For nearly two decades, the Ballon d’Or stage has been dominated by superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Only two players have broken through the Messi-Ronaldo stronghold: Luka Modric in 2018 and Karim Benzema in 2022, both from Real Madrid.
Vinicius could become the next Real Madrid player to lift the Ballon d’Or, and the first Brazilian to be honored since Kaka in 2007.
Last season, Vini played 39 matches with Real Madrid, scoring 24 goals (the team’s highest) and providing nine assists. Along with the previously mentioned double, he also claimed the Spanish Super Cup (the European Super Cup belongs to the 2024/25 season).
Although Vini wasn’t successful with Brazil in Copa America 2024, he stood out in UEFA competitions, with goals against Man City and Bayern Munich, a strong advantage in his favor.

Vinicius’s main competitors include two Real Madrid teammates, Dani Carvajal and Jude Bellingham, along with Manchester City’s Rodri, the standout player of EURO 2024.
In terms of team honors, Carvajal stands out with his haul: Champions League, La Liga, Spanish Super Cup, and EURO 2024.
Carvajal is also one of the top attacking full-backs of the 2023/24 season, with six goals and six assists for Real Madrid, plus one goal and three assists with Spain.
At the Valdebebas center, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti and players, including Carvajal, are confident that Vinicius will be honored.
