Trump’s look-alike spotted behind president sparks internet frenzy

President Donald Trump has a doppelganger, and the internet can not stop talking about it.
A mystery man bearing a striking resemblance to Trump has gone viral online. His face does not actually look like Trump’s but his height, posture, and signature style all seem to match perfectly.
The clip first caught attention during a World Cup event. Trump was speaking to reporters about the tournament’s final and oddly enough, his words were not what stole the spotlight. It was the man standing behind him who grabbed everyone’s focus.
Jon Stewart picked up on the moment during a segment on The Daily Show. He could not hide his shock at the resemblance and jokingly asked if there was a backup version of Trump on standby. He kept replaying the clip, clearly stunned by how much the man’s build and stance matched the president’s.
Stewart even joked he was not sure which one was the real Trump anymore.
The clip quickly spread across social media, and users had their own theories. Some pointed to a popular show called Inside Job, which features a fictional robotic clone of a president. One viewer even suggested fans check it out, calling some of its ideas surprisingly close to reality.
Other users had simpler explanations. Someone suggested the man was likely a body double hired for security reasons.
Another commenter guessed the man could be John Solomon, a controversial political figure known for his election-related claims tied to the White House.
Despite the wave of guesses, most people online landed on one theory. Many believe the man is actually Viktor Knavs, Melania Trump’s father. Reports note that Knavs was indeed present at the World Cup final, which lines up with the timing of the viral clip.
Still, nobody has officially confirmed who the man really is. The White House has not commented on the viral footage, and the mystery man himself has not come forward.
For now, the internet is left buzzing with speculation, memes, and half-joking conspiracy theories. Whether it is a security double, a family member, or simply an odd coincidence, the resemblance has proven impossible to ignore.
One thing is certain, the video has given social media plenty to talk about this week.

Harry and Meghan’s brand faces a crossroads with UK return

In late July, Meghan’s lifestyle range, As Ever, launched a new blackberry spread alongside a softly lit video of her picking the fruit. A month later, she and Prince Harry announced plans to return and live in the UK, just as blackberry season winds down. Whether another such video follows remains unclear, especially since experts say the couple’s wider brand is now at a turning point. Since their departure from royal duties in 2020, most of the Sussexes’ California-based ventures, from streaming deals to fragrance lines, have struggled to draw large audiences. Experts say it’s genuinely unclear what direction they’ll take next. Their UK return has surprised many, and although they will not resume royal duties, questions remain about what comes instead. Oxford marketing professor Andrew Stephen says the couple excelled early at capturing attention and monetising it, but have struggled to turn that into a lasting brand identity. He describes their current portfolio as fragmented, spanning social impact, entertainment and lifestyle, making it hard to define exactly what their brand represents. Their $100 million Netflix deal and $25 million Spotify agreement, both signed in 2020, have delivered underwhelming results by most measures. The Netflix arrangement produced just five shows over five years before being replaced with a lower-commitment, first-look agreement last year. Spotify, meanwhile, parted ways with the couple back in 2023. Branding expert Susan Fournier warns that the couple’s repeated pivots, from royal insiders to critics to media producers to lifestyle influencers, carry real risk. She argues that once a brand shifts direction dramatically, reversing course becomes difficult, and a UK return could look like yet another turn rather than a resolution. Stephen suggests the solution lies in building a focused, coherent set of ventures and credible causes, rather than continuing to diversify. One possibility involves Meghan returning to acting, with reports suggesting talks over a role in Netflix’s “The Gentlemen.” Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, is also expected to continue regardless of the move. A potential relocation to the Cotswolds has also sparked interest, with stylist Laura Stoloff suggesting genuine synergy between Meghan’s brand and English country life. Still, Stephen cautions that a new postcode alone won’t reposition a brand, only consistent action will.

Pakistan eye changes for Lord’s Test after heavy defeat

LONDON: Pakistan are considering changes to their playing XI for the second Test against England at Lord’s after a heavy defeat in Leeds exposed several weaknesses in the visitors’ lineup. The second Test of the series is scheduled to begin on August 27, with Pakistan’s team management expected to finalise the playing XI after assessing conditions in London. Pakistan suffered a disappointing start to the series, losing the opening Test by an innings and 103 runs. The result has prompted the management to consider adjustments as the team looks to bounce back at the home of cricket. One of the major possibilities is a rest for wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. His potential absence would open the door for another player to take responsibility behind the stumps while allowing the team management to refresh its batting combination. The biggest question, however, surrounds Babar Azam. The former Pakistan captain missed the first Test because of a finger injury, but team management remains hopeful that he will recover in time to return for the Lord’s match. If Babar is declared fit, Azan Awais is reportedly likely to make way. His return would provide Pakistan with considerable experience in the middle order at a crucial stage of the series. Bowling plans could also change according to the conditions at Lord’s. Sources indicate that Pakistan may consider playing two spinners if the pitch and weather point towards a slower, drier contest. The management is also reportedly considering young fast bowler Ubaid Shah because of his extra pace. His ability to generate speed could provide Pakistan with a different attacking option against England’s strong batting lineup. The conditions in London are expected to differ from those encountered in Leeds. Reports suggest a relatively dry and potentially flat surface could be prepared, increasing the possibility of a match in which batting becomes easier as the game progresses. For Pakistan, the Lord’s Test is more than another fixture in the series. After being comprehensively beaten in Leeds, they need a strong response to regain confidence and keep the series alive. England, meanwhile, will enter the match with momentum and will be confident of repeating their dominant performance. Pakistan’s final XI could therefore prove crucial as they attempt to turn the tide at one of cricket’s most historic venues.

US launches strikes on Iran after attack on Jordan base

WASHINGTON/TEHRAN: Tensions between the United States and Iran have sharply escalated after Washington launched strikes against Iranian targets following a ballistic missile attack on a US military base in Jordan. US Central Command said its forces began the strikes at around 8pm Eastern Time on Wednesday. CENTCOM described the operation as a “powerful response” to attempted attacks against American forces in the Middle East. The strikes came after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for operations targeting US military assets in Jordan. The IRGC said it had targeted an airbase and a command centre. US President Donald Trump had earlier warned that Iran would face a strong military response. Trump said the United States would hit Iran “very hard” after the attack, despite reports that US forces had intercepted the missiles. The latest developments have raised fears of a wider regional conflict. Military activity has also been reported across southern Iran. Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported explosions in Bushehr province, home to the country’s only nuclear power plant. Several explosions were also reported on Qeshm Island. Iranian media said a missile may have struck a residential area, although details about casualties were not immediately available. Other explosions were reported at several locations in southern Iran following the launch of the US operation. The conflict has also intensified around Iraq. Baghdad condemned US and Saudi strikes that reportedly killed members of Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces. The group said at least 20 of its fighters were killed and 32 others were wounded. Iranian media separately reported that four Iranian advisers were killed in the strikes. The situation around the Strait of Hormuz has also become increasingly tense. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said its naval forces targeted three oil tankers that were allegedly approaching the strategic waterway using routes not approved by Tehran. Iran has rejected an Omani proposal concerning shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has also discussed imposing charges on vessels using the strategically important passage. Iranian officials have insisted that mine-clearing operations in the waterway should be carried out by Iranian forces. Tehran has warned that any European involvement could turn those forces into potential targets. The latest escalation comes only days after Trump said Washington was holding what he described as positive talks with Iran. He had also warned that military action could resume if Tehran failed to show seriousness in negotiations. Analysts have warned that continued retaliation could create a dangerous cycle of escalation. They say repeated strikes could eventually expand beyond military targets and increase the risk to civilians and critical infrastructure.

Known for his strong screen presence, expressive performances and ability to take on a wide range of characters, the actor continues to impress audiences with his work. He is currently receiving praise for his portrayal of Tabish in the drama Aap Ki Izzat, a character that has generated considerable discussion among viewers.   In a recent interview with Maliha Rehman, Ahsan Khan opened up about his character and shared an unexpected insight into whether people like Tabish exist in real life.   During the conversation, Ahsan was asked if he personally knew anyone who behaved like Tabish. The actor gave a surprising response, revealing that he has come across people in real life whose actions closely resemble those of his character.   According to Ahsan, such individuals are not limited to men. He explained that while the number of men he knows who have behaved in this way is higher, he also personally knows two women whose experiences were remarkably similar to Tabish’s story.   Ahsan explained that these women had reportedly betrayed their families and left their homes and spouses. However, after some time, they eventually returned to their previous families and relationships. His revelation highlighted that complicated relationship situations and infidelity are not exclusively associated with one gender.   The actor acknowledged that women often face greater social pressure and judgment when it comes to relationships and family matters. He agreed that society can be considerably harsher toward women, particularly when they make decisions that challenge traditional expectations.   However, Ahsan also stressed that this does not mean women are incapable of making mistakes or hurting their families. In his view, both men and women can make choices that have serious consequences for their loved ones.   His comments offered an interesting perspective on the character of Tabish and the realities that can sometimes exist behind complicated family relationships. Rather than viewing the character’s actions as something completely fictional, Ahsan suggested that similar situations can be found in real life.   The actor’s revelation has added another layer of interest to his performance in Aap Ki Izzat. His portrayal of Tabish has already sparked conversations among viewers because of the character’s complicated personality and controversial decisions.   Ahsan’s comments also reflect the broader themes explored through the drama, including relationships, betrayal, family responsibilities and the consequences of personal choices. By sharing experiences he has witnessed in real life, the actor gave viewers a glimpse into how his understanding of people and relationships may influence the way he approaches complex characters. With his performance as Tabish continuing to attract attention, Ahsan Khan’s candid revelation has given fans another reason to discuss the character and the situations surrounding him.

Pakistan taps global banks for $2bn bond plan to s…

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has taken a major step toward raising at least $2 billion from international capital markets during the 2026-27 fiscal year by appointing leading global financial institutions to manage its upcoming sovereign bond issuances. After completing a competitive selection process under the Requests for Proposals (RFPs), the government finalized three separate banking consortiums to advise and arrange conventional Eurobonds, International Sukuk, and Pakistani rupee-denominated, US dollar-settled bonds. The move is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to diversify external financing sources and strengthen long-term access to global capital markets. For the Eurobond programme, the selected consortium comprises Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank, Deutsche Bank AG, Emirates NBD Capital, and MUFG Securities Asia Limited. The International Sukuk consortium includes Standard Chartered Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank PJSC, Citibank, Emirates NBD Capital, and Mashreq Bank PSC. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank, and Deutsche Bank AG will oversee the issuance of PKR-denominated bonds settled in US dollars. Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb formally launched the government’s partnership with the selected institutions during a virtual meeting held from Washington, D.C. The discussions focused on implementing Pakistan’s Global Medium-Term Note (GMTN) Programme and International Sukuk Programme, which are expected to support the country’s future borrowing plans. According to the Finance Ministry, the sovereign capital market programme will include both conventional and Islamic financing instruments. Once all regulatory requirements and documentation are completed, Pakistan plans to make regular international bond issuances whenever financing needs arise, rather than treating the initiative as a one-time exercise. Officials said the strategy is designed to establish a more stable, diversified, and sustainable external financing framework. The inclusion of MUFG Securities Asia Limited and Mashreq Bank in the banking consortiums is also expected to expand Pakistan’s engagement with a wider network of leading international financial institutions, enhancing investor confidence and broadening access to global markets.
