief time together. She lamented that despite making compromises and forgiving past mistakes, the lack of private resolution and mutual respect ultimately made sustaining the marriage impossible. The emotional statement has reignited intense debate across social media, drawing widespread sympathy from fans and digital creators who condemned the trend of turning personal family tragedies into public online fodder. Many users voiced support for Eman, urging both parties to handle their remaining legal matters privately for the well-being of their young son. As the couple moves toward formal legal closure, Eman’s candid response highlights the dark side of influencer culture, where private grief and familial breakdown are increasingly exposed to the unforgiving spotlight of public judgment.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Jacob Batalon revea…

Jacob Batalon is shining a spotlight on one of the most talked-about additions to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actor, who reprises his beloved role as Ned Leeds, recently opened up about the film’s innovative “Spidey Tracker” and explained why the feature perfectly reflects his character’s personality. Speaking to People magazine, Batalon shared that Ned’s intelligence has always been one of his defining qualities, making the new technology a natural extension of his journey.  “I think what’s really cool about Ned is that they never really lost his intelligence,” Batalon said during the interview. Since making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ned has been known as Peter Parker’s trusted “guy in the chair,” using his technical skills to help Spider-Man behind the scenes. Even after the emotional events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest film continues to showcase Ned’s sharp mind in a fresh and exciting way.  In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Ned develops the Spidey Tracker, an app designed to help locate Spider-Man across New York City. Ironically, because of Doctor Strange’s memory spell in No Way Home, Ned no longer remembers that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. As a result, he unknowingly spends his time tracking his former best friend without realizing their shared history. The emotional twist adds another layer to the character while staying true to the franchise’s ongoing storyline.  Beyond its role in the movie, the Spidey Tracker has also become a real-world experience for fans. Sony Pictures and Samsung partnered to launch an interactive version of the tracker, allowing fans to follow Spider-Man-themed events, explore global sightings, and connect with the film’s promotional campaign. Batalon praised the collaboration, saying Samsung’s foldable devices fit perfectly with Ned’s tech-loving personality and made the fictional app feel even more believable.  The actor also reflected on how much the Spider-Man franchise has meant to him over the past decade. Batalon expressed gratitude for growing alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya, describing his co-stars as family. He said the films not only shaped his career but also allowed him to build lasting friendships both on and off the screen.  Ned has long been a fan favorite because of his humor, loyalty, and intelligence, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to build on those strengths. Rather than changing who the character is, the new film gives him another opportunity to showcase the skills that audiences have loved since 2017. With the Spidey Tracker serving as both a clever story element and an engaging fan experience, Batalon believes the feature captures everything that makes Ned special. As Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its successful theatrical run, Batalon’s latest comments offer fans a deeper appreciation for one of the franchise’s most relatable characters. His enthusiasm for Ned’s evolution suggests there is still plenty of room for the character to grow in future Marvel adventures.

Epstein survivors urge UK PM to deliver justice

The UK Epstein Survivors Campaign has renewed its call for truth, accountability and justice, urging Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s government to take further action over the Jeffrey Epstein case. The campaign has expressed hope that the new government will be more willing to engage directly with survivors and address long-standing questions surrounding Epstein’s links to influential figures and institutions. A spokesperson for the campaign said survivors believed there was now an opportunity to obtain the truth they had been seeking for years. The group welcomed what it described as Burnham’s willingness to listen to victims and show compassion toward those affected by Epstein’s crimes. The campaign also called for greater transparency over how Epstein was able to gain access to powerful circles and continue his criminal activities for such a long period. The issue has also been raised by the government’s victims minister, whose responsibilities have reportedly been expanded to cover international matters. The minister has said that survivors and victims deserve a complete account of what happened so that those responsible can be held accountable. He has backed the idea of a full statutory public inquiry into Epstein’s access to the British establishment and the circumstances that allowed his abuse and criminal activity to continue. Supporters of the proposed inquiry argue that it should have sufficient legal powers to compel witnesses and obtain relevant communications, including messages and emails. They say such powers would be necessary to establish the full chain of events and determine whether individuals or institutions failed to act when concerns about Epstein were known. The campaign maintains that a comprehensive investigation is essential not only for survivors but also for preventing similar failures in the future. It wants the authorities to examine how Epstein built relationships with powerful people and why safeguards failed to stop his activities earlier. The renewed demand comes as pressure continues for greater transparency surrounding the wider Epstein case. Survivors and campaigners have repeatedly argued that accountability should extend beyond Epstein himself and include any individuals or institutions that enabled or overlooked wrongdoing.

Nolan’s Odyssey explores the cost of flawed choices

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey explores a character who is far from a conventional hero. Odysseus is brave, intelligent and determined. He is also deeply flawed. That complexity appears to be at the centre of Nolan’s interest in the ancient Greek epic. The nearly 3,000-year-old story follows Odysseus as he attempts to return to Ithaca after the Trojan War. His journey is filled with violence, loss, temptation and encounters with powerful gods and mythical creatures. Yet the film is not simply about a warrior trying to find his way home. It is also about the consequences of his decisions. Odysseus repeatedly makes choices that produce consequences he struggles to control. His actions often begin with understandable motives. Revenge, anger, pride and a desire to protect his men push him into increasingly dangerous situations. His treatment of the Trojans is one example. Odysseus considers himself a man who respects the rules of combat. However, the Trojan War forces him into tactics that contradict his personal principles. The wooden horse becomes the most striking example of this conflict. His deception helps the Greeks defeat Troy, but it also establishes a chain of events that follows him long after the war ends. His encounter with the Cyclops Polyphemus further exposes his weaknesses. Odysseus and his crew manage to escape the Cyclops’ cave. But instead of leaving quietly, Odysseus attacks again. His decision is driven by anger and revenge. The consequences are devastating. Polyphemus calls upon his father, Poseidon, to punish Odysseus. The resulting curse turns the journey home into an extended ordeal. Odysseus continues trying to save his men. However, his efforts repeatedly end in tragedy. One decision leads to another, and the consequences gradually become impossible to contain. His crew members begin to lose faith in their commander. The man determined to bring them home becomes the leader whose decisions ultimately contribute to their deaths. This moral conflict is familiar territory for Nolan. The director has repeatedly built stories around protagonists whose choices carry enormous consequences. Bruce Wayne, for example, attempts to protect Gotham by allowing a dangerous lie surrounding Harvey Dent to survive. The consequences eventually force him to confront the price of that decision. In Oppenheimer, the central character develops the atomic bomb in an attempt to help defeat Nazi Germany. Yet his success leaves him haunted by the destructive power he helped unleash. Dunkirk presents another interpretation of home. For the soldiers trapped on the beaches of France, home represents survival, safety and the possibility of returning with their dignity intact. For Oppenheimer, however, home becomes something more complicated. It represents the peace of mind he can no longer recover after witnessing the consequences of his work. For Odysseus, home is deeply personal. Ithaca represents his family, his kingdom and the identity he lost during two decades away. Returning home is therefore more than reaching a physical destination. His journey changes him. He leaves as a king and eventually returns disguised as a beggar. Along the way, he encounters monsters, hostile forces and divine punishment. He also watches his companions disappear one by one. By the time Odysseus reaches the end of his journey, the question is no longer simply whether he can return home. The bigger question is whether a man who has experienced so much violence can ever truly return as the person he once was. That question sits comfortably within Nolan’s broader storytelling style. His characters often achieve their goals but pay an enormous personal price. Their victories rarely come without consequences. The Odyssey brings that recurring theme to one of its most ancient and powerful forms. Odysseus survives the journey, but survival does not erase what happened along the way. His homecoming becomes a reckoning with the violence, losses and choices that shaped him. Nolan’s interpretation therefore turns the epic into more than an adventure story. It becomes a meditation on guilt, responsibility, identity and the lasting cost of extraordinary choices. At its heart, The Odyssey asks what happens when a man spends years fighting to return home, only to discover that the journey has changed the meaning of home itself.
