    Nine terrorists killed in Balochistan intelligence…

    More than nine terrorists have been killed in intelligence-based operations in different areas of Balochistan, according to security sources. The operations were conducted under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3. Security forces carried out targeted actions after receiving intelligence about the presence and movement of terrorists. A major intelligence-based operation was conducted in the mountainous area between Ziarat and Harnai. Security forces surrounded a suspected terrorist hideout after receiving credible intelligence. The operation resulted in the killing of eight terrorists. Their hideout was also destroyed during the action. Security forces also conducted an operation in Hajika village in Surab district. One terrorist was killed in the operation. According to security sources, the movement of terrorists between Dasht-e-Katai and Hajika had been detected before the operation. Security forces tracked their movement and launched the action after confirming their presence. Weapons and other equipment were recovered from the possession of the killed terrorists. The recovered items included ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, a walkie-talkie, a motorcycle and other material. Security sources said operations against terrorist groups would continue across Balochistan. They said security forces remained determined to eliminate terrorism and establish lasting peace in the province. The latest operations are part of continued efforts to prevent terrorist activities and disrupt militant networks. Security forces have intensified intelligence-based actions to target terrorist hideouts and movements. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operations. He said the personnel who foiled the terrorists’ plans deserved the nation’s appreciation.     SBP injects Rs11.6tr into banking system

    The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) injected around Rs11.6 trillion into the country’s banking system through an open market operation on Monday, providing significant liquidity to banks. The central bank conducted a reverse repo auction under its Open Market Operations (OMOs). Banks submitted bids worth Rs11.777 trillion across two different tenors. The SBP accepted Rs11.613 trillion in total. For the four-day tenor, banks offered Rs31 billion. The central bank accepted the entire amount at an interest rate of 11.54%. The bids in this category ranged between 11.56% and 11.54%. The 14-day tenor attracted much larger demand. Banks submitted offers worth Rs11.746 trillion. The SBP accepted Rs11.583 trillion at a cut-off rate of 11.51%. The bidding rate for the 14-day facility ranged from 11.57% to 11.51%. Of the Rs5.6527 trillion offered specifically at 11.51%, the central bank accepted Rs5.48415 trillion on a pro-rata basis. The large-scale liquidity injection comes as banks continue to manage their short-term funding requirements. Open market operations are among the SBP’s key tools for managing liquidity and maintaining stability in the financial system. Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee recorded a slight improvement against the US dollar during Monday’s trading session. The rupee strengthened by three paisa, closing at Rs277.62 per dollar compared with the previous close of Rs277.65. The marginal gain reflected relative stability in the foreign exchange market. The US dollar index also declined by 0.1%. The index, which measures the dollar against six major international currencies, traded near its lowest level of the month at 99.519. Gold prices, meanwhile, moved sharply higher in Pakistan. The price of gold increased by Rs2,000 per tola to reach Rs461,936. The price of 10 grams also rose by Rs1,715 to Rs396,035, according to market rates. The increase followed a strong recovery in international bullion prices. Gold has gained around 9% in August and was trading near $4,400 an ounce. Market analysts said the recent recovery suggested renewed interest from institutional investors and central banks. The rebound has also pushed gold above key technical resistance levels. This has strengthened expectations that prices could move higher if buying momentum continues. Gold had faced heavy pressure following the escalation of the US-Israel conflict with Iran. International prices fell from a record level of around $5,595 an ounce in January to below $4,000 in June. The decline prompted some investors to raise cash. Some central banks also used reserves to support their domestic economies as oil prices surged. Analysts now believe renewed central bank purchases could support the precious metal. Institutional investors are also rebuilding their holdings after the earlier sell-off.

Emergency teams have been placed on alert to respond quickly if water levels rise further. Shamsabad recorded the highest rainfall in Rawalpindi. Around 116 millimetres of rain was recorded in the area. The heavy downpour has raised concerns about urban flooding in vulnerable parts of the city. WASA staff have been deployed in low-lying areas to manage the situation. Heavy machinery has also been positioned at several key locations. These include Liaquat Bagh, the Committee Chowk Underpass and low-lying areas along Murree Road. Equipment has also been deployed in Dhok Khaba, Circular Road and Sadiqabad. Officials said the deployment of machinery would help clear rainwater and keep important roads accessible. Emergency personnel are also monitoring areas that are vulnerable to water accumulation. The authorities have urged relevant departments to remain alert as further rainfall could increase pressure on the city’s drainage system. WASA teams are continuing to monitor Nullah Lai and other vulnerable points. Officials said immediate action would be taken if water levels rise or flooding occurs.

    SC orders full medical record of Imran Khan

    The Supreme Court has ordered authorities to submit the complete medical record of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and provide detailed information about his meetings with his sisters over the past three years. During the hearing, the court was informed that Imran’s sisters had met him 48 times during the last three years. The judges sought the complete record of these meetings. Justice Shahid Waheed questioned why Islamabad High Court orders concerning meetings with Imran had not been implemented. The court summoned why  officials from Adiala Jail and directed them to explain the situation at the next hearing. The court was particularly concerned about Imran’s medical information. Justice Waheed directed the Islamabad advocate general to submit the complete medical record instead of a summary. The judge questioned why the full record could not be provided to the court. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan also raised questions about a recommendation for Imran to undergo angiography. He asked whether the procedure could be carried out while Imran remained in jail. The Islamabad advocate general replied that the procedure could be performed at a hospital outside the prison. Justice Waheed expressed concern over the medical reports presented before the court. He observed that the reports indicated problems with Imran’s pulse and heart and suggested that some of his vital organs could be affected. The court also discussed the importance of family meetings for Imran’s health. Justice Waheed made it clear that meetings with Imran’s sisters should not be treated as a concession. “Meeting his sisters is not a favour; it is their fundamental right,” the judge observed. Imran’s sister, Uzma Khanum, was present during the proceedings. However, Justice Afghan stopped her from addressing the court directly and advised her to speak through her lawyer. Her counsel, Uzair Bhandari, assured the court that Imran’s sisters would not hold a media briefing outside Adiala Jail after meeting him. He also requested that Imran’s personal physician, Dr Asim Yusuf, and Uzma Khanum be allowed to meet the PTI founder. The court further sought comprehensive details about the legal cases against Imran. Authorities were asked to clarify the number of cases in which he is facing trial, the cases resulting in convictions and those in which his sentences have been suspended. The proceedings came after a medical board recommended greater interaction between Imran and his immediate family. The board said regular family contact could help manage his anxiety and blood pressure. According to the medical information presented to the court, Imran has experienced fluctuating blood pressure, palpitations, headaches, restlessness and anxiety. A cardiologist at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences examined him on August 1. His blood pressure was recorded at 140/100mmHg. The doctor recommended measures to reduce mental stress, including increased family interaction and access to reading material. A four-member medical board examined Imran again on August 10. His blood pressure was recorded at 140/80mmHg. The board recommended daily walking and relaxation. It also suggested more frequent interaction with his immediate family and spouse to help control his anxiety and blood pressure. The medical report stated that Imran had undergone at least 39 medical examinations since his imprisonment. Jail doctors were also reportedly checking him three times a day. The report said his ECG was normal. It also stated that his eyesight had improved significantly after treatment for an eye condition. The PTI has challenged the completeness and authenticity of the medical information. The party has demanded examinations by Imran’s personal doctors, Dr Asim Yusuf and Dr Faisal Sultan, as well as an independent medical board. The government, however, has rejected allegations that Imran is being denied proper medical care. Government officials maintain that he is receiving treatment from qualified specialists and that his medical care and meetings are being managed according to the law and court orders.
