Sunita, Hassan reflect on 18 years of marriage

Actors Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed have shared heartwarming and humorous insights into their 18-year marriage, revealing how time has strengthened their relationship and admitting that they are equally clumsy in everyday life. Appearing together on a comedy show, the celebrity couple reflected on their journey, memorable incidents and the lessons they have learned over nearly two decades together.
Speaking about married life, Hassan said understanding develops naturally over the years and eventually reaches a point where words are no longer necessary.
“If you take out the first eight to 10 years, after that you understand each other so well that you don’t even have to ask why the other person is quiet. You also learn to ignore some faults.”
He also credited Sunita with changing the way he approaches life.
“She has taught me not to worry over every small issue and to avoid overthinking.”
The couple, who belong to different faiths, married in 2008 through both an Islamic Nikah and a Catholic church ceremony. They are now parents to two children and are regarded as one of Pakistan’s most admired celebrity couples.
Sunita recalled a funny incident from the early days of their marriage when the pair were walking to a nearby shoot. Hassan realised he had forgotten his sunglasses and insisted on going back because he wanted to look “cool.” Despite Sunita repeatedly telling him he would have to remove them once inside the dark studio, he refused.
She recalled:
“As soon as I entered the studio, I turned around to tell him again to take them off. The next thing I heard was a loud noise. He was lying on the floor.”
The actor explained that Hassan had failed to notice a small step at the entrance because he walked straight from bright sunlight into the dimly lit studio while still wearing the sunglasses.
The couple also laughed about another accident at home, when Sunita slipped while walking downstairs.
Hassan recalled:
“She kept sliding down and just wouldn’t stop.”
Instead of panicking, he admitted he burst into laughter, adding that he himself has fallen at least three times because of his own clumsiness.
Hassan also confessed that his awkward moments extend to driving. He remembered accidentally reversing his car into a drain while his father was sitting beside him and being immediately scolded.
The actor further narrated a spooky incident from his younger days when he believed he saw a woman dressed in white while driving home late at night. He said his car stalled, and after restarting it, the mysterious figure had disappeared. Frightened, he called a friend, who jokingly replied:
“Wait, let me switch on my room lights first, then tell me.”
The interview also touched on their acting careers. Hassan revealed that his role in Pinjra was emotionally exhausting.
“I would never want to relive that character because it had a huge impact on my mind and heart.”
Sunita said she was grateful for the roles she had played despite many being tragic.
“Still, I am very content with all the roles I have done but I wouldn’t want to do them again because they were all tragic.”
Hassan also admitted that audiences often confuse him with the villains he portrays.
“After playing so many negative characters, people start believing that is how you are in real life.”
Filled with laughter, heartfelt reflections and amusing stories, the interview gave fans another glimpse into the chemistry that has made Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed one of Pakistan’s most beloved celebrity couples both on and off screen.

Norwegian teenager convicted of conspiracy to commit contract murder in the UK for Iran-linked gang

Following a retrial at the Old Bailey, 19-year-old Norwegian national Johannes Kongsnes Natland has been found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. Natland had travelled from Stavanger to Huddersfield in March last year after accepting a €25,000 (£21,500) contract to assassinate an unidentified target in the UK. Counter-terrorism officers arrested Natland in a hotel room two days after his arrival, recovering a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver, and ammunition concealed under his bed. The plot was orchestrated by the Foxtrot Network, a Swedish organised crime group linked to the Iranian government, and directed by an unidentified controller using the moniker “Agent 47”. While Natland claimed during the trial that he viewed the plot as a “joke” and intended to shoot himself in the foot to avoid executing the hit, prosecutors presented evidence of text messages and bragging that demonstrated his full awareness of the plan. Natland, who previously pleaded guilty to firearms possession, was remanded in custody by Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb and is scheduled for sentencing in October.

Pakistan receives $3.6 billion in remittances in J…

KARACHI: Pakistan received $3.6 billion in workers’ remittances from overseas Pakistanis during July 2026, marking a significant increase compared with the same period last year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The central bank reported that remittance inflows increased by 13% year-on-year in July and also recorded a 4.5% rise compared with the previous month. The latest figures highlight the continued importance of overseas Pakistanis in supporting the country’s foreign exchange position and overall economic stability. Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances during the month, sending $913.9 million to Pakistan. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed with $737.3 million, while overseas Pakistanis in the United Kingdom contributed $555.5 million. The United States also remained an important source, accounting for $317.2 million in remittance inflows. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the increase and expressed satisfaction over the $3.6 billion received in July. In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, he said the 13% year-on-year increase in remittances was encouraging and reflected the continued contribution of overseas Pakistanis to the national economy. The prime minister also highlighted the 4.5% month-on-month growth, saying that the consistent financial support provided by overseas Pakistanis was playing an important role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy. He described overseas Pakistanis as a valuable and integral part of the country’s economic mainstream. The latest figures have also generated positive expectations regarding Pakistan’s remittance outlook for the ongoing financial year. Topline Research estimated that remittances could reach around $40.1 billion during FY27 if the current trend continues. Economist Dr Khaqan Najeeb said remittances were becoming increasingly important as a source of foreign exchange, particularly at a time when Pakistan’s export sector continued to face difficulties. According to him, the country’s weak domestic economic conditions, limited employment opportunities and significant differences between local and international wages were encouraging more Pakistanis to seek employment abroad. He noted that the movement of workers overseas was resulting in a corresponding flow of foreign exchange back into Pakistan. The economist said these inflows were helping the country manage its balance of payments and reduce pressure on its external accounts. However, he also warned that the growing dependence on remittances highlighted deeper structural weaknesses within the domestic economy. Dr Najeeb pointed out that Pakistan’s increasing reliance on overseas employment reflected the country’s inability to generate enough productive and well-paying jobs at home. While remittances provide valuable financial support and strengthen foreign exchange reserves, he argued that sustainable economic growth requires stronger domestic employment opportunities and a more competitive export sector. The July figures therefore present both an encouraging development and a broader economic challenge. Rising remittances are providing Pakistan with much-needed foreign exchange, but policymakers also face the task of improving domestic economic conditions so that overseas employment becomes a choice rather than a necessity for a growing number of Pakistanis.

Google marks Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with special Doodle

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day has received a colourful digital tribute from Google, which replaced its familiar homepage logo with a special Doodle inspired by the country’s national colours. The special artwork appeared on Google’s Pakistan homepage on Friday, August 14, adding a digital touch to celebrations taking place across the country and among Pakistani communities around the world. Instead of the company’s usual multicoloured “Google” logo, users visiting the search engine in Pakistan were greeted with a design reflecting the green and white colours of the national flag. The simple but eye-catching tribute has brought Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations to one of the world’s most visited digital platforms, allowing millions of users to see the national-day themed artwork while using Google’s search service. A digital salute to Pakistan Google regularly creates special Doodles to mark national days, historic milestones, cultural occasions, achievements and notable personalities around the world. These temporary artworks replace or transform the company’s standard logo and often incorporate symbols associated with the occasion being commemorated. For Pakistan’s Independence Day this year, Google has continued that tradition with a design centred on the country’s national identity. The appearance of the Doodle comes as Pakistanis across the country celebrate August 14 with flag-hoisting ceremonies, patriotic songs, cultural events and public gatherings. From Islamabad and Lahore to Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta, streets, homes and public buildings have been decorated with the green and white colours of Pakistan. The digital tribute also gives the country’s large overseas community another reason to celebrate, with Pakistanis living in different parts of the world marking the occasion through social media, community events and family gatherings. Not Google’s first Pakistan tribute Google’s recognition of Pakistan’s Independence Day is not a new tradition. Over the years, the technology giant has marked Pakistan-related occasions with Doodles featuring elements of the country’s history, culture, architecture, art and natural heritage. Past designs have highlighted national symbols, historic landmarks and distinctive aspects of Pakistani identity, bringing them to a global online audience. The Doodles have become more than simple changes to a search-page logo. For many users, they offer a brief visual reminder of an important national occasion while connecting local celebrations with the wider digital world. This year’s green-and-white design carries a similarly simple message: Pakistan’s Independence Day is being celebrated not only on streets and public squares but also across the digital landscape. As the country marks 79 years of independence, Google’s colourful tribute has added a modern, global dimension to a day rooted in Pakistan’s history, identity and national pride.

Michael B. Jordan and RAYE spotted together at Six Flags

Michael B. Jordan and British singer RAYE have sparked widespread interest after spending part of Friday at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, where the pair were seen enjoying several of the theme park’s roller coasters. The unexpected appearance quickly drew attention after photographs and videos of the two surfaced online. In the footage, Jordan and RAYE can be seen seated on rides and talking while waiting for the attractions to begin. Their relaxed interaction and apparent enjoyment of the day prompted fans to speculate about whether the outing was more than a casual trip to the amusement park. The pair’s appearance at the Valencia-area theme park comes amid growing public curiosity about their personal lives. Social-media users reacted quickly to the images, with many questioning whether Jordan and RAYE could be romantically involved. Others pointed out that the two could simply have been spending time together as friends. At present, there is no public confirmation from either star that they are in a relationship. His recent work in Sinners further strengthened his position as both an actor and filmmaker. RAYE, 28, has established herself as one of Britain’s most distinctive contemporary singers and songwriters. Her breakthrough album My 21st Century Blues and international hit “Escapism.” helped propel her career beyond the UK. For now, the Six Flags visit offers no definitive answer about the nature of their relationship. What is certain is that their low-key amusement-park outing has generated considerable attention, turning an ordinary day of roller coasters into one of the weekend’s most discussed celebrity sightings. https://www.thecut.com/article/michael-b-jordan-raye-dating-rumors.html

‘Frozen 3’ first look teases Anna’s wedding, Elsa’s new mystery

“Frozen 3” has already generated significant buzz following its first official preview. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel unveiled a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel on Friday, August 14. The reveal took place at Disney’s D23 event, held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Fans reacted with immediate excitement as details of the new film began circulating online. The story is set to pick up directly from where the second film left off, following Anna and Elsa as their journey continues. As the sisters venture beyond Arendelle once again, they will face fresh mysteries and new challenges within the expanding magical world. Kristen Bell returns as Anna, while Idina Menzel reprises her role as Elsa. Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad are also back, voicing Kristoff and Olaf respectively. The first-look footage hinted at plenty of romance ahead, with Anna and Kristoff preparing for their wedding and honeymoon. Olaf, meanwhile, gets a lighthearted subplot of his own, introducing a new love interest named Samantha. Alongside the romantic moments, the preview featured new original music, a striking aurora sequence, and glimpses of the wedding celebration itself. But the biggest twist came when Elsa discovers a mysterious stone capable of opening a portal to an unknown, snow-covered dimension. Menzel described the new realm as far wilder and more dangerous than anything Elsa has ever created before. The footage closed with the arrival of a new, black-clad witch character, believed to be voiced by Greta Lee. The original “Frozen,” released in 2013, followed Anna’s journey alongside Kristoff and his reindeer Sven as they set out to find her sister Elsa. Elsa’s icy powers had trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter, driving the story’s central conflict. With romance, danger and a brand-new villain teased in the preview, anticipation for the threequel is already building. “Frozen 3” is currently scheduled for release on November 24, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to speculate about where the story goes next.
