Who is Epstein’s potential heir?

Attention has shifted to Karyna Shuliak, the longtime girlfriend of convicted sex offender and disgraced US financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The development comes years after Epstein died in a federal prison in 2019. His death brought an end to his criminal case but left behind a complicated estate and several legal disputes.

Shuliak is now being described as a potential major beneficiary of Epstein’s remaining wealth.

According to court documents, Epstein signed a new will just two days before his death. The document created a private trust known as the 1953 Trust.

Recent court records reportedly show that Shuliak was included among the important beneficiaries of the trust. However, the exact amount she could receive remains uncertain.

US Department of Justice records reportedly indicate that Shuliak was the last person Epstein spoke to outside prison before his death. Reports also say that Epstein made some of his final telephone calls to her while he was in custody.

At the time of his death, Epstein’s estate was estimated to be worth around $600 million.

A significant portion of that wealth has since been used to compensate people who accused Epstein of sexual abuse. More than $170 million was reportedly paid to over 200 victims through compensation arrangements.

The estate has also faced several legal claims and settlements with government authorities. These matters have complicated the distribution of Epstein’s remaining assets.

After a recent tax refund, the value of the estate’s remaining assets is estimated at between $120 million and $150 million.

Despite being named as a potential beneficiary, Shuliak has not yet secured the inheritance. Payments connected to the trust remain suspended while legal proceedings continue.

Richard Kahn, the executor of Epstein’s estate, has reportedly raised concerns about the wording of the trust agreement. He described the document as unclear and poorly prepared.

The uncertainty has made it difficult to determine exactly how Epstein intended his remaining fortune to be divided.

Legal experts say Shuliak’s potential inheritance cannot be confirmed until outstanding claims and court proceedings are resolved.

Gold prices moved higher across Pakistan on Monday, tracking an upward trend in the international bullion market, according to the latest rates issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA). The price of 24-karat gold per tola increased by Rs1,700, taking the new rate to Rs428,436. The recovery comes after a sharp decline recorded in the previous trading session, when the precious metal had fallen by Rs3,700 per tola to settle at Rs426,736 on Saturday. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also witnessed an increase, climbing by Rs1,457 to reach Rs367,314 in local markets. In the international market, the price of gold gained $17 per ounce, pushing the bullion rate to $4,060 per ounce, including a premium of $20. The increase in global prices was mirrored in Pakistan’s local market, where gold rates are largely influenced by international trends and fluctuations in the value of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. Meanwhile, silver prices also registered a notable increase. The price of silver per tola rose by Rs54, reaching Rs6,291 in the domestic market.

Police trace Aamir Khan threat to foreign VPN

The investigation into the threatening message sent to Bollywood star Aamir Khan has taken a new turn after police reportedly traced the message to a Sweden-based virtual private network (VPN), while authorities continue efforts to identify the individual behind it. According to police sources, the threatening audio message, which was allegedly circulated in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was sent using technology designed to conceal the sender’s real location. Investigators believe the person responsible used both a VPN and the Tor browser, making it more difficult to determine their identity. Officials reportedly traced the initial IP address to Sweden, but suspect the location may have been masked through online privacy tools. Authorities are now working with digital evidence to establish the sender’s actual whereabouts and identity. The audio clip was allegedly sent after Aamir Khan’s recent marriage to Gauri Spratt. In the recording, the speaker, claiming to be Arzu Bishnoi, accused the actor of promoting what was described as “love jihad” and allegedly threatened to “teach Aamir Khan a lesson.” According to the report, the threat was accompanied by a social media post claiming to represent the Lawrence Bishnoi group. An excerpt from the alleged post read: “I, Aarzoo Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi (Lawrence Bishnoi Group), want to say that people like Aamir Khan are promoting what is being called ‘Love Jihad’ in our country, which is against our culture. We will not tolerate this man, and he will soon be made to face the consequences.” The message further claimed: “We promise our brothers, sisters, and fellow citizens that whoever promotes such disgraceful acts will be dealt with in our own way.” Police are treating the matter seriously because the threat referenced the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose name has previously surfaced in several high-profile cases involving public figures. However, investigators have not confirmed whether the threat has any genuine connection to Bishnoi’s criminal network. Authorities are now examining digital records, internet routing information and communication platforms used to send the audio clip. Investigators have also reportedly contacted relevant online platforms and international authorities as part of efforts to obtain additional technical information. The threatening message surfaced shortly after Aamir Khan married his longtime partner Gauri Spratt in a private registered ceremony held at his Mumbai residence on July 5. The marriage marked the actor’s third. He was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares children Junaid and Ira, before later marrying filmmaker Kiran Rao. Although Aamir and Kiran divorced in 2021, they have continued to collaborate professionally, including on the acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies. For now, police have not announced any arrests. Investigators continue analysing the digital trail behind the threatening message while attempting to determine whether the sender acted alone or as part of a larger operation. Officials say the use of VPN services and anonymity tools has made the investigation more complex, but efforts to identify the individual responsible remain ongoing.

Democratic support for Israel weakens as Gaza war deepens political divide in US

For decades, support for Israel was one of the few foreign policy issues that united both major political parties in the United States. That long standing consensus is now showing signs of breaking down as growing criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, the conflict with Iran and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s close relationship with Republican leaders reshape opinion within the Democratic Party. Public support for Israel among Democratic voters has fallen sharply in recent years. More Democratic candidates are openly criticizing Israeli government policies and several have built successful election campaigns around calls to reassess Washington’s military and diplomatic support for its longtime ally. The shift has become increasingly visible in Congress, where many lawmakers who once backed military assistance without question are now calling for restrictions or major changes. The change was highlighted this month when nearly half of House Democrats voted in favor of an amendment that sought to block military aid to Israel. Although the proposal ultimately failed, the level of support marked a significant departure from previous years when similar measures would have attracted little backing. Israel receives $3.8 billion in annual US military assistance and has also secured billions of dollars in additional emergency funding over the past several years. Democratic leaders remain divided over the issue. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries opposed the amendment, arguing that it was too broad. However, senior party figures including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark voted in support of it. The differing positions reflect an increasingly difficult debate within the party over whether military assistance should continue without conditions, be limited to defensive equipment or be suspended altogether. Senator Chris Coons, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, expressed hope that Israel’s upcoming elections could improve relations between the two allies. He suggested that new political leadership in Israel might help restore bipartisan support in Washington and move beyond the current period of tension. Coons also argued that Netanyahu has prolonged conflicts for political reasons, a claim that adds to the growing criticism from within the Democratic Party. Recent polling shows how public opinion has shifted. A Quinnipiac University survey conducted in June found that nearly half of all American voters believe the United States is too supportive of Israel. Among Democrats, that figure rose to 66 percent, a dramatic increase compared with the results recorded when the question was first asked in 2017. Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, dismissed concerns that bipartisan backing is disappearing. He said that despite intense political debate, support for Israel continues to remain strong across large sections of both major parties. The issue has become especially important in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary, where voters are choosing between candidates with sharply different positions on Israel. Representative Haley Stevens has defended close ties with Israel and argues that the relationship strengthens economic growth and national security. Her opponent, Abdul El-Sayed, has strongly criticized continued military support and says American resources should be invested at home rather than funding Israel’s military campaign. The debate follows nearly three years of conflict that began after Hamas launched its October 2023 attack on Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking hundreds hostage. Since then, Gaza health authorities say more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed during Israel’s military operations. Israel rejects accusations of genocide and maintains that it is fighting Hamas while taking measures to reduce civilian casualties. Political analysts say the war has significantly influenced younger Democratic voters, many of whom have become more critical of Israeli government policies. Campus protests and growing public demonstrations have increased pressure on Democratic leaders to reconsider traditional positions on military aid. Some observers also believe the issue contributed to divisions within the party during the 2024 presidential election campaign. The debate is spreading beyond Michigan into congressional races across states including New York, Florida and Colorado, where candidates are increasingly making Israel a central campaign issue. Progressive organizations argue that opposition is directed mainly at Netanyahu’s government rather than Israel itself, while more traditional pro-Israel groups continue to defend the alliance. Despite the growing disagreement, many Democratic lawmakers continue to support Israel’s right to exist and defend itself. However, an increasing number are questioning the policies of the current Israeli leadership and calling for greater humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, signaling that the party’s approach to one of America’s closest allies is undergoing a significant transformation.
