James Haven comes out as gay after marriage annulment

James Haven, the older brother of Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, has publicly shared that he is gay following the end of his marriage to Romi Imbelli.

Haven revealed his sexuality during a live broadcast that appeared on Imbelli’s Substack platform. During the conversation, he also announced the launch of his upcoming weekly podcast, Save Haven with James Haven, where he plans to speak with guests about the defining moments, personal decisions, and life experiences that have shaped their identities.

Speaking openly about his journey, Haven explained that he came out to Imbelli after their marriage was annulled in March 2025. The couple had tied the knot in August 2024, but their relationship ended only 15 days after the wedding.

Reflecting on his childhood, Haven shared that he had always felt different but did not have the words to explain those feelings at the time. He recalled being fascinated by Disney princesses from a very young age, saying the characters helped him connect with a part of himself that he could not yet understand.

He emphasized that his interest was never about pretending to be someone else. Instead, he described it as allowing his authentic personality to shine through. According to Haven, publicly acknowledging his sexuality is not about changing who he is but about letting others see the person he has always been.

The actor and producer also expressed hope that his family and those close to him would respond with compassion and understanding. He said he wished people would choose love over fear and focus on their personal connection with him rather than labels or assumptions. Haven added that he remains the same individual, with the same personality and heart, despite sharing this deeply personal part of his life.

During the livestream, Romi Imbelli voiced her support for Haven and admitted that she had long suspected he was gay. She explained that accepting the reality of the situation was emotionally difficult because she feared it would mean losing the relationship they had built together.

Imbelli said she wanted to continue loving and supporting Haven while also coming to terms with the truth. She acknowledged that balancing those emotions had been challenging but ultimately believed honesty was the best path forward.

Despite the end of their marriage, Imbelli described Haven as her lifelong partner in a different sense, saying they would continue to support one another through life. She expressed affection for him and said his sexual orientation did not change the love and respect she had for him as a person.

Haven and Imbelli were married in a private ceremony in Laguna Beach, California, in August 2024. The intimate event was attended by close family members, including Haven’s father, actor Jon Voight. However, his sister, Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, was reportedly not present at the ceremony.

By publicly sharing his story, Haven hopes his experience will encourage greater understanding, acceptance, and compassion for others who are navigating similar personal journeys.

The two officials were advised to exercise greater care in carrying out their duties and ensure that similar incidents did not happen again. The controversy emerged after images and videos of the officials travelling in the ceremonial buggy during the Independence Day event circulated widely on social media, drawing criticism from the public. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi subsequently defended the officials, saying they were not responsible for the decision to use the buggy. He explained that the vehicle had originally been arranged for the chief guest, while he and the chief guest were delayed because of a meeting involving the president and prime minister. Naqvi said the two officials had initially been reluctant to begin the programme in the absence of the chief guest and the minister but were instructed to proceed to avoid inconvenience to the public. Despite the clarification, the incident continued to attract attention, ultimately leading to the formal advisory from the Establishment Division.

    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Washington has control over Iran’s financial resources as the conflict between the United States and Iran continues. In an interview, Trump said the US was effectively acting as a banker for Iran. He claimed Washington had control over a large amount of Iranian money. Trump also described Iran’s economic situation as extremely difficult. He alleged that the country was facing very high inflation and that its currency had lost much of its value. The US president further claimed that Iran was struggling to pay its soldiers and suggested that the economic pressure could become increasingly difficult for Tehran to sustain. Trump outlined several possible approaches toward Iran. He said Washington could maintain the current economic pressure, launch further military action or rely more heavily on financial measures. He said his main objective in the conflict was to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Trump also claimed that US military action had stopped Tehran from obtaining such a capability. Qatar urges reopening of Strait of Hormuz Meanwhile, Qatar said talks between Iran and Oman on arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz had reached an advanced stage. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said the negotiations had reached a critical point. He expressed hope that the strategically important waterway would reopen as soon as possible. Qatar said it supports diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and resolving the dispute. Iran and Oman have been discussing legal and technical arrangements for the resumption of maritime traffic through the strait. Shipping activity in the area has been disrupted following the military confrontation between Iran and the United States. He claimed that the change demonstrated Iran’s ability to withstand military and political pressure. Araghchi also said Iran had surprised countries around the world by resisting the United States. The Iranian foreign minister said Washington had support from Israel and several Western countries during the conflict. According to Iranian state media, Araghchi told his German counterpart that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz was the result of US and Israeli military actions against Iran. He briefed Wadephul on Iran’s discussions with Oman regarding the creation of a safe route for maritime traffic through the strategic waterway. The two officials also discussed bilateral relations and wider regional and international developments. Araghchi called on the international community to hold Washington accountable for what he described as the security and economic consequences of the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz. He maintained that lasting security in the waterway would require an end to what Tehran considers US military aggression, maritime restrictions and violations of previous commitments.

    US prosecutors have dropped vandalism charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn after concluding that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was caused by construction problems rather than deliberate acts. The decision marks a major reversal by the Trump administration, which had earlier blamed the damage on vandals and publicly accused several people of harming the landmark. Court documents filed on Friday stated that newly reviewed evidence showed the damage was most likely caused by a rushed and poorly executed installation carried out by contractors working on the renovation project. Prosecutors said the work was completed under pressure to finish before celebrations marking the United States’ 250th Independence anniversary. They also acknowledged they were not initially given complete information by the Department of the Interior about the condition of the pool. Hearn had been arrested last month after authorities accused him of damaging the pool by pulling away part of its newly applied blue coating. He had consistently denied the allegation, saying he only touched the surface while stopping near the memorial after a bicycle ride. If convicted, he could have faced up to ten years in prison. Following the dismissal of the case, Hearn’s lawyers criticised the government’s handling of the investigation. They said the charges should never have been filed and argued that their client had been wrongly accused despite having done nothing illegal. They also called on the administration to apologise for what they described as an abuse of government authority. Hearn declined to say whether he would pursue legal action over the case. The Reflecting Pool underwent a major restoration project earlier this year as part of President Donald Trump’s campaign to improve the appearance of Washington ahead of the national anniversary celebrations. The renovation included resealing and repainting the pool at a reported cost of around 16 million dollars. However, problems appeared soon after the work was completed as algae returned and sections of the new coating began peeling away. According to court records, Hearn was not the only person accused. At least three others were charged with vandalism and several more received citations after interacting with the pool. It is not yet clear whether all of those cases have also been dismissed. The court filing placed responsibility on the contractor and criticised officials from the Department of the Interior for failing to provide prosecutors with important information during the early stages of the investigation. Prosecutors said they were only made aware of the installation problems after reviewing additional documents. They acknowledged that if the department had shared the full details from the beginning, the case would never have been presented to a grand jury. The renovation project itself has also drawn scrutiny. Reports indicate the original budget was expected to be under two million dollars before costs rose significantly. The contract was reportedly awarded without the usual competitive bidding process, adding to criticism over how the project was managed. President Trump had previously described the damage as the work of “sick” and “deranged” vandals, claiming someone had cut a long gash into the surface of the pool. Prosecutors also initially argued that Hearn had intentionally damaged the memorial. Friday’s court filing directly contradicted those earlier claims, stating that the evidence now points to construction failures rather than criminal vandalism. The Reflecting Pool has since been drained for the second time in three months as repair work continues. The incident has raised fresh questions about oversight of the expensive renovation project and the government’s decision to pursue criminal charges before fully establishing the cause of the damage.
