Pakistan’s UN envoy hits back at India in Se…

Pakistan’s Counsellor at the United Nations, Saima Saleem, strongly criticised India during a meeting of the UN Security Council. She accused New Delhi of violating international law, ignoring UN Security Council resolutions and pursuing policies that threaten regional peace and stability. In her address, Saleem said it was contradictory for India to present itself as a supporter of peace while, according to Pakistan, it continues to violate international law and fail to implement UN Security Council resolutions related to the Kashmir dispute. She also alleged that India has pursued aggressive policies toward neighbouring countries and has been involved in activities that undermine regional security. The Pakistani diplomat highlighted what she described as a clear difference between the situations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She said people in AJK enjoy political freedoms, while residents of IIOJK continue to face restrictions, arrests and alleged human rights violations. Saleem said the denial of basic rights in the disputed territory cannot be ignored. She stressed that political freedom and the suppression of civil liberties cannot be viewed as the same. According to her, the people of Jammu and Kashmir continue to possess an inalienable right to self-determination under relevant UN resolutions. She further stated that Jammu and Kashmir is not an integral part of India and cannot be treated solely as its internal matter. She said India’s position does not change the internationally recognised status of the dispute and called for implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The Pakistani representative also said that India had originally taken the Kashmir issue to the United Nations and is now distancing itself from the resolutions adopted by the Security Council. She maintained that the dispute remains on the UN agenda and requires a peaceful resolution in accordance with international law. Referring to the Indus Waters Treaty, Saleem criticised India’s decision to suspend the agreement. She said the move violates international legal obligations and warned that water should never be used as a political or military tool. She described the Indus River system as a lifeline for millions of people and stressed that international agreements must be respected. She also alleged that terrorism networks linked to India have expanded beyond the region. In addition, she claimed that the rise of Hindutva ideology has contributed to increasing Islamophobia in India and accused the Indian government of promoting discriminatory policies against Muslims.

Isha Rikhi’s emotional Instagram note sparks online speculation

Actor Isha Rikhi, wife of rapper Badshah, has shared an emotional message on social media that has sparked concern among fans and fueled speculation about her relationship with the singer. On Monday, Rikhi posted a heartfelt note on Instagram, speaking about fear, silence and finding the courage to speak up. While she did not reveal specific details or explain the circumstances behind her message, the post quickly drew widespread attention online. In her statement, Rikhi wrote that some battles leave no visible scars and admitted she had stayed silent for a long time because she was afraid. She said she felt overwhelmed by what she believed to be her husband’s influence, power and resources, adding that she convinced herself remaining quiet was the safest choice. She further explained that her silence should not be mistaken for acceptance, describing it instead as a means of survival. Rikhi said she is now choosing courage over fear and, although she is not yet ready to share the full story, she no longer wants to pretend that everything is fine. The emotional message has led to intense discussion across social media platforms, with many fans expressing concern for the actor and wondering whether the post hints at difficulties in her marriage. However, neither Rikhi nor Badshah has issued any additional statement to clarify the situation. The latest post comes only a few days after Rikhi shared an emotional video montage featuring memorable moments with Badshah. The video included personal clips from their time together as well as scenes from their intimate wedding ceremony. Accompanying the montage was a brief yet emotional caption that read, “Every storm is a lesson. Every prayer is hope,” followed by a broken-heart emoji. The post immediately caught the attention of fans, many of whom began speculating that the couple could be going through a difficult phase. The couple tied the knot earlier this year in a private ceremony attended by close family and friends. They chose to keep both their relationship and wedding away from the public spotlight, making very few public appearances together. News of their marriage first surfaced after wedding videos were shared online by Rikhi’s mother. The actor later confirmed the marriage during an interactive Instagram question-and-answer session with her followers. Despite growing online speculation, there has been no official confirmation regarding any issues between the couple. Rikhi’s latest statement does not directly accuse anyone or provide details about the experiences she referred to, leaving the meaning of her message open to interpretation. Until either Rikhi or Badshah offers further clarification, the exact context behind the emotional post remains unknown. For now, fans continue to react to the actor’s words, with many sending messages of support while others wait for more information about the couple’s relationship.

Shehzad Roy and Tabish Hashmi to tour US for Zindagi Trust

Singer, activist and philanthropist Shehzad Roy is heading to the United States next month, and this time he is bringing comedian and actor Tabish Hashmi along for the journey. The two have announced Zindagi Trust’s annual fundraising dinner tour, scheduled to take place across six American cities between September 18 and 25, with the aim of rallying support from the Pakistani diaspora for one of the country’s most pressing challenges: quality public education. Roy shared the announcement through a video posted on his Instagram account, speaking with the urgency and conviction that has come to define his advocacy work over many years. He was direct about what the tour was trying to achieve and why the Pakistani diaspora’s involvement matters. “That time is not far when people in Pakistan won’t have to beg for education, and parents will be able to send their children to government schools with confidence, knowing they will learn from the best local teachers,” Roy said. He also emphasised the structural reforms he believes are essential to getting there. “We also need proper licensing and qualifications for teachers,” he added. Speaking about the tour itself and what it would offer those who attend, Roy described it as an opportunity for supporters to understand the full picture of what Zindagi Trust has been doing on the ground. “We are coming to share how the organisation is changing the paradigm for government schools and government teachers,” he said. His invitation to the diaspora was direct and personal. “We will share everything that has been accomplished, what still needs to be done, and how each of you can play an integral part in this cause. So please be there,” he said. Roy also explained his decision to bring Hashmi along as a companion for the tour, offering what is clearly both a personal and strategic reason. “He is a great entertainer and will bring happiness into your lives. The reason I am bringing him is because he truly believes in our cause,” he said. The combination of Roy’s advocacy record and Hashmi’s ability to connect with audiences through humour and warmth suggests an event format designed to be as engaging as it is purposeful. The tour will take in Chicago, New Jersey, Washington, Dallas, Houston and San Francisco, covering a significant spread of cities with large Pakistani diaspora communities. Zindagi Trust was founded by Roy with the mission of transforming Pakistan’s public school system, improving access to quality education for children who would otherwise have no alternative, and raising the professional standing of government school teachers across the country. Over the years, Roy has remained one of Pakistan’s most persistent and credible voices on children’s rights and education reform, using his platform as an artist to keep the conversation alive in ways that formal advocacy alone rarely manages. The American tour represents an effort to extend that conversation beyond Pakistan’s borders and bring those who have left the country into a direct relationship with the work being done on the ground. For the communities in those six cities, September’s fundraising dinners will offer both an evening of entertainment and a meaningful opportunity to contribute to something real.

Spirit controversy deepens over Deepika Padukone’s exit

The controversy surrounding Spirit has gained fresh attention following new claims made by Pranay Reddy Vanga, brother of filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, regarding the discussions that took place before Deepika Padukone’s departure from the Prabhas-led film. Pranay recently addressed the matter in an interview, offering his version of the events surrounding Deepika’s exit. According to him, the disagreement was not limited to one issue but involved several factors, including remuneration, scheduling and other matters that emerged during discussions between the actress and the production team. He claimed that Sandeep Reddy Vanga had been in talks with Deepika for nearly 18 months and had strongly wanted her to be part of the project. However, after discussions between both sides, the filmmakers eventually decided to move forward with another actress. Pranay also alleged that remuneration became an important part of the negotiations. He claimed that Deepika had sought a percentage of the film’s profits as part of her deal, saying that she had demanded a 10 percent share in the movie’s profits. According to him, the financial implications of the request were considered before the team decided to explore other casting options. The filmmaker’s brother also spoke about the issue of confidentiality surrounding the project. He claimed that the story and character had been discussed with Deepika during the development stage but alleged that details from those private conversations later became public. His remarks added another dimension to the controversy, particularly because the film’s casting discussions had already attracted considerable attention. Another major point linked to Deepika’s departure was reportedly her working schedule. Earlier reports suggested that the actress had requested an eight-hour working shift for the project. The issue became part of the wider discussion surrounding working conditions and schedules in the Indian film industry. Deepika had previously defended her position on professional working hours, making it clear that she did not believe her expectations were unreasonable. Her comments further fueled conversations about the demands placed on actors and the importance of maintaining healthy working conditions during film productions. The controversy intensified further after Sandeep Reddy Vanga appeared to respond to the situation through a social media post. Although he did not directly name Deepika, the filmmaker expressed disappointment over confidential conversations between filmmakers and actors being made public. Sandeep emphasized the trust involved when he narrates a story to an actor and referred to an “unsaid NDA” between them. His comments were widely interpreted as a reference to the discussions surrounding Spirit and the information that had emerged following Deepika’s exit. Following her departure, Triptii Dimri was brought on board as the female lead opposite Prabhas. Her inclusion officially marked a major change in the film’s casting and shifted attention toward the new pairing. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit remains one of the most anticipated upcoming Indian films, with Prabhas in the lead role and Triptii Dimri as the female protagonist. The film is currently scheduled for release in March 2027. The developments surrounding Deepika’s exit have continued to generate discussion among cinema audiences, with the reported disagreements over remuneration, scheduling and confidentiality adding further interest to the project even before its release.

‘I’ll lead from the front’: Sohail Afridi vo…

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced a major march towards Islamabad on September 27, saying he will personally lead the protest demanding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. Addressing a public gathering in Bannu on Sunday, Afridi urged supporters not to be afraid and said more than two million people would take part in the planned demonstration. “I will be at the front of the march for Imran Khan’s release,” Afridi said, assuring supporters that he would stand with them throughout the protest. He called on people to remain determined and claimed that a large turnout would make it difficult for authorities to stop the protesters. He also said that those who use oppression are often afraid when confronted by a large public movement. The chief minister also criticised the federal government, alleging that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had repeatedly been used as “scapegoats” in the past. He accused the authorities of treating the province as an experimental ground and said his administration was independent in making decisions. Speaking about law and order, Afridi said maintaining peace was a shared responsibility. He assured police personnel that his government stood firmly behind them and was providing funds for modern weapons and improvements to police infrastructure. Afridi also compared the current security situation with the period between 2018 and 2022, when Imran Khan was prime minister. He claimed that there had been peace and stability across the region during that period and said terrorism had not been a major threat. According to Afridi, violence and terrorism have returned to the province, with southern districts, particularly Bannu, among the worst affected areas. He held the federal government and those he alleged were responsible for bringing it to power accountable for the deteriorating security situation.
