Mitch White planned a relaxing canoe trip with his closest friends for his bachelor party. Little did he know, this trip would turn into a rescue mission for an elderly dog trapped in mud. That’s a stag party he surely won’t forget.
Not every wild bachelor party turns into a dog rescue mission.
On a beautiful day, Mitch, a soon-to-be-married young man, gathered his closest friends and embarked on a canoe trip to celebrate his upcoming wedding. This bachelor party was supposed to be about nature and camaraderie. And what better way to bond than by rescuing a puppy together?
Just after the group had lunch and continued their journey, Mitch’s nephew, Gaylen Fraenkel, heard a mournful bark. They hadn’t encountered anyone else, so it was unlikely to be a camper’s dog. The young man decided to turn the canoe to make sure everything was alright. And thankfully he did: a desperate dog was trapped in thick mud, using its last bit of strength to call for help.
Upon closer inspection, they saw it was an elderly Saint Bernard. He was thin and exhausted, with an unpleasant tick attached to his eye. The rest of the group turned their canoes and jumped in to help. The mud was so deep and thick that they sank up to their knees. But they were relentless in their effort to rescue the dog, using paddles as shovels to unearth him.
Mitch White was on his bachelor party with his closest friends. The guys were in canoes when they heard barking.
Cuando se acercaron a la orilla, vieron a un perro pidiendo ayuda, completamente atrapado en el lodo.
When they got close to shore, they saw a dog calling for help, completely trapped in the mud.
To keep the dog comfortable, they offered water, which he drank half a gallon before stopping. The kind guys shared their lunch with him, giving him some meat and summer sausages. This quick snack was meant to give him an energy boost to get up. The bachelors called him Wilson and called his new name in an attempt to get him up, but he was too tired, even after the delicious summer sausages.
The group did not want to get too close to Wilson since they did not see a collar and were not sure if it was friendly. This is a good practice when it comes to a dog you don’t know.
Alex, one of Mitch’s friends, decided it was time to ask for help and called 911. He explained the situation and dispatched the Carver Fire Department, which arrived to help Wilson in 20 minutes. They brought a harness that they could place under their chest and the men from the fire department, along with two friends from Mitch, pulled Wilson out of his muddy prison. Hurray!
Thanks to the kindness of the bachelors and the help of the local fire department, the adorable puppy was rescued.
After a successful rescue mission, Wilson was about to receive another pleasant surprise. Five minutes after being removed from the mud, his owner appeared. He was surprised to see his four-legged friend all covered in mud. “Ed! What are you doing down there in the mud?!” he exclaimed upon seeing his dog. That’s how Mitch and his friends found out they had been calling Ed by the wrong name. Although for me it looks like a Wilson.
A few days ago, Mitch received a pleasant surprise when a friend of the owners contacted him. He wanted to let Ed’s saviors know that he was much better, recovering well and was already moving on his own. I bet his owners won’t let him out of their sight now.
Ed, a charming old San Bernardo, was reunited with his owner and feels much better.
The adorable Ed clearly was born under a lucky star. Mitch’s group found him just in time to take him to safety. But what would have happened if they hadn’t found him?
Owners want the best for their dogs: the best treats, piles of toys, and freedom to roam and explore. Unfortunately, letting your dog walk without a leash can be very dangerous as they can get lost like poor Ed here. They could decide to eat something dangerous that results in a pile of medical bills and a long, painful recovery. Keep an eye on your pet to avoid injury or have someone with ill intentions to try to steal your precious furry friend.
Walking with your human is the highlight of any dog’s day and they look forward to it. It’s that time of day when they have your undivided attention and unconditional love, so try to make the most of it. Avoid using your phone or listening to music; instead, try talking to your dog and watch their face light up when you say, “hello friend!”. The more fun activities you do, the stronger the bond you create with your dog. Look into those eyes and remember that you are everything to them, so make the most of the little time you have together.
