smart uses leftover

Smart uses for leftover cooking oil

After frying puris pakoras, or other foods leftover oil is often thrown away. If the oil has been heated many times it may no longer be safe for cooking, especially if its color smell or taste has changed.

Instead of wasting it you can use old cooking oil for some simple household tasks.

Remove sticky stickers

A few drops of oil can help loosen stubborn stickers and labels from plastic glass or steel items. Apply a little oil to the sticker leave it for a few minutes and then gently peel it off.

Loosen rusty nuts and bolts

If a rusty nut or bolt is stuck put a few drops of leftover oil around the joint. Wait for a while and then try to loosen it.  The oil can reduce friction and make the job easier.

Add shine to wooden furniture

You can use a small amount of oil to give old wooden furniture a fresh look. Put a little oil on a soft cloth gently rub the wood and then wipe it with a clean dry cloth.

Always test the oil on a small hidden area first to make sure it does not damage the wood.

Polish leather items

Leftover oil can sometimes be used to add shine to leather shoes bags or decorative items.  Apply only a very small amount and wipe it gently.

However, not all types of leather react well to oil, so test it on a hidden spot first.

Stop squeaky doors and windows

If a door or window makes a squeaky sound put a few drops of oil on its hinges.  This can reduce friction and help make the noise quieter.

Store leftover oil safely

Before using leftover oil for household tasks strain it to remove food particles. Store it in a clean dry airtight jar. Do not use the oil if it smells bad becomes very dark or shows any unusual changes. It is also better to avoid repeatedly using the same oil for cooking or frying.

    Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “Mont Blanc”

In Romantic-era poetry, Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “Mont Blanc: Lines Written in the Vale of Chamouni” (1816) stands as the ultimate meditation on the romantic sublime. He wrote it during the second generation of English Romanticism alongside Lord Byron and John Keat.  Shelley used the terrifying scale of the Alpine peak to launch questions about perception, human consciousness and the unseen forces governing the cosmos. While early Romantics like William Wordsworth often found moral harmony and divine comfort in nature, Shelley’s philosophical temperament brought a different energy. For Shelley, nature was not a benevolent mother figure, but an indifferent, boundless, and overwhelming energy. Shelley engages directly with the concept of the Sublime. The sublime is an aesthetic experience where vastness or power induces a feeling of terrifying awe. It makes the human observer feel physically insignificant while mentally elevated. Rather than finding traditional religious comfort in the mountain’s height, Shelley explores his philosophical atheism. He views Mont Blanc as a symbol of Necessity or an impersonal power that governs existence. Throughout the five-part poem, Shelley constructs a series of striking visual and philosophical wonders. Shelley opens the poem by comparing human thought to a river flowing through a ravine. The “everlasting universe of things” rolls through human perception. Human consciousness is both passive (receiving impressions from the grand landscape) and active (shaping those impressions into meaning). The everlasting universe of things Flows through the mind, and rolls its rapid waves… Looking up at Mont Blanc, Shelley does not describe a peaceful picture-postcard landscape. Rather, he depicts a wild, chaotic realm of ice, rock, and storm. He envisions the mountain as a primordial arena where “the old Earthquake-daemon taught her young / Ruin”. The glaciers are slow-moving “frozen floods” that flatten forests and rocks with silent force. Shelley reflects on what lessons this silent mountain holds for humanity. The mountain possesses a mysterious tongue that teaches a lesson. To Shelley, Mont Blanc speaks an unspoken truth that can repeal large codes of fraud and woe (i.e., tyrannical dogmas, religious orthodoxies, and political oppression). Nature’s unyielding reality strips away human pretense. The poem reaches its dramatic climax by returning to the relationship between the peak and human thought. Shelley notes that the mountain remains still, snowy, and serene high above human affairs. He closes with a famous philosophical question: And what were thou, and earth, and stars, and sea, If to the human mind’s imaginings Silence and solitude were vacancy?  The mountain’s grandeur is real, but its meaning exists because the human imagination is there to perceive it. Without the human mind to process wonder, the immense universe would merely be an empty void.

Hani Rasheed Through the pages of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to highlight the importance of freedom in our society. Freedom is not a luxury or a favour; it is a basic right of every human being. People deserve the freedom to express their opinions, choose their future and live with dignity. Unfortunately, many people still face restrictions, fear and injustice when they raise their voices. When freedom is suppressed, society loses hope and progress comes to a standstill. A nation cannot truly develop if its people are afraid to speak the truth. The government and society must protect the rights and freedom of citizens. Freedom should be used responsibly, but no one should be silenced through injustice or fear. It is time to understand that protecting freedom means protecting the future of our nation. I hope your newspaper will highlight this important issue and encourage the authorities to protect the fundamental rights of the people

  • Easy tips for dark circles

Dark circles under the eyes are common and can appear for many reasons including lack of sleep and tiredness. They can make the face look dull but they are not always caused by poor sleep. Lifestyle habits aging allergies and genetics can also play a role. Getting enough sleep every night is one of the most important steps.  Resting well may help reduce the appearance of dark circles especially if they are caused by fatigue. If dark circles remain even after getting enough sleep you can try a few simple home remedies. Cucumber slices Place chilled cucumber slices over your closed eyes for a few minutes.  The cool feeling may help soothe tired eyes and reduce puffiness for a short time. Some people also use potato slices for dark circles. While they are a popular home remedy there is limited scientific evidence that they provide long term results. Robot phone launch date announced for August 12

Beijing – A Chinese company is set to introduce what is being described as the world’s first robot phone and its unique feature is likely to surprise many people. Robots are gradually becoming part of everyday human life and now a Chinese company has announced the launch of its first robot phone. According to foreign media reports, the company will launch the phone in China on August 12. Its most distinctive feature is its camera which is not fixed like the camera on a conventional smartphone. The phone features a unique robotic camera system that can rotate while recording videos offering movements similar to those of a professional camera. In addition, a special camera module is installed on the top of the phone. It can pop out when needed and rotate in different directions. The phone’s camera system does more than simply move. It also uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically track a person or object in front of it. Similarly, if someone is walking or recording a video, the camera can automatically follow their movements. This can make video recording smoother and give the footage a more cinematic appearance. The Chinese company has confirmed that the robot phone will feature a triple rear-camera setup. Its primary camera will have a resolution of 200 megapixels. This means the phone will not only be capable of taking high-resolution photos but will also be able to capture better images of objects from a distance.

  • Not all green foods are healthy

Vegetables and fruits are generally considered an important part of a healthy diet.  Health experts also recommend including them in a balanced meal. However not everything that is green is automatically good for everyone. Some raw undercooked artificial or  rich green foods may cause health problems in  certain people. People with weak immune systems may be more sensitive to some foods and could experience allergies food reactions or other health problems. Green potatoes some green seafood products and foods with artificial green coloring are examples that may require extra care. Some people can also develop an allergy or intolerance to certain green foods. For example spinach may cause skin rashes or other allergic symptoms in sensitive individuals. In rare and serious cases a food allergy can lead to a dangerous reaction called anaphylaxis. Anyone who notices allergy symptoms after eating a particular food should seek medical advice. People with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) may also need to be careful with certain green vegetables.  Foods such as cabbage broccoli and Brussels sprouts can cause gas bloating stomach discomfort and pain in some people. People with kidney problems should also pay attention to their food choices. Spinach and Swiss chard contain high amounts of potassium. Eating too much of these foods may be risky for people with advanced kidney disease because their kidneys may have difficulty removing extra potassium from the body. This can lead to an unhealthy electrolyte balance. Eating too much of any food can cause problems and green foods are no exception. Large amounts of raw vegetables may cause bloating, constipation stomach pain or digestive discomfort in some people. In certain cases excessive intake of particular foods may also increase the risk of kidney stones electrolyte problems low blood sugar or allergic reactions. Some green fruits and vegetables may also cause digestive problems when eaten raw.  For example raw bananas and papaya may cause gas or stomach discomfort in some people. People who take warfarin a blood thinning medicine also known by the brand name Coumadin should talk to their doctor about eating large amounts of green leafy vegetables. These vegetables are often high in vitamin K, which can affect how warfarin works. The important thing is usually to keep vitamin K intake consistent rather than suddenly changing the amount. Spinach, Swiss chard and beetroot are also high in oxalates.  For some people who are prone to kidney stones, eating large amounts of these foods may increase the chance of developing stones again. Raw or lightly cooked green vegetables can provide many nutrients but they can sometimes be difficult to digest.  Vegetables such as cabbage broccoli and Brussels sprouts contain fiber that may cause digestive discomfort in some people especially when eaten in large amounts. Green potatoes are another important exception. When a potato turns green it may contain higher levels of a natural chemical called solanine.  Eating a large amount of solanine can cause nausea, vomiting, and in severe cases nervous system problems. Green potatoes should therefore be handled with care. Green tea is also not completely harmless in every situation. Poor quality green tea may contain unwanted impurities or low quality ingredients. Drinking very strong or very hot green tea may cause stomach discomfort in some people. Green tea also contains caffeine and too much caffeine can lead to nervousness shaking sleep problems or other side effects. Artificially green foods are not necessarily healthy either. Green colored candies sweet drinks and other processed foods may contain large amounts of sugar and provide little nutritional value.  Eating these foods regularly can contribute to tooth damage high blood sugar and other health problems. The main point is that green color alone does not make a food healthy.  The type of food the amount eaten how it is prepared and a person’s health condition all matter. People with food allergies, IBS, kidney problems or those taking certain medicines should be especially careful and seek medical advice when needed.
