Kroos Has a Special Relationship with Real Madrid

Just months after retiring from football, Toni Kroos has stayed true to his promise. He has returned to Real Madrid in a special and meaningful way.

The former German midfielder recently participated in “White Week” at the Real Madrid – Universidad Europea University. There, he joined basketball legend Rudy Fernandez in sharing insights about their careers and post-retirement lives. Both are icons closely associated with Madrid’s success and sporting spirit, making their joint appearance a major attraction.

During the event, Kroos reflected on his glorious 10-year journey at the Bernabéu and shared deep insights into the values that made him choose Real Madrid as the final stop of his career.

He recalled leaving Germany with his wife and their eight-month-old son to start a challenging new life in Spain. A decade later, they now have three children, and Madrid has truly become their second home.

For Kroos, the warm embraces, greetings, and affectionate looks from Madridistas are the greatest reward. “I always said that if given the opportunity, I would retire at Real Madrid, and I kept my word,” he said emotionally.

A Decade of Success with Real Madrid

Kroos spent 10 years with Real, achieving great success.

Unlike some players who wait until their form declines or injuries take a toll, Kroos meticulously planned his retirement through discussions with his family. For the former German star, leaving at the peak of his career was the best way to respect his legacy, the fans, and himself.

He also revealed the key to maintaining stability throughout a decade at the top level: “Confidence is the first thing. I have never stepped onto the pitch feeling anxious or doubting myself. Even in tough times, I never questioned my abilities or felt fear. That’s essential at a club like Real.”

Kroos emphasized that Real Madrid’s identity in the Champions League comes from the perfect harmony between the team and the energy of the fans. That passionate atmosphere is the driving force behind the club’s legendary comebacks.

Though Kroos has yet to take on an official role at the club, he is gradually “returning” to Real Madrid—not as a player, but as a symbol of the club’s values and identity. According to AS, it’s only a matter of time before he takes on an official position at Real Madrid.
