The Founder and President of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries, Helen Ukpabio, has announced plans to sue Nigerian singer Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, for alleged defamation. The lawsuit demands N200 billion in damages for what Ukpabio’s legal team described as “reckless, satanic, and libellous” statements.
The allegations surfaced after Bloody Civilian retweeted a viral post celebrating Ukpabio’s 60th birthday, accusing the pastor of encouraging harmful practices against children. The tweet stated, “She literally made people burn their children alive,” prompting a strong reaction from Ukpabio’s daughter, Imaobong, who threatened legal action within five hours if the tweet was not removed.
In a letter dated November 25, 2024, Ukpabio’s legal counsel, Victor Ukutt and Co., demanded a public apology from the singer to be published on her social media accounts and in major media outlets, both locally and internationally.
The letter also accused Bloody Civilian of falsely claiming that Ukpabio was banned from the UK due to alleged atrocities. These claims, the legal team stated, were investigated by Nigerian law enforcement agencies and deemed baseless.
Ukpabio’s legal representatives have given Bloody Civilian a week to comply with their demands, failing which the N200 billion lawsuit will proceed.
