Sindh forms third medical board for exhumation of …

The Sindh government has constituted a third medical board to carry out the exhumation and medico-legal examination of 25-year-old businessman Mir Ali Raza’s body, following controversy over the findings of his initial post-mortem report.

The new eight-member medical board was notified by the Sindh Health Department on Friday after two earlier notifications were withdrawn. The exhumation, which was initially scheduled for Friday, was postponed after the deceased’s family raised objections over the sudden changes in the medical board.

According to the latest notification, Police Surgeon Dr Sumaiyya Syed has been appointed as the convener of the board, while Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Pathology Department Head Professor Dr Naseem Ahmed will serve as the pathologist.

Other members of the board include forensic expert Dr Farah Waseem from Jinnah Sindh Medical University, forensic identification expert Amir Hassan Khan, Additional Police Surgeon Dr Srichand, and medico-legal officers from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), including Dr Kamran Khan and Dr Daniyal Mirza. The board has also been authorized to include additional experts if required.

The exhumation has been scheduled for Saturday, August 8, at 11am, according to the Office of the Police Surgeon. A civil judge and judicial magistrate Karachi-XXI will also be present during the procedure.

The decision to exhume Mir Ali Raza’s body came after his father approached the court seeking further investigation. A Karachi court allowed the exhumation and directed authorities to form a medico-legal board to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.

The case gained attention after concerns were raised regarding possible inconsistencies in the original autopsy report. Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Sumaiyya Syed had pointed out that certain observations in the post-mortem report appeared inconsistent with available photographs, including questions regarding the bullet entry and exit wounds.

She stated that the reported bullet trajectory and wounds required further examination and noted that gunshot residue testing, which can be relevant in suspected suicide cases, had not been conducted.

Police officials responded by saying that such comments could affect the ongoing investigation but acknowledged that exhumation could provide further clarification through a committee of medical experts with court approval.

Mir Ali Raza, the owner of food outlet Wafflix, went missing on July 28. His body was discovered the following day near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-e-Jauhar with a gunshot wound. Initially, a kidnapping case was registered at Ferozabad Police Station on his father’s complaint.

Police said their investigation indicated that Ali had been facing financial difficulties and had contacted friends for financial assistance before his death. Investigators said he left his home in PECHS Block-2 and traveled by a ride-hailing taxi, which dropped him near the location where his body was later found.

The latest medical board is expected to examine the remains and provide further forensic findings that may help clarify the circumstances surrounding Mir Ali Raza’s death.

In that emotional post, Johar remembered one of his earliest conversations with Shah Rukh during a trip to Switzerland. He wrote: “Switzerland … I was looking at the mountains (pretending to be homesick and seeking sympathy). He came to me and said Tu director banega aur teri pehli film main karoonga.’ (You will become a director and I will do your first film). I thought to myself… he’s probably low on oxygen and may not completely know what he’s saying.” Johar went on to thank Shah Rukh for always believing in him as a filmmaker, referring to the superstar as his “guru.” Their friendship has produced several successful films over the years, making them one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actor-director partnerships. Professionally, both stars have busy schedules ahead. Karan Johar is preparing to return as host of the second season of The Traitors, which is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on August 13. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for one of the biggest projects of his career, King, in which he will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. The highly anticipated film is currently slated for release on December 24, 2026. Gold prices surge in global and Pakistan markets

Karachi: Gold prices witnessed a significant increase in both international and local markets on Tuesday, driven by strong gains in the global bullion market. The latest surge pushed gold to new record levels, impacting precious metal prices across Pakistan. According to market data, the international bullion market recorded a $47 increase per ounce, taking the global gold price to $4,068 per ounce. The sharp rise reflects continued investor demand for safe-haven assets amid global economic uncertainty and market volatility. Following the upward trend in international markets, Pakistan’s local bullion market also experienced a notable jump in gold prices. The price of 24-karat gold per tola increased by Rs4,700, reaching Rs429,236. The increase marks one of the most significant single-day gains in recent weeks. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold climbed by Rs4,029, bringing the new rate to Rs368,000. The latest price hike is expected to affect jewelry buyers and investors, as demand for gold typically fluctuates with changes in international market trends. Silver prices also followed the upward trajectory. The price of silver per tola increased by Rs219, reaching Rs6,396, while the price of 10 grams of silver rose by Rs188 to Rs5,483. Experts believe that local precious metal prices will continue to remain closely linked to international bullion market movements and fluctuations in the exchange rate. Any further increase in global gold prices or changes in economic conditions could lead to additional price adjustments in Pakistan’s bullion market. Investors and consumers are advised to monitor daily gold and silver rates before making purchasing or investment decisions, as prices remain highly sensitive to global economic developments and market sentiment.

Lee Andrews’ father freed from Dubai prison

The father of Katie Price’s estranged husband, Lee Andrews, has reportedly been released from Dubai’s Al Awir Central Prison after being briefly detained alongside his son on fraud and financial debt allegations, according to local reports. The elder Andrews was taken into custody earlier this month after becoming embroiled in the complex web of financial and legal disputes surrounding his son in the United Arab Emirates. The dramatic arrest meant both father and son were simultaneously held inside the high-security Dubai correctional facility, which frequently detains foreign nationals involved in civil and criminal litigation. While details regarding the exact terms of his release remain limited, sources indicate that the elder Andrews was freed after authorities resolved his preliminary processing matters and cleared his immediate detention status. However, Lee Andrews remains behind bars as he works to secure the substantial funds required to clear multiple outstanding financial judgments and legal claims lodged against him in the UAE. The ongoing legal saga initially made international headlines after British media personality and model Katie Price launched a public search for Andrews, whom she married in January following a whirlwind 15-day romance. Andrews had mysteriously disappeared while attempting to travel to the United Kingdom, leading Price and his family to express fears that he had been kidnapped on suspicion of espionage. However, UAE authorities later confirmed that Andrews had been arrested over unpaid civil debts and alleged business fraud. Court records and insider reports reveal that Andrews faces multiple legal proceedings in Dubai, including a dispute with a local car rental agency over an unpaid bill exceeding 266,000 dirhams (approximately £54,000), alongside thousands in unpaid legal fees owed to a UAE law firm. Additional allegations involve an unpaid £140,000 court fine and claims from international investors alleging fraudulent property schemes. Despite remaining incarcerated, Andrews has reportedly assured fellow inmates that his release is imminent once his legal team finishes processing financial settlements with creditors. Meanwhile, Price—who recently traveled to Dubai to visit him behind bars—has publicly refused to assist him financially or set up crowdfunding campaigns to cover his debts. Friends close to the former glamour model indicate that she is growing increasingly frustrated by the mounting legal drama, with reports suggesting she is considering formal divorce proceedings once Andrews’ legal issues in the Emirates are fully resolved.

Nicole Kidman makes surprise confession about her …

Nicole Kidman has opened up about one of the most defining chapters of her life, reflecting on her high-profile marriage to Tom Cruise and the impact it had on her early career. In a candid interview with British Vogue, the Oscar-winning actress looked back on marrying Cruise at a very young age. Kidman was just 22 when she entered the spotlight as the wife of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. She admitted that the experience quickly changed how the public viewed her. “Because of who I married, at such a young age, I was thrust into it since I was 22,” Kidman said. “Yeah, I got married so young.” (People.com) Kidman and Cruise met while working together on Days of Thunder in 1990. They married on Christmas Eve that same year and went on to become one of Hollywood’s most closely watched couples. During their 11-year marriage, they adopted two children, Isabella and Connor, and appeared together in films including Far and Away and Eyes Wide Shut. (People.com) Looking back, Kidman said she was deeply in love and did not worry about how the marriage might affect her professional future. She recalled being warned that marrying such a famous actor could hurt her career, but she simply wanted to follow her heart. “I was in love. I wanted to be married,” she explained, according to reports on the interview. At the time, she did not see the decision as something that needed to be carefully calculated. (Page Six) However, Kidman acknowledged that the prediction about her identity becoming tied to Cruise eventually came true. For years, she was often described primarily as “Tom Cruise’s wife,” rather than being recognized independently for her own work. (The Times) Their marriage ended in 2001, but Kidman later built an acclaimed career of her own, earning major recognition for films such as The Hours and becoming a leading figure in television through projects including Big Little Lies and The Undoing. Today, Kidman appears to view her younger self with greater understanding. Rather than completely rejecting that chapter, she recognizes how much it shaped the woman and performer she eventually became. Her latest comments offer a rare glimpse into a relationship she has generally kept private. More than two decades after the divorce, Kidman’s reflections suggest that her past remains complicated—but it is also an important part of the journey that helped define her remarkable career.
