PTI chairman barrister Gohar Says Noreen Niazi’s…

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has clarified that the recent statement made by Noreen Niazi regarding the “Battle of Truth” (Maarka-e-Haq) does not reflect the official policy of the party. Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar emphasized that the remarks were Noreen Niazi’s personal views and should not be interpreted as PTI’s official position.

During the media interaction, Barrister Gohar said that every Pakistani takes pride in the country’s success in what he described as the Maarka-e-Haq. He stressed that Pakistan’s defense is strong and capable of protecting the country from any external threat. According to him, the nation remains united when it comes to safeguarding its sovereignty, and no enemy has the ability to defeat Pakistan.

Addressing questions about Noreen Niazi’s comments, Barrister Gohar explained that, according to the information available to him, the interview in question had actually been recorded around three months ago. He stated that the remarks expressed during that interview represented Noreen Niazi’s personal opinion and not the official stance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He reiterated that the party’s policies are determined through its official leadership and decision-making process, not through individual statements.

The PTI chairman further said that the party has consistently been trying to improve the overall political atmosphere in the country. He noted that political leaders should avoid reopening old controversies and instead focus on reducing tensions. According to Barrister Gohar, this is a time for restraint and reconciliation rather than confrontation. He remarked that everyone should avoid revisiting past disputes if the goal is to create a more stable political environment.

Speaking about the current political climate, Barrister Gohar also referred to comments made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He pointed out that the senior politician had already clarified his earlier remarks. Barrister Gohar observed that, during emotional speeches, public figures may sometimes say things that they later need to explain. However, he added that if a statement is incorrect, it should be acknowledged as such regardless of who made it.

He further emphasized that certain sensitive matters should not be discussed publicly if doing so could worsen the political situation. According to him, some issues are better left untouched in order to help the country move toward greater political stability and national harmony. He urged political leaders and stakeholders to exercise caution in their public statements and avoid comments that could increase tensions.

Barrister Gohar also spoke about PTI’s position regarding the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections. He stated that, at present, the party’s official decision is to boycott the elections. However, he indicated that the decision is not necessarily final and could be reviewed if political conditions improve in the future.

He revealed that there had been internal discussions within the party about reconsidering the boycott. According to Barrister Gohar, some members believed that PTI should revisit its decision and participate in the elections. Nevertheless, he explained that the party leadership could not reach a consensus on changing the existing policy. As a result, the decision to boycott the AJK elections remains in place for now.

The PTI chairman concluded by reiterating the party’s commitment to promoting political stability and constructive dialogue. He stressed that while differences of opinion are a normal part of politics, all political actors should prioritize national unity and work toward creating an environment that supports peace, democratic processes, and institutional stability.

Petrol pump owners call off strike after successfu…

A nationwide strike planned by Pakistan’s petrol pump owners and fuel dealers has been postponed after successful negotiations with the government. Following the talks, both the Petrol Pump Owners Association and the Petroleum Dealers Association withdrew their strike calls after receiving assurances that their key concerns, particularly regarding profit margins, would be addressed. The Petrol Pump Owners Association had initially announced that the strike would begin at 12:00 midnight, while the Petroleum Dealers Association planned to suspend operations from 6:00 a.m.However, after reaching an understanding with government representatives, both organizations decided to call off the protest, ensuring that fuel supplies would continue without disruption. Speaking after the meeting, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik thanked the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association and various petroleum dealers’ organizations for their willingness to engage in dialogue. He appreciated their decision to postpone the strike in the interest of the public and emphasized the importance of resolving issues through consultation rather than confrontation. The minister acknowledged that the country has been facing economic and regional challenges, particularly since developments in the region earlier this year. He noted that the prevailing situation has created uncertainty and concerns for both businesses and the public. According to Ali Pervaiz Malik, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is fully aware of the hardships being faced by citizens and remains committed to minimizing the impact of economic pressures on the people. He further stated that the government has already provided subsidies worth several hundred billion rupees to protect consumers from rising fuel costs. The minister said a targeted subsidy mechanism has been developed to ensure that relief reaches those who need it the most. He also praised oil refineries and petroleum sector stakeholders for their continued cooperation and support during challenging times. Addressing the dealers’ primary demand, Ali Pervaiz Malik confirmed that the issue of increasing petroleum dealers’ profit margins would be resolved through mutual consultation. He announced that a summary regarding the proposed increase in dealer margins would soon be presented to the federal cabinet for approval. The government, he added, is committed to finding a fair solution that balances the interests of both consumers and fuel retailers. The petroleum minister also revealed that the recently introduced daily fuel pricing system would be reviewed after a two-week trial period. During this time, the government will closely monitor its implementation in consultation with petroleum organizations before making any long-term decisions. He emphasized that all stakeholders would continue working together to improve the system and address any operational concerns. Meanwhile, Nadeem Khan, Secretary Information of the Petrol Pump Owners Association, confirmed that the government had assured dealers that their commission and profit margin issues would be resolved. He expressed optimism that the matter would be settled within the next two weeks, allowing dealers to continue operating under more sustainable financial conditions. Nadeem Khan said the associations had decided to postpone their protest based on the government’s commitments. He expressed hope that the authorities would honor their promises and implement the agreed measures within the announced timeframe. He also welcomed the decision to review the daily fuel pricing mechanism on a trial basis, saying it would provide an opportunity to evaluate its impact before any permanent implementation. The successful negotiations have prevented a nationwide disruption in fuel supplies, offering relief to motorists, businesses, and the general public. Both the government and petroleum sector representatives expressed confidence that continued dialogue and cooperation would help resolve outstanding issues while ensuring a stable fuel supply across the country.

Iran issues stark warning to US over ground troops

TEHRAN: Iran has issued a stark warning to the United States, saying any American ground troops attempting to enter Iranian territory would face fierce resistance. The warning was delivered by Iranian Army Ground Forces Commander Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi, as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high and the region continues to watch closely for signs of further military escalation. According to Iranian media reports, Jahanshahi said Iran’s armed forces were fully prepared to respond to any hostile action. He stressed that the country’s ground forces remained at a high state of readiness and were closely monitoring Iran’s borders. The Iranian commander made clear that Tehran would not take any threat to its territory lightly. Any attempt by an enemy to launch military action on Iranian soil, he said, would trigger an immediate and forceful response. The remarks underline Iran’s long-standing position that a direct ground intervention would represent a major escalation. Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that foreign troops entering the country would encounter strong resistance from the country’s armed forces. Jahanshahi also emphasized that Iran’s military units were prepared to respond to a range of potential scenarios. Security measures along the country’s borders, he said, remain active as authorities continue to assess possible threats. The latest warning comes against the backdrop of continued tensions between Iran and the United States, with military developments and diplomatic efforts both shaping the rapidly changing regional situation. For Tehran, the message appears aimed at drawing a clear red line around Iranian territory: while the country may face external pressure, any attempt to send foreign ground forces across its borders would be treated as a direct threat to national security. Analysts say such statements also reflect Iran’s effort to strengthen deterrence and signal military readiness at a time when uncertainty remains over the future course of US-Iran relations. With tensions already running high, any direct military confrontation could have consequences far beyond Iran and the United States, potentially triggering a wider regional crisis. For now, the sharp warning from Iran adds another layer of uncertainty to an already fragile security situation, while international attention remains focused on whether diplomacy can prevent another escalation.

Pakistan boxer mysteriously disappears in Glasgow before flight home

GLASGOW: A mystery has emerged following the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games after Pakistani boxer Qudrat Ullah reportedly disappeared from Glasgow just hours before the national squad was scheduled to fly back to Pakistan, prompting an investigation by the Pakistan Boxing Federation. According to federation sources, Qudrat Ullah failed to rejoin his teammates ahead of the team’s departure from Scotland. The boxer is believed to have gone missing approximately six hours before the group’s scheduled return flight, raising concerns among officials accompanying the contingent. The team had been instructed to assemble in the hotel lobby at 9 a.m. before leaving for the airport. However, when officials went to Qudrat Ullah’s room to escort him, they found it empty. Sources said he had last been seen in his room around 2 a.m., but by morning there was no sign of him. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have deepened the mystery because his passport and return airline ticket were reportedly still in the custody of the team manager. Officials have not explained how the boxer could have left without the travel documents required for his scheduled journey home. The Pakistan Boxing Federation has confirmed that the athlete is missing and said the matter is under investigation. Federation officials are coordinating with relevant authorities to determine his whereabouts and establish the sequence of events leading to his disappearance. No official statement has yet been issued regarding whether local Scottish authorities have launched a formal search or whether there is any indication of foul play. Federation officials have urged caution, saying further details will be shared once the inquiry progresses. The incident has revived memories of a similar episode during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in England, when two Pakistani boxers reportedly separated from the national team and failed to return with the delegation. That case sparked debate over athlete monitoring during international competitions and the challenges sports federations face in ensuring team discipline while abroad. Qudrat Ullah’s unexplained disappearance is likely to draw renewed scrutiny of travel protocols for national teams representing Pakistan at major sporting events. As officials continue their investigation, questions remain over what happened in the final hours before the squad’s departure and when the missing boxer will be located.

Abu Dhabi Police warn residents about rise in salary day online scams

Abu Dhabi Police have warned residents to stay alert as cybercriminals increase online fraud attempts around monthly salary payment periods. Officials said scammers often take advantage of the time when many people receive their salaries by using fake offers and deceptive schemes to steal money, banking details, and personal information. According to the police, fraudsters are creating fake promotions, counterfeit websites, and misleading online advertisements designed to appear genuine. They urged residents to deal only with trusted companies and verified service providers and to be cautious of offers that seem unusually attractive or promise unrealistic benefits. Authorities identified several scams that have recently become more common. These include fake advertisements for villas, holiday homes, and chalets, fraudulent residency visa services, counterfeit job offers, and fake recruitment agencies claiming to provide employment opportunities. Police also warned about unauthorized insurance plans and false advertisements offering vehicles allegedly seized by Abu Dhabi Customs. Scammers are also targeting buyers with fake listings for vehicle registration plates and luxury watches sold at heavily discounted prices. In addition, authorities highlighted fraudulent investment schemes that promise exceptionally high returns in a short period, a tactic commonly used to convince victims to hand over their savings. Police said criminals are increasingly using fake websites that imitate government departments and well known organizations to trick people into revealing sensitive information. Other scams involve persuading victims to install remote access software on their phones or computers, allowing fraudsters to gain access to personal data and banking accounts. Residents were also warned about requests for advance payments for products or services that do not exist. These include fake training courses, certificates, event tickets, and online shopping offers where the promised goods are never delivered after payment is made. Abu Dhabi Police strongly advised the public never to share banking information, passwords, or one time passwords with anyone, regardless of the reason given. Officials stressed that banks and government agencies do not ask customers to disclose such confidential information through phone calls, text messages, or online links. Authorities also encouraged residents to verify the identity of sellers and service providers before transferring money or making advance payments. They recommended accessing government services only through official websites and authorized mobile applications instead of clicking on links found through search engines or social media advertisements. Anyone who suspects they have encountered a scam or comes across suspicious online activity is urged to report it immediately through Abu Dhabi Police’s Aman service. Prompt reporting allows investigators to respond more quickly, prevent additional victims from being targeted, and strengthen efforts to combat cybercrime across the community. Police emphasized that staying cautious, verifying information before making payments, and protecting personal banking details are the most effective ways to avoid falling victim to online fraud, particularly during salary periods when scammers are most active.

Government will remain responsible for Imran’s h…

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said the government will continue to take responsibility for the health and medical care of PTI founder Imran Khan. Speaking to the media, the minister said the government was already providing the former prime minister with the best available healthcare facilities. He said these facilities were provided without the PTI having to make any formal appeal. Chaudhry said the government was also praying for Imran Khan’s good health. He stressed that the state would continue to fulfil its responsibility regarding his medical treatment. The minister said the government would implement the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Imran Khan in letter and spirit. The Supreme Court has ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to a private hospital for medical treatment. Chaudhry also criticised what he described as the PTI’s changing position on the judiciary. He said it was encouraging to see PTI members praising the courts. However, he questioned the party’s approach to judicial decisions. He said the judiciary was praised when verdicts went in the PTI’s favour, but faced criticism when decisions went against the party. He maintained that Pakistan’s judiciary was independent and was delivering decisions on merit. The federal minister said the courts remained the legal route for obtaining relief and securing release. He noted that people had received relief through judicial decisions in the past. According to Chaudhry, the prime minister could not use executive authority to act against a court order. He said the government was bound to respect and implement judicial decisions. The minister also spoke about ongoing political contacts with the opposition. He said the opposition leaders involved in the process were not members of the PTI. However, they had the confidence of Imran Khan, according to him. Chaudhry said the government had made its position clear. The opposition leadership taking part in talks should have the confidence of the PTI leadership. He said the government did not want a situation in which it was engaged in negotiations while PTI leaders continued issuing statements against the process. The minister welcomed the PTI parliamentary party’s expression of confidence in the opposition leadership involved in the talks. He further said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was expected to respond to the opposition leader’s letter within one or two days. After the response is sent, the venue for a joint meeting will be decided, he added.
