Phuket Youth ‘Ne Ne’ Receives Prime Minister’s Backing to Shine on America’s Got Talent Stage

Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Surasak Phancharoenworakul, introduced rising star Rattikan Amlai, better known as Nene Royal, to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at Government House this morning. The meeting shows the government’s support for young Thai talent making waves internationally, while also tying her success to the promotion of the country’s tourism brand, Amazing Thailand.

 

During the warm and informal gathering at the Command Building, the Prime Minister congratulated Nene Royal on her achievements and presented her with an Amazing Thailand pin and souvenir set as encouragement ahead of her next international competition. The atmosphere turned musical when Anutin joined in singing “Som Sarn” by Thai rock band Loso, while Nene Royal performed “Zombie” by The Cranberries, accompanying herself on guitar.

 

Minister Surasak revealed that the initiative stemmed from the Prime Minister’s personal interest after watching a video of Nene Royal’s performance on July 8th while on duty in Malaysia. He immediately instructed the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), to provide concrete support. This includes covering travel expenses for her upcoming competition and coordinating promotional strategies to encourage international audiences, particularly in the United States, to vote for her.

 

“By showcasing Thai identity through phrases like Amazing Thailand and Phuket, Thailand on the global stage, Nene Royal has created a powerful impression among international audiences and judges. This not only elevates her personal profile but also strengthens Thailand’s tourism image worldwide,” Surasak stated.

The government stated its commitment to empowering youth as a driving force for national development and supporting role models who enhance Thailand’s reputation abroad.

Nene Royal expressed heartfelt gratitude for the encouragement from both the government and Thai fans, urging supporters to follow her journey and performances on social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram under the name Nene Royal. She is set to return to America soon for the next round of America’s Got Talent. Good luck to her!

    ISLAMABAD: Kuwait has congratulated Pakistan on the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, signalling growing regional interest in the new security arrangement. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah late on Sunday, during which the two officials discussed the agreement as well as the wider regional situation. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the Kuwaiti foreign minister felicitated Dar on the agreement signed in Makkah on Friday. The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the region, including the situation in occupied East Jerusalem. Their conversation also covered bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation between Pakistan and Kuwait, particularly in investment and other key sectors. The officials also discussed follow-up to Sheikh Jarrah’s recent visit to Pakistan. “The two sides agreed to remain closely engaged,” the Foreign Office said. The development comes as Pakistan continues to explain the objectives and scope of the landmark defence pact, which brings Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye closer together on security matters. Dar has stressed that the agreement is defensive in nature and is not directed against any particular country.     KARACHI: Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of cash from a private bank’s ATM on Aram Bagh Road. According to police officials, the suspects include the bank’s operations manager and one of his associates. The arrests were made during an investigation into the ATM robbery. Police said they recovered Rs29.74 million from the suspects. The recovered amount is believed to be part of the cash stolen from the ATM. Investigators said the suspects allegedly gained access to the ATM by opening its lock. They then attempted to prevent the security cameras from recording their activities. According to officials, the suspects placed chewing gum over the CCTV camera. This was allegedly done to obstruct the camera’s view and conceal the theft. Police said the suspects subsequently took around Rs53.7 million from the ATM. The involvement of the bank’s operations manager has emerged as a key development in the case. Investigators are examining how the suspects obtained access to the ATM and whether anyone else assisted them. Police are also reviewing available CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the sequence of events. The recovered cash has been taken into custody as the investigation continues. Authorities said further investigation would determine the exact role of each suspect and help identify any additional individuals who may have been involved in the theft.

He said that if the government were genuinely interested in negotiations, it would not have registered terrorism-related cases against opposition members. Yousafzai maintained that successful negotiations require a positive political environment, alleging that government actions have instead deepened tensions. He further claimed that meaningful talks would have included facilitating meetings between opposition leaders and jailed PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, adding that even family members have reportedly faced restrictions on meeting him.     Karachi crime remains high in July

    The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has released its latest crime statistics for Karachi, showing a significant number of killings, extortion cases, mobile-phone thefts and vehicle-related crimes during July. According to the CPLC data, 40 people lost their lives in different incidents across the city during the month. The figures also showed that extortion remained a concern, with 18 cases of bhata khori reported in July. Street crime continued to affect residents, particularly through mobile-phone and motorcycle theft. The CPLC recorded 1,846 mobile phones stolen across Karachi during the month, highlighting the continued risk faced by citizens while travelling or moving through public places. Vehicle-related offences also remained a major challenge. Criminals stole 110 vehicles in July, while 12 cars were snatched from citizens. The figures indicate that vehicle owners continued to face the threat of both theft and armed or forced snatching. Motorcycles accounted for the largest share of vehicle-related crime. The CPLC recorded 2,648 motorcycle thefts during July, while criminals snatched 492 motorcycles from citizens. The latest figures reflect the scale of crime reported across Karachi during the month, with motorcycles, mobile phones and vehicles remaining frequent targets. The data also highlights continued concerns over public safety, particularly in relation to street crime and property offences. The CPLC regularly compiles crime data from across the city to provide an overview of reported criminal activity. The July figures are likely to keep the focus on law-and-order conditions in Karachi and the need for stronger measures to protect citizens and their property.
