Eight-year-old girl allegedly raped in Gujranwala, public outraged

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to a brutal sexual assault by unidentified perpetrators in the Gujranwala area, triggering widespread grief and anger across Pakistan. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of children and the growing number of violent crimes being reported across the country. According to reports, the incident took place in Feroze Wala Kala Khatai Gol Pind near Gujranwala. The minor was allegedly taken to nearby fields, where she was sexually assaulted by multiple suspects. Her cries for help alerted local residents, who rushed towards the area and intervened. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify and arrest those responsible. The victim was later taken to a police station in critical condition. Reports said that she was in severe distress and was unable to sit comfortably following the alleged assault. The incident has also sparked criticism of the media after the child’s father appeared before news outlets while attempting to conceal his daughter’s face. Despite the family’s efforts to protect the minor’s identity, reports claimed that some media channels broadcast footage showing the child’s face without blurring it. The decision has drawn condemnation from members of the public and celebrities, who argued that protecting the privacy and dignity of a minor victim should be a basic responsibility of the media. Actress Amar Khan expressed her anger over the alleged assault as well as the media’s handling of the victim’s identity. She criticised the decision to broadcast the child’s unblurred face, calling attention to the ethical responsibilities of news organisations when reporting cases involving minors. Maya Khan also reacted emotionally to the incident, urging people to take action against such cruelty. She wrote, “Please do something before Allah reacts to this cruelty and punishes us.” Malik Aqeel was also among those who expressed grief over the disturbing case. The incident has prompted another wave of public outrage on social media, with many users demanding strict action against those responsible. Several commentators questioned whether parents can feel safe raising daughters when children continue to face such horrific violence. Some users called for stronger punishments for perpetrators of crimes against children, while others expressed frustration over what they described as repeated failures to protect vulnerable minors. Many social media users also tagged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, urging authorities to ensure a swift investigation and bring the suspects to justice. The alleged assault comes amid growing public concern over reports of rape, murder, kidnapping and other violent crimes across Pakistan. Recent cases involving children and other vulnerable victims have intensified demands for stronger law enforcement, better protection for minors and greater accountability. As the investigation continues, the public is awaiting concrete action against those responsible for the Gujranwala incident. The case has once again highlighted the urgent need to protect children from violence and ensure that victims are treated with dignity and privacy throughout the legal process.

SC orders Imran’s transfer to Shifa Hospital

The Supreme Court has directed authorities to transfer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for medical assessment and treatment. The order was issued by a three-member bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim were also part of the bench. The court was hearing petitions related to Imran’s medical treatment, access to his personal doctors and meetings with family members. The bench also ordered authorities to submit Imran’s complete medical record before the next hearing. Justice Waheed questioned why the court had been provided with only a summary instead of the full medical file. The judge said the court wanted the complete record to properly assess Imran’s health condition. The matter came under discussion after a medical report submitted by Adiala Jail authorities highlighted concerns about Imran’s health. Justice Waheed noted that the reports indicated abnormalities in his pulse and heart condition and suggested that his vital organs could be affected. The bench also discussed a recommendation for angiography. Justice Afghan asked whether the procedure could be performed inside the jail. The Islamabad advocate general told the court that angiography could be carried out at a hospital outside the prison. PTI lawyer Uzair Bhandari raised concerns about the cause of an alleged blood clot and requested access for Imran’s personal physicians. He sought permission for Dr Asim Yusuf and Dr Faisal Sultan to meet Imran. The court discussed the qualifications of the doctors proposed for the visit and noted that no formal challenge had been made to the doctors who had already examined the former premier. The court also addressed the issue of media statements following meetings with Imran. Bhandari assured the bench that family members and doctors would not speak to the media after meeting the PTI founder. The Islamabad advocate general said an earlier undertaking regarding media interactions had allegedly been breached. The matter is also pending before the Islamabad High Court. Senior PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja argued that responsibility should not automatically be placed on others if an undertaking had been violated. Justice Waheed warned that if contempt proceedings were initiated against officials for violating court directions, similar action could also be considered against lawyers or other individuals who breached court orders. The bench said the PTI and Imran’s family would have to provide an undertaking that no media briefing would take place after meetings. Justice Afghan also urged the PTI to avoid turning Imran’s medical condition into a political dispute. The court separately examined restrictions on meetings between Imran and his sisters. Justice Waheed said meeting family members was a fundamental right and should not be treated as a special favour. Authorities told the court that Imran had met his sisters 48 times during the past three years. The court ordered officials to submit complete details of all those meetings. It also sought records concerning Imran’s communication with his sons, including call detail records. The bench further directed authorities to provide comprehensive information about the cases against Imran. The court wants details of cases in which he is an under-trial prisoner, cases resulting in convictions and matters where sentences have been suspended. Adiala Jail officials were summoned to appear before the court at the next hearing. The court also questioned the implementation of Islamabad High Court directions concerning meetings with Imran. The Islamabad advocate general said the matter was pending before the high court in an intra-court appeal. The hearing was adjourned until after the summer vacation. Medical report submitted to court A two-page medical report submitted by the Adiala Jail superintendent provided details of Imran’s treatment and health monitoring during his imprisonment. The report said Imran had received treatment from ophthalmologists in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for central retinal vein occlusion, an eye condition diagnosed previously. According to the report, his affected eye had shown significant improvement and had almost returned to normal vision. The report also contained a summary of 39 medical examinations conducted by various specialists between November 4, 2023 and August 10, 2026. Several government doctors examined Imran during this period. Jail authorities said records of the consultations had been maintained. Medical officers at the jail also monitored his food and fluid intake three times a day and conducted regular health checks. The report stated that Imran and his wife had been meeting every Tuesday under jail rules. A total of 84 such meetings had reportedly taken place.

Rajab Butt reveals why he always shows off his wealth

Rajab Butt has become one of Pakistan’s most talked-about YouTubers and social media influencers, often attracting attention not only for his content but also for the controversies surrounding his personal and professional life. From public disputes and legal issues to discussions about his marriage, the social media personality frequently finds himself in the spotlight. While he has a large following, his outspoken personality and extravagant lifestyle have also made him a polarizing figure, with some fans strongly supporting him while others criticize his approach. In a recent interview with 24 Digital, Rajab Butt opened up about his latest controversies, public disagreements and the reasons behind his highly visible lifestyle. During the conversation, the YouTuber addressed a topic that has repeatedly sparked discussion online: his habit of openly displaying his wealth. Rajab Butt has often shared glimpses of his expensive purchases, luxurious lifestyle and business activities with his audience. He has also previously claimed that he has achieved billionaire status through his YouTube career and various business ventures. His claims and lifestyle have generated considerable discussion among social media users, with many questioning why he chooses to make so much of his financial success public. Explaining his perspective, Rajab Butt said that showing his wealth is closely connected to the nature of his work as a content creator. According to him, if he purchases something expensive, it naturally becomes part of the content he creates for his audience. He gave the example of buying a car worth Rs 5 crore, saying that if he spends such a huge amount on a vehicle, he would make a vlog about it rather than keeping the purchase completely private. For him, such moments are not simply personal experiences but also opportunities to create content and keep his viewers interested. Rajab further pointed out that content creators have increasingly turned everyday occasions into material for their videos. He noted that YouTubers can create content even from events such as birthday celebrations, suggesting that almost every aspect of a creator’s lifestyle can become part of their online presence. He explained that he follows the same approach. Since his career depends on producing engaging videos, he believes he has to make his content interesting enough to hold the audience’s attention. Sharing expensive purchases, cars and other aspects of his lifestyle is therefore part of the entertainment value he offers to his viewers. His comments provide an insight into how Rajab Butt views the relationship between his personal life and his career. Rather than treating his wealth as something that should always remain private, he considers it a source of content that can help attract viewers and generate interest. For Rajab Butt, displaying his wealth is ultimately connected to the demands of being a modern YouTuber. As social media continues to blur the line between private life and entertainment, he appears comfortable turning major personal milestones, purchases and lifestyle choices into content for his audience.

Cynthia Erivo pays sweet tribute to Ariana Grande …

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have once again reminded fans why their friendship remains one of the most beloved bonds to come out of Wicked. The longtime co-stars reunited onstage in London, creating an emotional moment that quickly became one of the highlights of Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour.  On August 16, Erivo surprised fans at London’s O2 Arena when she joined Grande during the second night of the singer’s London shows. The pair performed “For Good,” the emotional Wicked song that has become closely associated with their characters, Elphaba and Glinda. They also treated the audience to the “Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again” medley.  The reunion was especially meaningful because it marked their first live performance together since the 2025 television special Wicked: One Wonderful Night. Their return to the stage together brought back memories of their years working on the two Wicked movies and the friendship they developed away from the spotlight.  Erivo has previously spoken warmly about singing with Grande, describing her as one of the few people she genuinely loves performing alongside. She explained that she does not often want to sing with other people, but Grande is different because their voices and energy naturally complement one another.  That affection was clear during their London reunion. The two stars embraced onstage, while Grande was also seen kissing Erivo’s hand, adding another tender moment to the performance. Their chemistry once again reminded audiences of the special connection they built while bringing Elphaba and Glinda to life.  Their friendship has faced plenty of public speculation over the years. However, Erivo has repeatedly made it clear that their bond is genuine. In a 2026 interview, she discussed how people struggled to understand the closeness between two women and emphasized that deep, platonic female friendships are real.  The London reunion therefore felt like more than just another surprise concert appearance. It was a celebration of music, friendship and the lasting impact of Wicked. For fans who have followed Erivo and Grande since the beginning of their journey as Elphaba and Glinda, seeing them share the stage again was a particularly touching reminder that their connection continues long after the cameras stop rolling.

Hayden Panettiere’s Nashville costar feels shatt…

Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death at just 36 has left her former Nashville castmates and fans struggling to process the heartbreaking loss. Among those mourning is Sylvia Jefferies, who played Panettiere’s on-screen mother, Jolene Barnes, on the popular country music drama. Panettiere died on August 16, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina. Her representative confirmed the actress’s death, while authorities said she was found in cardiac arrest. An investigation into the exact cause of death remains ongoing.  For Jefferies, the loss has been particularly painful because her connection with Panettiere extended beyond their scenes together. The actress recently shared an emotional tribute, remembering her former co-star as someone she cared deeply about. Jefferies described Panettiere’s passing as devastating and reflected on the struggles the actress had faced throughout her life. She also remembered the special bond they developed while working together on Nashville, where their characters shared a complicated mother-and-daughter relationship. The tribute came as the Nashville family gathered online and in public statements to remember Panettiere. Her former co-stars have described her as talented, energetic, kind and unforgettable. Connie Britton, who played Rayna Jaymes, also expressed her heartbreak following the news, while other cast members shared their own memories of the actress.  Panettiere became a major part of Nashville through her role as Juliette Barnes, a gifted country singer whose personal struggles often mirrored some of the challenges Panettiere experienced away from the screen. Her performance earned her two Golden Globe nominations and made her one of the show’s most recognizable stars.  Beyond Nashville, Panettiere was widely known for playing Claire Bennet on Heroes and Kirby Reed in the Scream franchise. She began acting as a child and built a career that included television, film and music. Her final years were marked by difficult personal struggles, which she discussed openly in her memoir. Those who knew her have emphasized that her difficulties were only one part of her story and that she was also a loving, talented and determined person. Jefferies’ emotional tribute is a reminder of the impact Panettiere had on people around her. While audiences will remember Juliette Barnes, Claire Bennet and the many other characters she brought to life, her former colleagues remember the woman behind those roles. At only 36, Panettiere’s death has brought renewed attention to a career that began in childhood and ended far too soon. Her Nashville family is now left with memories of the actress who brought passion, vulnerability and unforgettable energy to the series.

Sir David Attenborough continues to mark milestone…

Sir David Attenborough’s 100th year is proving to be just as remarkable as the career that came before it. The legendary broadcaster and natural historian continues to receive major recognition for his contribution to television and his lifelong work inspiring people to care about the natural world. Attenborough turned 100 on May 8, 2026, reaching the extraordinary milestone after more than seven decades in broadcasting. Rather than slowing down, he has continued to work on new projects while celebrating a century of life filled with exploration, storytelling and environmental advocacy.  His latest recognition comes through two major television award nods. Attenborough has been nominated for a 2026 Primetime Emmy Award, making him the oldest-ever nominee in the history of the awards. He received the nomination for his work as a narrator, adding another remarkable achievement to an already impressive list of honours.  He has also received his first-ever nomination for the National Television Awards. Attenborough is shortlisted in the TV Presenter category alongside well-known names including Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman, Alison Hammond and Stacey Solomon. The winners will be announced at the NTA ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on September 8.  The recognition comes during an especially busy year for the broadcaster. Several projects have been released to celebrate his centenary, including Wild London, Secret Garden and A Gorilla Story. The latter sees Attenborough return to the story of gorillas he first encountered while filming Life on Earth in Rwanda decades ago.  His 100th birthday was also marked with a major celebration at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The BBC event brought together musicians, celebrities and environmental figures to honour his extraordinary contribution to television and natural history. Attenborough said he had expected to celebrate quietly but was overwhelmed by the enormous number of birthday messages he received.  Institutions around the world have also joined the celebrations. Kew Gardens praised his lifelong commitment to plants, fungi and biodiversity, while the Natural History Museum named a newly discovered parasitic wasp Attenboroughnculus tau in his honour.  Attenborough’s influence extends far beyond television awards. Through programmes such as Life on Earth, Blue Planet and Planet Earth, he has helped generations understand the beauty and fragility of the planet. At 100, his latest nominations show that his voice and influence remain as powerful as ever. His extraordinary year is not simply a celebration of age, but a reminder of a lifetime spent bringing the wonders of nature into people’s homes.

Paramount+ executive shares big update about Landm…

Fans of Landman have plenty to look forward to as the Paramount+ drama moves toward its highly anticipated third season. The Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace-created series has officially been renewed, and recent updates suggest that the next chapter of the hit oil drama is taking shape. Paramount+ confirmed the renewal in December 2025 after Landman delivered strong viewing numbers for the streaming service. The third season will continue to be executive produced by Sheridan, Wallace, David C. Glasser and several other members of the creative team.  The biggest question for viewers has been when the new episodes will arrive. Paramount+ has confirmed that season 3 is coming, but the streamer has not announced an official premiere date. Its own update notes that both previous seasons launched in November, although that pattern does not guarantee the same release window for the new season.  Production timing has also become an important part of the conversation. Earlier expectations pointed toward a quicker return, but reports indicate that filming has been pushed later than initially anticipated. That has raised the possibility that viewers may have to wait until 2027 rather than seeing the season in late 2026.  There is, however, plenty of story left to explore. Season 2 ended with major changes for Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris. After being pushed out of M-Tex, Tommy joined forces with his son Cooper and Danny Morrell to establish a new oil business. At the same time, Demi Moore’s Cami became an increasingly powerful figure at M-Tex, setting the stage for a new professional rivalry.  Thornton is expected to return as Tommy, while other familiar faces are also likely to continue their stories. However, Paramount+ had not yet officially announced the complete season 3 cast in its April update.  Christian Wallace has previously expressed enthusiasm about continuing the series, saying there is still plenty of story to tell. He suggested that the show has significant “runway” remaining as long as the characters and story continue to develop in worthwhile ways.  That approach could make season 3 particularly exciting. Tommy is no longer simply trying to survive inside someone else’s oil empire. He is now building something of his own, while facing new business dangers and complicated family relationships. For now, fans will have to remain patient for an official premiere announcement. What is clear is that Landman is not going anywhere. With Paramount+ backing another season and the story entering a completely new phase, season 3 could become one of the show’s biggest chapters yet.

Nicola Coughlan makes stunning confession about bo…

Nicola Coughlan has offered fans a rare and sweet glimpse into her relationship with boyfriend Jake Dunn, revealing that the couple found an easy way to stay close despite their demanding acting careers. The Bridgerton star recently opened up about Dunn’s unexpected decision to remain with her in Malta while she filmed her upcoming movie The Magic Faraway Tree. Rather than spending weeks apart, the couple managed to turn Coughlan’s work trip into a memorable time together. “He actually was in Malta the whole time I was filming, so I can’t complain,” Coughlan told E! News. She explained that Dunn initially traveled to Malta to visit her while he was taking a break from filming. However, the visit quickly became something more. “He came for a visit and then stayed,” she recalled. “He was on a break from filming at that time. He’s like, ‘I think I’m gonna stay.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, stay!’”  Coughlan described the period as a particularly happy memory. Her co-stars, including Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, also had loved ones around during filming, creating a warm atmosphere away from the usual pressures of a movie set. “It’s a very happy memory, that time. It was lovely,” she said.  The couple have been romantically linked since 2024 and have generally preferred to keep their relationship away from the spotlight. Coughlan has previously spoken about how uncomfortable she felt after paparazzi photographs of her and Dunn appeared online, saying the level of attention surrounding her private life could feel overwhelming.  Despite that scrutiny, Coughlan has gradually shared small details about their romance. In March 2026, she discussed how they manage their long-distance relationship, explaining that they make an effort to stay connected through FaceTime and the videos she sends Dunn. She also praised the fact that he has his own interests and busy schedule.  Coughlan and Dunn eventually made their relationship Instagram official in February 2025 before making their red-carpet debut at a BAFTA Television event in April of the same year.  Now, Coughlan’s latest comments show a softer side of their relationship. Her admission that she “can’t complain” about having Dunn by her side in Malta suggests that their romance is built around making the most of the limited time they have together. With The Magic Faraway Tree arriving in cinemas on August 21, Coughlan is entering another busy chapter professionally. But if her latest comments are any indication, she has found a simple way to make the journey more enjoyable: having someone she loves close by.

    Hayden Panettiere’s boyfriend Brian Hickerson’…

Hayden Panettiere’s tragic death has brought renewed attention to the actress’s complicated relationship with Brian Hickerson, including a legal setback he faced only days before her passing. Panettiere, best known for Heroes and Nashville, died at the age of 36 on August 16, 2026. Her death remains under investigation, and authorities have said there were no initial signs of foul play. An autopsy reportedly found no signs of trauma, while the official cause of death has not yet been determined.  Just three days before Panettiere died, a judge rejected Hickerson’s request to reduce his previous felony domestic abuse convictions to misdemeanors and have them dismissed. The ruling came during a hearing on August 13, according to reports citing the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.  Hickerson had pleaded no contest in April 2021 to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or girlfriend. The charges followed a series of incidents involving Panettiere between 2019 and 2020. He was originally facing eight felony counts connected to the alleged abuse.  As part of his 2021 sentence, Hickerson received 45 days in county jail, four years of formal probation, 52 domestic violence classes and a five-year restraining order. He ultimately served 33 days after receiving credit for time previously spent in custody.  The legal history has resurfaced because of its timing. Hickerson had previously tried to have the felony convictions reduced or dismissed in 2025, but that request was also unsuccessful. His latest petition noted that he had completed the conditions of his probation.  Panettiere had spoken publicly about the abuse in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning. She described how difficult it was to completely break away from an abusive relationship. Hickerson later acknowledged responsibility for some of the incidents discussed in the book, while also reflecting on his own struggles with substance abuse.  The pair’s relationship began in 2018 and continued on and off for several years. Despite their turbulent history, they later reconnected, with Hickerson publicly discussing their relationship and acknowledging that they were not necessarily good for each other.  Hickerson was reportedly with Panettiere around the time of her death, adding another layer of public interest to their complicated history. However, there is currently no evidence that Hickerson was responsible for Panettiere’s death, and authorities have not indicated that the two matters are connected.  As fans continue mourning Panettiere, her past struggles are once again receiving attention. Yet her legacy extends far beyond her difficult personal experiences. Through Nashville, Heroes and other performances, she left behind a career that made a lasting impression on audiences around the world.
