Saif Ali Khan shares behind-the-scenes details from Aap Ki Izzat

Pakistani actor Saif Ali Khan, who gained recognition after appearing in the reality show Tamasha 4, is gradually making his mark in the television industry. A software engineer by profession, Saif has successfully balanced his career with his passion for acting and singing. He has also built a strong fan following on social media, where more than 466,000 people follow his updates. After making his acting debut in Aap Ki Izzat, the emerging star is now preparing for two more television projects.

In a recent television interview, Saif Ali Khan spoke about his experience of playing a vegetable vendor in Aap Ki Izzat and revealed interesting details about filming one of the drama’s most talked-about train sequences alongside Urwa Hocane.

Although his character appears to be an ordinary vegetable seller at first glance, Saif explained that the role carries much greater importance within the storyline. He said that the drama mainly revolves around four central characters, including Beena, Tabish, the character played by Sania Saeed, and his own role. According to the actor, he immediately understood the significance of the character after reading the script and believed it was much more than what audiences would initially assume.

Saif added that viewers will gradually discover the true impact of his character as the story unfolds. He expressed confidence that every appearance of his character serves a meaningful purpose and contributes directly to the development of the plot.

The actor also discussed his on-screen chemistry with Urwa Hocane, whose character Beena shares an important connection with his role. While fans have been curious about the direction of their relationship in the drama, Saif chose not to reveal any major details.

He said he wanted audiences to experience the story without spoilers, adding that revealing too much in advance would take away the excitement. According to Saif, the relationship between Beena and Behram has several unexpected twists, and viewers will have to continue watching the drama to see how their journey unfolds.

Speaking about one of the drama’s visually striking moments, Saif shared behind-the-scenes details about the train sequence that has attracted viewers’ attention. He revealed that the sequence was filmed during January under extremely cold weather conditions, making it one of the more challenging shoots for the cast and crew.

The actor explained that although a real train and an actual railway station were used for filming, the train itself was stationary during production. Some portions of the sequence were later enhanced using chroma technology to create the illusion of movement and make the scenes appear more realistic on screen.

Saif also praised the production team for their professionalism and dedication throughout the filming process. He credited the crew for carefully executing the technically demanding sequence and ensuring that the final result looked convincing despite the challenges involved.

With Aap Ki Izzat introducing him to television audiences and more projects already in the pipeline, Saif Ali Khan continues to establish himself as one of Pakistan’s promising emerging actors. His latest comments have given fans an interesting glimpse into the hard work that goes into bringing dramatic scenes to life while also increasing anticipation for the upcoming episodes of the drama.

Fakhar Zaman urges patience over PSL performers

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has urged selectors and fans not to judge players solely on one or two impressive Pakistan Super League (PSL) performances, stressing that franchise cricket is very different from the demands of international cricket. Speaking during a media interaction in Lahore, the experienced batter said consistency should remain the key criterion for national team selection. The 35-year-old noted that several young cricketers earn Pakistan call-ups after performing in only a handful of PSL matches. While he welcomed healthy competition for places in the national side, he insisted that players must prove themselves over a longer period before being considered ready for international cricket. Fakhar said: “Many youngsters break into the national side after performing in just one or two Pakistan Super League matches. If a young player is good enough to take my place in the white-ball team, they are welcome to do so tomorrow. However, they must prove their quality, consistency, and form.” The left-handed opener explained that domestic and franchise cricket cannot be compared directly with the international game. According to him, many players realise the difference only after representing Pakistan, where the level of competition and pressure is much higher. He added: “When domestic performers step into international cricket, they realize the difference is significant. Development camps like these should be held regularly. A player should not be labeled extraordinary after just one or two good PSL matches because league cricket and international cricket are very different.” Fakhar also spoke about Pakistan’s batting order, revealing that discussions had taken place with the team management. However, he made it clear that certain decisions remain internal and cannot be discussed publicly. He said: “We have discussed the batting order with the management, but some matters cannot be shared publicly. I always think about what the team needs, and that remains my priority. Every player has personal preferences, but not everything can be discussed in the media. The important thing is that we are all on the same page.” The opener emphasised that team success always comes before individual preferences. While every batter has a preferred position in the lineup, he said professional players must be willing to adapt according to the team’s requirements. Looking ahead, Fakhar also expressed confidence about Pakistan’s future assignments in South Africa. He recalled enjoying success on South African pitches in the past and believes the conditions complement his style of batting. He concluded by saying: “I have many good memories of playing in South Africa. The bouncy pitches suit my technique, and I am preparing with the 2027 World Cup firmly in mind.” Fakhar’s remarks come as Pakistan continues to evaluate its white-ball squad ahead of major international tournaments. His comments highlight the importance of balancing opportunities for emerging players with the need for consistency and experience at the highest level. While welcoming competition, the veteran opener believes sustained performances—not just a brief run of form in the PSL—should determine who earns the honour of representing Pakistan on the international stage.

Vicky Kaushal prepares for major transformation in Mahavatar

Vicky Kaushal is reportedly preparing for one of the most demanding physical transformations of his career as he gears up to play the legendary warrior sage Parashurama in the upcoming mythological film Mahavatar. According to recent reports, the actor will undergo an intensive fitness programme that includes gaining more than 25 kilograms to achieve the larger-than-life physique required for the role. As reported by Mid-Day, Kaushal is set to reunite with celebrity fitness coach Tejas Lalwani, who previously helped him transform for the historical blockbuster Chhaava. The actor reportedly plans to begin training in September, nearly three months before the film goes on floors in December. The makers are said to be aiming for a transformation even more challenging than the one he underwent for Chhaava. For Chhaava, Kaushal increased his weight from 80 kg to 105 kg to portray Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. However, Mahavatar will reportedly require an even bigger and more muscular frame to accurately portray Parashurama, one of Hindu mythology’s most powerful warrior sages. According to the report, the character demands a commanding screen presence and the physical strength to convincingly perform intense action sequences involving the iconic parashu (battle axe). The report states that Kaushal’s preparation will focus on three key areas: training, nutrition and recovery. Fitness coach Tejas Lalwani and nutritionist Alkesh Sharotri have reportedly designed a rigorous programme to help the actor build size and strength while maintaining overall fitness. His workout routine is expected to revolve around compound exercises, including squats, deadlifts, bench presses and pull-ups, with the intensity gradually increasing over the training period. Alongside the workouts, Kaushal is reportedly expected to consume an additional 250 to 500 calories daily, following a protein-rich diet that includes nuts, dairy products and whole grains to support healthy muscle gain. Recovery is also expected to play a crucial role in the transformation. According to the report, Kaushal will follow a strict recovery schedule that includes eight hours of sleep every night and 48-hour rest periods for each muscle group to minimise fatigue and maximise muscle growth during the demanding preparation. Mahavatar reunites Kaushal with Tejas Lalwani after their successful collaboration on Chhaava, a performance that earned widespread praise for the actor’s commitment to physically embodying the Maratha ruler. The upcoming film is expected to present an even greater challenge as Kaushal steps into a mythological role requiring extraordinary physical presence. While Mahavatar remains one of his most anticipated future projects, Kaushal’s next major theatrical release will be Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Love & War, scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 21, 2027. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see the actor’s dramatic transformation once filming for Mahavatar begins.

Flood alert as rivers rise, Sukkur, Marala and Bal…

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is bracing for another spell of flood-related risks as heavy monsoon rains, rising river levels and high water storage at major dams put several parts of the country on alert. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), through its National Emergencies Operation Centre, has warned of possible low to moderate flooding in vulnerable areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to the latest assessment, the Indus River has already reached low flood levels at Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa and Guddu. While the Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum, Kabul and Sutlej are currently within normal ranges, officials expect water flows in several major rivers to increase on August 8 and 9. The NDMA has identified Sukkur on the Indus, Marala on the Chenab and Balloki on the Ravi as areas where low-level flooding could occur. The Jhelum downstream of Mangla Dam and the Kabul River near Adezai are also being closely monitored. Several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Upper Dir, Abbottabad, Shangla, Khyber, Orakzai, Kohat, Tank and North and South Waziristan, face the possibility of low to moderate flooding. In AJK, Bagh and Kotli are also considered vulnerable, while Zhob, Musakhel, Kohlu, Barkhan and Dera Bugti in Balochistan remain under watch. Punjab is facing risks from hill torrents, particularly in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur. The NDMA has also warned of possible urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Okara and Lahore. Water storage at the country’s major reservoirs remains high. Tarbela Dam’s water level has reached 1,548 feet, with storage at 97.94 per cent, compared with 95.98 per cent during the same period last year. Mangla Dam is at 1,205.2 feet, with storage recorded at 62.99 per cent, slightly above last year’s 62.80 per cent. Authorities have urged residents, tourists and travellers in mountainous and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant, as intense monsoon rainfall can trigger flash floods, landslides and debris flows with little warning. People have been advised to avoid riverbanks, streams and other vulnerable locations and to check weather forecasts and road conditions before travelling as the monsoon system continues to affect the country.

Mehar Bano’s fake death prank reel receives backlash

A reel that actress and writer Mehar Bano posted while on a trip to northern Pakistan has gone viral for all the wrong reasons, with many viewers finding the premise of the video deeply unfunny and some expressing genuine alarm before realising it was staged. Mehar Bano, known for her bold screen presence and her work across Pakistani dramas and films, was on vacation with a group of friends when they decided to create a prank reel built around the concept of her fake death. The video was filmed in the style of a breaking Pakistani news report, with Mehar lying motionless on a rock while her friends played the roles of reporters and devastated family members lamenting that their holiday had been ruined by her sudden passing. The production was deliberately styled after the kind of dramatic live television reporting that Pakistani news channels are known for, clearly intended as satire. The internet, however, was not amused. The backlash was immediate and pointed. Comments flooded in from viewers who found the death prank concept distasteful rather than clever. “I actually thought she died,” wrote one person, capturing the alarm that the video initially triggered before its prank nature became clear. Another was far blunter in their assessment, writing simply, “What a third class act.” A third commenter expressed their reaction without ambiguity: “I did not find this funny.” The response reflects a broader sensitivity in Pakistani digital culture around death-related humour, particularly when it is framed as breaking news. For a country where audiences have frequently received genuinely distressing news about public figures through social media and news channels, a video that mimics that format as a prank occupies uncomfortable territory. What the creators of the reel may have seen as a piece of satirical comedy landed for many viewers as something that was using a format associated with real loss and real grief for the sake of social media engagement. The criticism also reflects something about the evolving relationship between Pakistani celebrities and their online audiences. There is a growing expectation that public figures, particularly those who occupy cultural space as artists and writers, should bring a certain level of thoughtfulness to the content they share publicly. For those who follow Mehar Bano and appreciate her work, the reel felt like a misalignment between the intelligence they associate with her and the specific choice she made here. Mehar Bano has not publicly responded to the backlash or addressed the criticism of the reel at the time of writing. The video remains shared on her Instagram account, where the comment section continues to reflect the divided reaction it has generated.
