Midsummer! reimagines Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy for modern audiences while preserving the heart of the original story. The 90-minute production will first be performed at Pittsburgh’s Trust Arts Education Center on July 31 and August 1 before traveling to Scotland for the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.     Two tribal elders killed in South Waziristan

    Two tribal elders were shot dead by unidentified armed men in the Zarmilan area of Toi Khulla tehsil in Lower South Waziristan on Sunday, according to police District Police Officer (DPO) Shah Hassan identified the victims as Haji Gul and Malik Badshah, both members of the Suleman Khel tribe. Police said the two elders were travelling from Gul Kach towards Zarmilan when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle near Darozanda. Both men sustained multiple bullet wounds and died at the scene, while the attackers escaped. Police registered a preliminary case at Toi Khulla police station and launched an investigation. DPO Hassan said officers were examining all possible aspects of the incident and working to identify and arrest the suspects. The killings come amid growing concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Lower South Waziristan. The district has witnessed a rise in targeted killings, bomb attacks, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and attacks on police and security personnel over the past 18 months. Tribal elders and their relatives have increasingly become targets of violence. The trend has raised concerns about the safety of influential tribal figures, who have traditionally helped resolve disputes and maintain peace through jirgas and other local mechanisms. In May, prominent tribal elder and chief of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe, Malik Tariq Wazir, was among three people killed in an IED blast near Gulshan Plaza in Wana’s busy Rustam Bazaar. Four others suffered injuries in the explosion. Police said explosives had allegedly been planted near the plaza overnight and detonated in the morning as Malik Tariq passed through the market in a vehicle. He was considered an influential figure who played an active role in tribal jirgas and local dispute resolution. He had also been abducted by armed men in December 2024 but was later released following efforts by tribal elders and local mediators. In another incident in June 2026, unidentified gunmen killed two sons of prominent tribal elder Malik Jamil Wazir near Kari Kot Bazaar in Wana tehsil. The brothers were identified as Naveed Wazir and Moeenuddin Wazir.

Only two other athletes crossed the 80-metre line, South Africa’s Douw Smit, who reached 80.64 metres, and England’s Benjamin East, who managed 80.38 metres. India’s Neeraj Chopra, who has long been Arshad’s fiercest competitor, also booked his spot in the final. He started with a throw of 76.28 metres, then pushed further to 79.61 metres on his second attempt to confirm qualification. India actually secured three finalists in total. Rohit Yadav joined Chopra after throwing a best of 78.37 metres, while Yashveer Singh kept improving across his attempts and eventually settled for 78.36 metres. It was not such good news for Pakistan’s other entrant, Muhammad Yasir Sultan. He fouled his first throw, then followed up with attempts of 71.42 and 74.36 metres. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to carry him into the final. Friday’s javelin final is scheduled for 7:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time. Pakistan has a long history at the Commonwealth Games, having first competed back in 1954. Since then, the country has amassed 82 medals overall, including 27 gold, 27 silver, and 28 bronze. Its most successful campaign in recent memory came at the 2022 Birmingham Games. A 68-member Pakistani contingent took part across 12 sports and ultimately finished 18th in the medal table with eight medals. That edition also marked one of Arshad’s finest moments. He won javelin gold with a Games record throw of 90.18 metres, delivering Pakistan’s first athletics gold at the Commonwealth Games since 1962.
